Thanks for the responses guys: Grrr I'll attempt to trace it back and find the problem. I believe this car was originally supplied with heated leather recaros, shame they aren't in it anymore but it explains the presence of this I guess. At least it sounds normal for it to be there! My cigarette light is missing the bulb and socket for that plug then, I can probably live without illumination on my cig lighter. Anyone got any ideas on 4) and 5)???

Bump - explanation corrected!

Previous post was incorrect as I though I was looking at the ABS light but it was the heated rear window switch. Anyway here goes - I took the dash out of 1992 (dizzy) Vr6 to repair the heater box flaps. that went smoothly but I found a bunch of other wiring "issues" not caused by me but must be a previous owner (The dash has been out before :( ). IIRC Everything worked fine before pulling the dash and all the wires were in the state pictured when I pulled the dash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1) First up we have a cut Black/Yellow wire Q: what is it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Next up is a strange white plug which IIRC was not connected to anything found to the left and below the clocks, and has had the black wire cut going to it. The black wire is dangling below it. Q: whats the black wire and what should the plug be plugged into?! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) This wire was found behind the ashtray not connected to anything Q: Should it be connected to something? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) There are two of these - I believe one was connected to the illumination for the heater controls Q: is the other one the illumination for the cig lighter? otherwise what is it?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Socket on the left found behind the glove box. A little way to the right 2 x plugs were dangling with the same colour wires Q: should one of the plugs be in that socket? were does the other plug go? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) OBD connectors. The +12v and ground aren't connected to anything. I used the +12 and GND from the radio hooked up to my VAG COM wire to read the ABS fault codes a few weeks back. This worked but would not read the engine ECU. Q: Wheres the other end of this connected to? Any ideas on why it wouldn't read the engine ECU? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any help with the above would be much appreciated!! Thanks.

My late dash (dial control not slider) heater is not changing direction. I've partially dissassembled the dash and found the actual dials and cables are fine. Basically the flap that changes direction to the screen is broken in some way. I think I'm going to need another direction changer flap thing - are these the same for early and late cars? Cheers.

My car is a late interior model with early door cards and seats. My mirror adjuster currently doesn't work and the window switches are intermittent. Theres lots of threads about fitting late interiors to early cars but none the other way. Has anyone got a list of wiring connections for this swap? eg early switches to late loom? Its not just the opposite of the other way round as there are extra wires removed when its the other way round, I need to reinstate these connections if you see what I mean. I guess a better way might be to source correct late door cards and switches with plugs and loom?

Nice! :D First job: Clean it!

I got a rear one from VAG not long ago, so if its similar (push fit over the rear of the disc) then they are availiable. Was a pain to get the part number as it is not shown on the ETKA part diagrams (is shown on the bentley). I went for pot luck and ordered the part based on the (useless) description in ETKA.

I love em, though tof this before! they should go straight onto a VR too. Surprised theya re only £200 inc tyres!
-
yes they are, ignore my post it was vagcat.com confusing me with their out of order part numbers.
-
The part numbers I wrote are wrong - Yet another failing of VAGCAT.com

Are the part numbers correct for those linkages? (in the post with the image) I think the ones listed above are for LHD cars? Can anyone confirm by measuring quickly as I was wanting to order today and don't have the C with me. [strike:378u5my5]I think the correct ones are: operating linkage 169MM rhd / 16 535955326 operating linkage 529MM rhd / 18 535955409[/strike:378u5my5] THE IMAGE THAT WAS BELOW SHOWED THE WRONG PART NUMBERS

I have a similar issue. Car started fine before my immobiler had a problem. I ended up turning the car over loads on the battery diagnosing and bypassing the circuits so i managed to completely flatten the battery. Ended up reading around 9.5v  Stuck it on charge for 3 days (new fancy charger puts out 14.3V at 3.6A then trickles when it detects the battery is charged), but I could hear the battery fizzing and bubbling when on charge. I didn't like the idea of filling my kitchen with hydrogen so I disconnected it. Pulled it off charge, and it reads 12.5V and it won't start the car. Battery is a massive Bosch silver 75aH car is a VR6. Battery has an indicator - white for vharge, bladck for check and green for OK, indicator has always been black. Car starts fine using the 60aH bosch silver from my golf. Is the 75aH bosch dead?! or can it be coaxed back into life?

can you just replace the plastic bushings in the arms? or are they impossible to get hold of?

I'm having difficulty find a late front bumper for my car, theres loads of early ones cheap, but no late ones. Would an early one fit? i.e. would my indicators and fogs fit? and would id look silly (being slightly narrower?). Cheers.

Hmmm I'm never going to be doing 150mph.... but a good point the yokos are 82V Thats news to me! The cars always been a VR6.... If theres likely to be an MOT issue then I'll sell the yokos and source some 205s. There must be lots of people running 195s on aftermarket rims incorrectly... Cheers for the input!

I have some 195 50 15 Yoko A509s lying round and the Corrado VR6 needs new boots. Has anyone encountered problems running 195 50 15 rather than 205 50 15 tyres? does the 10mm tread width and speedo reading 1.7% too slow make any difference? The rims are standard BBS solitudes, 7x15".

VR6 Water leak left side nr sbelt PUMP FAILED AGAIN & AGAIN!
was8v replied to was8v's topic in Engine Bay
Cheers all, will get another ASAP, glad its not too serious..... I found a decent guide to doing the water pump here - http://www.funkster.org/ click cars, then corrado, then water pump. -
The next issue in my VR6 saga is a new water leak, actually its more like a monsoon. Water is covering the serpentine belt and flicking around. Before I start taking things apart is the only water component the water pump on that side of the engine? Is it likely to be anything else? The pump bearings aren't complaining but but the water is sure coming from somewhere so the seal must have gone on that I guess?

rear fogs turned out to be a bad connection on the bulb holders / plug interface. reversing light may be the switch on the gear box, will check this out tomorrow...
-
Swaped my rear clusters the other day (didn't disturb the wiring or bulbs) and now neither my reversing light nor rear fog lights work :( Front fogs work fine and the light comes on the switch when pressed. Are they on the same relay or fuse? Whats the first thing to check? 1992 VR6. Cheers.

Would these be illegal now then?

Just removed my K&N 57i induction kit to swap for a standard airbox. The induction kit was already fitted when I bought the car. I unbolted the filter support (part of the k&N kit) from the two bolts circled in red in the image. Now there is nothing bolted to them - should there be something bolted to them? Am I missing something? they are pretty hefty just to do nothing? Cheers.
-
I'm interested in a reply to this as I may need a rear ABS sensor. Do they just have different plugs?
-
bump. any difference except the length of wire and price?

The Lidl oil meets the ACEA spec that you say is better quality. The consumer reading the labels compares specs and gets a bargain. I know many Lidl "weekly specials" products are a loss leader to get you in the supermarket and buy your food at the same time. How is "reclaimed" oil labelled- do they not have to say this? can reclaimed oil meet those "better quality" standards?
