  1. I was on a fast lap that day, but there was a bit of damp I didn't see, and with having a boot full of gear, was a little late in recovering :) after a bit of spinning, 32 sections of armco and 8 posts later I had to hand over €2,000 before I could get my car back! Luckily my breakdown company covered recovery and was bought back to the UK with a load of other wreaks from the ring for free, but a lot of recovery companies now exclude the nurburgring! Amazingly it still ran and was able reverse the car into the garage, had no steering though as the chassis legs were all bent out as you can see :-)

  2. Well doesn't time fly! Lap 4 on the slight left hander after the Karussell the back end came swinging around which effectively put an end to my weekend, and my beloved mk3 VR6! :(

    If it wasn't for the truly amazing people I went with from The VR6 Owners Club I don't know what I'd have done, for the support, paying my bill as my bank card didn't work and for the support!

    Eventually once my finances recovered I was in a position to build my mk3 from all the spares I had so was more mk3 than mk2!

    It turned out pretty well! 221bhp with 3.68 FD, quaiffe diff.

    Miss the mk2 was a true driving machine, wasn't much that touched it on the road.

    So here's my little tribute to my trip to the Nurburgring, as a bonus I came away with a broken nose and a double hernia too so carful if anyone does go :) but I will go again, with more wisdom and respect.

    Bring on 2012 - the year of the corrado!

  3. Top is completely different and the diameter of the bottom one is too small to fit on the corrado radiator. I know this as I built a mk2 vr6 from my mk3 parts after I wrote it off at the nurburgring..

  4. OBDI = All Corrados (2.9) and early/non Highline MK3 Golfs (2.8 ). Both 12v

    OBDII = Mk3 Highline Golfs (2.8 ). Again 12v

    Difference between OBDI and II ... various bits and pieces - the search will tell you if you're interested.

    24v - you're into Mk4 engines.

    I'm sure someone will be able to tell you which engine you're looking for but I doubt it would be the Corrado 2.9 tbh.

    actually, my 1997 VR6 Golf (which wasnt a highline) was OBD2... and had the single top chain too.
