Yeh, but that's why you pay more money for one, less miles (hopefully) less money on fixing it! You always end up spending the same in the end! Hmmm, yeh that and the engine'y problem at the moment. Plus the door handle antics, heater blower & wipers breaking down 250miles from home in the rain... Ok so maybe i'm being a bit harsh on her... Problems still to sort:- Engine problem - squeally noise, I reckon a belt or a bearing. Heater blower - needs someone who can actually solder to fit the thermal fuse Ciggy lighter - need the plug bit that's on the end of the loom. Misplaced mine when wiring in my ipod  Drivers side headlight lens - Small crack , have siliconed the glass back in so you can't notice it but it does get some condensation still. Clock adjuster in instrument panel - Fitted it the wrong way round so now need to take it all apart again. Other than that she's ready to rock! :)

If only I could persuade Laura to have the C and get rid of her Ford, she wont do it though!

THe only squeak/rattle I have at the moment on the S3 is the button on the handbrake which vibrates at about 2k revs! Other than that she's silent which doesn't suprise me as IMO the interior feels very well put together. I did buy the car knowing that there was an ABS problem. The dude had already diagnosed the issue as a sensor and sure enough a trip to RK confirmed that it's the longitudinal acceleration sensor. Other than that I got no fault codes. I have a service due in 3k which should work out just before the summer. Cambelt & water pump were both done on the last one so hopefully it wont be too much. Obviously I can't comment on how reliable the car will be as i've only owned it for a week but I doubt very much that I will encounter the amount of problems that owning a Corrado provides! Buuuut it's all horses for courses, I could have 10 years of trouble free driving with the S3 or it could go the other way. Who knows? :) Walesy, sounds fine to me. You can take me out in it once a month to get my fix then I can go home to my S3... :D

Yeh i've already given the leather a good going over. I had Autoglym & Gliptone stuff and agreed, the Liquid leather stuff is great. :)
-
I'll get a night dash pic up. Hopefully will be giving her a really good clean tomorrow (weather dependant) so will get some more pics up tomorrow. Leather is not heated. :(
-
I'll get a custom code one done at RK Engineering in St Agnes. They looked after my C and I had the S3 down there the other day, i'm sure they'll do me a good deal. ;) It saves travelling somewhere like I normally do!
-
Yeh that's exactly what i'm going to do. :) With a remap thrown in for good measure :D Hmmm, yeh I guess we'll see. Maybe i'll pick up an 8v as a run around next autumn. Idealy I would keep the VR but there's that constant feeling of 'what's going to happen next?!' Plus I could do with the money really. :) In any case i'll still be on the forum as much as ever.
-
I'm afraid that it's looking very likely that the C is going :( If I keep it it'll only be neglected and i'd rather someone else had soem fun with it and drove it like it should be! I'm going to get all the necessary work done (a few bits crossed off already) then put it up for sale in the spring for around the 4k mark.

I registered ok. V. useful site, shame it's not UK prices.
-
And make the old dude (that normally 'cleans' it) cry?!
-
Cheers Paul, Lee, thanks for the tip on the H&R ARB's have been reading up and it sounds like they are must, and not to much money either. Do you think the Blistein/H&Rs are a good combo? I was vaguely thinking about just fitting the springs, I guess it's silly not to do shocks as well.

My S3 seemed much quiter than my C on the motorway.

Cool Riley, how much do I have to spend to get a VD drying towel thrown in? ;) :)
-
Thanks, Now... just need to work out where i'm going to buy this stuff from... ;) Bojmobile, it's great thanks. I started a thread in General Car Chat, have a look for the full report! :)

Ideal, thanks for that. What about these claybar things then?

Ok, looking for some advice from the pros here. I want to give the new car a REALLY good clean and polish. I have a load of products that i've used before most of which i'm very happy with but I want some advice on what else I could/should use to get better results. So in the car care wing of my garage at the moment is... Meguiars NXT Car Wash Meg's NXT Tech Wax Meg's Scratch X AG Vinyl & Rubber AG Bumper Gel Gliptone LL Cleaner Gliptone LL Condtioner Meg's wax aplicator Meg's MF wash mit Meg's Super Terry towel ...think that's it. Now I gather I should be using a clay bar as well after washing. Also I guess I should be using a different cleaner for wheels & tyres + something for the glass. Oh and some polish (goes on before wax right?). So what products do you reccommend and where's the best place to get them? I just want to give her a really good clean and some protection over the winter. Thanks awfully for your help :)

Yeh I reckon the power is comparable but S3 delivers it much differently. As Walesy found out today, you can put your foot down and get very little then the next thing you know the turbo has spooled up and your pinned to the seat. On boost the S3 is faster IMO. Remap is what's required.
-
I agree with you Walesy everything is a lot more refined (and less naughty) it does lack the rawness of a VR. In my book however, that's not necessarily such a bad thing. It isn't supposed to be a savage animal it's supposed to be a daily driver with some omph that wont shed parts all the time and has some added mod cons. For those reasons alone it is perfect. :) It's like when top gear do comparisons between old and new sports cars and moan about all the engine/traction/stability/window management in the newer car that spoils the fun... but technically it's a better car. Biggest downside in the transition is the loss of the VR sound :( I am definately going to get a remap though (from the RK boys) and i'm really looking forward to it! I keep saying i'll leave it a bit but I reckon once the money is in my account it'll take a lot of restraint to hold back!
-
Thanks for the tips Nathan, i'll check the tyre pressure tomorrow. Are your wheels replicas or genuine? Don't plan on spending much on it until the summer but remap will be top of the list, I might get a demo in the near future to check it out though ;)

I have that bug you get with a new car where you keep thinking of places you can drive to!
-
Buy mine ;)

Yeh, this was posted up a few days ago. I just watched it quite impressive. :) http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49967

Yeah, have a search on ebay. They do both products (cleaner & conditioner) for under £10 + P&P
-
Hmmm... £750 on wing mirrors...let me think... nah I think i'll pass! Getting hold of some facelift headlights is the no. 1 priority right now. I think maybe german ebay is the way to go but it scares me.
