Corrado Mk4-Golf-Reverse style white dials (old thread)
Mike Edwards replied to Andi's topic in Interior
May you be forgiven for being a philistine Supercharged. If you want the blue glow, just fit the bulbs from a late model VW instead of the yellow/green ones originally fitted. -
Alex is selling a good basis for a silly bhp track car. 2.1 16v engine with DTA engine management built to accept forced induction of some sort. Look in the For Sale section.
-
Driveshafts (or at least, the output part) may also be required, as I haven't tried it myself...
-
New ones are ~£140 inc VAT. Not had to have one rebuilt yet though...
-
Yes, you'll also need the disks, but the calipers and carriers are the same between the G60 and VR6. The offset on the hubs might be different I suppose, but given that fitting VR6 calipers and carriers allows you to use 280mm disks on the 16v, I don't think so. BTW, if you fit 312mm Golf/Leon/TT calipers you can use 305mm SEAT Ibiza disks....

£ lots of MOT, tax and insurance is the down side, but being a mechanically inclined saddo, the maintenance is the good bit (apart from thrashing them along the local rural a-roads that is...) :D

VT mouints can be rebuilt btw...

Lupo GTi front wiper conversion - See Page 23!!! for update

Should sit like this: Picture shows 2 driver's side blades(since fitted a passenger side blade on the driver's side) but they are in about the right place. -
To remove the cooler on the VR6, just undo the really big nut at the front. It clamps the whole thing on the block. Leave the filter alone. The hoses should be easy to replace if one has already split, has you don't have to woryy about draining the coolant. :D Take them off before you remove the cooler, as one of the hoses attaches to a plactic pipe not noted for it's longevity. BTW. The term cooler is a misnomer - it's there to help the oil heat up faster, so if you do fit a seperate cooler, make sure that it has a thermostatic flow-control valve and that you leave the "cooler" in place. Maybe not a problem if you live somewhere warm and never do short journeys, but otherwise you're going to wear your engine out faster...

You need the latch mechanisms as well as the handles. Make sure you re-grease the handle or it might not last very long...
-
What model? Any mods? Are you sure that you've fitted it correctly? What state are the other mounts in?
-
At the rear: Buy 5-stud disks (might as well do the rear wheel bearings while you're at it as it's easier to fit new than get the old ones out). At the front: Buy the wheel hub 1h0 407 613 B in 5 stud pattern.

People get used to a site where everything works (this one for instance). The old VWCCGB site was hosted on multiple servers as a way of saving money with the result that it didn't always work. The old webmaster got a lot of abuse as a result. Moral of the story: People will always find something to criticise - but try not to give them any additional ammunition... :D

Fitting instructions for InPro's / FK rear lights
Mike Edwards replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Engine Bay
Assuming they're like the Inpro's, crimp spade connectors on the wires and then push these into the plug on the wiring loom. NEVER cut the plugs off any part of your car's loom... -
ECP do TPS for the VR6 for less than £40 (or they did a year or so ago) Easiest way to test the maf is to let the car idle once it's up to temperature, then disconnect the plug on the MAS. The revs should change. To futher check, go for a drive with the plug disconnected. If the car drives exactly the same as normal, you need a new MAS.

The glass is available from VW as well for about the same price The only differences between the early and late healights are the lenses and the surrounding trim.

Ray, mine fit just fine. How low have you set them? Nigel, the later blades fit straight on without any adaptors - but you can now change the rubber without having to buy an entire new blade. -
Yes. Slightly more curved than the steel item which might bother you - but might not. Make sure it works properly before you agree to buy.

I'll second Henny's comment - too stiff (the Koni's that is - I've never actually met Henny, so I can't comment... :D ).
-
Darren - you are a master of understatement... :D

Biggest problem is likely to be the exhaust hangers. Late model cars have bars while early models have hooks - and never the twain shall meet....

Mk3 Golf and early 1990's Passat glass roof panels have the same number so....
-
You will need the centre panel for the dash along with all the vents, plus the ashtray/lighter and the heater controls themselves. They are a bit fragile as has already been mentioned, but are the same as that found in the 1992-94 Passat. If you're going to do it, you also need to consider changing the door cards for the later type All of the above means that you'll need later-type switches (the light switches are also pretty poor) which in turn means you need to replace the looms in the door and behind the dash. Not a small job!
