  1. Well: I bought the 1st one because I wanted something fun to spend 2-3 hours a day on the motorway in. The second one was supposed to be a cheap project that meant I'd have something to drive to work if I didn't get the 1st car back together after working on it over the weekend (750 miles a week eats suspension components... ). Unfortunately it snapped it's cambelt 6 weeks after I bought :x it so I decided to keep it and fiddle with it. The 3rd one was an impulse buy as I wanted to see what a VSR-equipped VR6 felt like (although I was actually looking for a G60 at the time...). The alternative explanation is that I like keeping VW parts departments and various VW specialists in business. :D
  2. Well, did his advert not say "...no offers..."??? I'm guessing £750 unless either he's very stubborn, or finds himself a complete mug. BTW, full leather without aircon is a really, really BAD idea...
  3. Amit, All the Cs have Mk2 calipers from the factory. The Mk3 items do fit straight on. The Mk4 items will need some "adjustment" of the handbrake cable mounting and new flexi hoses making up.
  4. Ah, I may be able to help on this one. There are 2 settings on the alarm siren which are selected by using the key that comes with the system. 1. This allows the system to make all the right beeping noises and the siren to sound quietly. 2. As above, but the siren runs at full volume. From personal experience, make sure you have on the quiet setting before sticking your head under the bonnet....
  5. More of a problem is that you need to put a 3mm spacer in behind the rear wheels in order to clear the cap that covers the rear wheel bearings...
  6. G60bv, The key point in your message is the bit about Eibach springs. They are f. hard. Fitting them to standard dampers is really not going to help as they will struggle to control them. BTW - you did trim the bumpstops didn't you? Andy, I agree with Henny - get the anti-rollbar mountings checked and where the bar attaches to the wishbones.

    top mounts!!!

VR6 top mounts from VW cost less as they're common with the Mk3 Golf.
  8. Shoudn't be crashy at all. How old are the top mounts?
  9. "I've got every common problem going by the sounds of things; the car cuts out, my thermostat housing is leaking and I've got a passenger side internal water leak as well! " Guess what happens when you have more than 1 Corrado...

    VR6 Problems

The latew MAS fits straight in - but you'll need to change the engine loom while you're at it as it has a different number of pins in the plug....
  11. The part costs ~£30, and can be changed with nothing more complicated than an allen key.
  12. Banana Man, Just out of interest, how do you think the reflectors in the headlights are made? )
  13. Okay, assuming that all the other sensors are working fine: Start the car and let it idle until warm. Unplug the MAS. The revs should drop. If there is no change, the ECU has adapted to having no signal from the MAS. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and repeat. Try driving it - it should feel 'orrible if the MAS is gone. Could be the MAS, could be the wiring.
  14. Remove it. Clean the groove that it sits in thoughly. Run a thin bead of black automotive silicon sealant along the groove. Refit.
  15. I'm fairly sure the front panel will come off without touching the front cross-member (which is what the engine mount attaches to0. However, you will have to remove the front bumper - the bolts holding that on also secure the front cross member. With the front bumper off, the car can be pushed, but don't drive it.

    STORM QUESTION?

Someone on here has the chassis numbers. Jeremy?
  17. He says it's blue - a Storm colour. I reckon that it either has Storm badges on it, or he's talking b*llsh*t
  18. Even if you accept that it's a typo, there has never been a "Storm Blue" Corrado. He is in breach of the sale of goods act... The colors are: (courtesy of VWCCGB website) Colour Name Sale code Paint Code Year(s) Notes Black A1 LO41 88 -95 Brilliant Black Metallic R8 LA9V 91 -94 (95?) 19. If it is just mould, clean it off using an old toothbrush next time you wash the car. Also works well for the edge of the sunroof panel and window seals.
  20. Close. 535 853 705 and 706. HTH
  21. Put the front clip in first - can be fiddly - then check that the rear clip lines up before you push the strip into the channel. Getting any dirt out of the channel before fitting the new strip is also a goo idea.
  22. It isn't a problem that a reset will fix. A replacement ECU is one option, but then I'd have to remap it to suit the Shrick etc. The garage are going to go looking for dodgy connections tomorrow...
  23. Problem has been traced to the ECU. It's sequentially injecting fuel into cylinder number 3 at completely the wrong time... :?
