I am stripping and rebuilding an 8v head for my mk1. I have most of it striped but need to know what tool to get to remove the valves from there upper valve seat...... Its a hydraulic head if it makes a difference .. I will also be doing a bit of porting so if anyone knows a good place to get the multi tool bits that wouls also be helpful

Get a cult society rear plinth, colour code it and enjoy new smoothness. I think they are awesome as the lock is hidden. Glad to see you are back in the saddle

nice colour mate, and missing the lower spoiler like mine... welcome
-
i think i have one out of a scirocco, its yours for £5 plus the postage :-)
-
based on todays prices, you will not see much more than that from a 2l16v (at least i dont). I recon a Vr will be a bit worse
-
gonna do it do it properly, as that pic shows it makes a big difference. I find with cars with bigger discs it makes even more difference. My dads merc 320 has like 320mm discs and the abs quite often kicks in, makes for some good stopping in the wet, which is needed with 300bhp lol
-
I disagree, if you have the time and skill it can be a life saver (or at leas a car saver). ABS is much better than no ABS or it wouldn’t be installed on more and more new cars. Reduces stopping distance and can helps keep the car straight under heavy stoppage!

oil up to 120, water up to 80-100. :-)

cheers guys, basically if the raddo gos i want a big comfey car, that does good mpg.audi sounds like a good option. we willl see. Hows the chip fat working out for you?
-
Hey guys, thought I would resurrect this thread with a few questions. How much does it cost to fill the tank on the audi 80? What’s your average mpg guys? whats the difference with the face lift vesion?
-
I agree with you all that the Corrado puts a smile on my face and looks the biz, I was driving home (well to work) tonight and having fun on the odd bit of road that wasn’t traffic packed, catch the old 16v in 2nd gear at 4k and fun is to be had! But I only yesterday put £15 in and I am all but out...... the decision continues but I will have to drive a few TDIs before I jump in head first.... Cheers guys, as always you are all the voice of reason!

Thanks guys, what to do, what to do?! I would like to keep the C as its the best car I have had, and there has been many . But the possibilities of 50mpg are appealing, im guessing I spend around £40 -£60 on petrol each week, so if I could get the same to last closer to 2 weeks…. I will have to test drive a few audi 80’s and similar as I don’t want to spend much on said car. edit: just walked past her in the car park, what a pretty girl!!!

Hi chaps, Well as the title says, should I sell the raddo and get a tdi of some sort (maybe audi 80). The reason that I am thinking this is that i do on average (at least) 40-50 miles a day to and from uni, home and work. I’m in my last year of uni so could well be looking to change car anyway when i finish degree (will get a VR if I don’t join the marines). SO just wondering what your opinions are of owning an cheap 'economy wagon' compared to a super cool coupe... (mr Wales, or what ever he is called today :;-):, may be able to help here)
-
do you want speed? If so go G60, you soon get a bit bored of the 16v - the power is just to high up in the rev range sometimes. I drive a 2l16v and would always opt for the 2l for the ABS! Not sure if the g60 got ABS later in life but the early ones dont as far as i know. As for running costs - there is no cheap corrado  always somethig that needs doing but its part of the fun.
-
you are looking at mk3 polo (to j reg) for early switch.
-
how bad would lhd one be in our raddos?
-
excess white steam on a cold morning? if its not burning it a new tank cap can be a good place to start as they can go causing pressure build up...
-
its ok, you live and learn  I just used one i had spear from my crashed rocco. there are a number of vag cars that belt can be taken from, guess its just a case opf matching the bracket etc...
-
dont take the betl apart, i did and it basically exploded with springs and stuff.
