Not been on here for a while but done a little tinkering with the 8v that was David's recently. The front engine mount was clearly on its was out and getting worse by the day so off into the garage loft to dig out the Vibratechnics front mount that I had fitted to a previous 8v i had (silver one) which i broke for spares a while back. Fitted this pretty easily one evening after work and wow what an improvement, the one that came off was literally in 2 pieces lol! Couldn't have been much worse really and drives great now. Also recently changed the header tank as it was a little manky and hard to see the coolant so a new one from the bay of hope and a new blue cap for that was done too. Ironically a couple of weeks later the water flange on the front of the engine sprang a leek so that too was changed which cost £6.59 delivered. Who says vw parts are expensive :) Was easy to fit too but getting the water pressure right was less so, hopefully that's ok now but flushed a lot of crap out of the system so will run it a week till it settles then refill with correct amount of coolant. Had another good session this morning too changing the rear discs and pads as you do. Seem to find this job so easy and quite therapeutic now as i must have done 25 sets now over the years lol! Not to mention having the right tools to hand too, that sykes pickevant windback tool i bought for £20 about 25 years ago has been a godsend not to mention the irwin bolt grippers when needed :) Luckily David applied plenty of copper grease so the carrier bolts that usually get stuck came out easily enough this time. Still plan to sell the VR & Nugget though as don't have much time these days :/

Hi Chris, the mudflaps and the drain pipes were a couple of them lol! the laquer in the bay and the koni's being yellow so you're almost there mate to be honest, I always like to see the brakes looking oe too :) looks superb buddy and gutted we missed Stanford as would have loved to have seen the car again.
-
Looking great Chris and so glad this car ended up with you :) There were always a few things that I wanted to see done when Chris Gaskell had it but alas the amount of time he used it he couldn't see the point, i'm sure he'll be looking down thankful the standard has improved even more. Concours Judging is about finding the little things that are wrong rather than what is right and there are only a few little niggles with this car that I can remember, so small are they that it's often best to leave them as they are. Anything above 130 points out of 140 is exceptional.

Got agreed value for 12k and 3000 mls for £280 ish. With P D James do can't grumble at that.
-
Have the Nugget and VR with peter d james too Jim. They were superb when i needed it with the Nugget incident so definitely recommend :)
-
Na will be going but not with the car.
-
Bought it in June 1999 so 16 years this year. Won't be at Stanford mate. Tour de Yorkshire coming to town :)
-
I'll still have the daily though and it's a great car but selling the VR will be a real heartache.
-
5 between us including the 2 8v daily's. Yeah bit sad about it but needs must.
-
It isn't really a for sale thread, just advising I'm selling. When I get the chance I'll create an advert as required. Apologies I never thought :/ My head is elsewhere I'm afraid.

Anyone got a VAG 3111 I can borrow? or tips for doing rear bushes without?

My best advice is to take the axle to the dealers if it's off completely already, it's a pig of a job. charged me £60 and was money well spent after an hour trying :) -
Yeah will still be around for a while. I really dont think they will sell though due to the costs needed to justify it but will try and see what happens. Sad times.
-
You mean the 8v? yes still have that and keeping that as the daily.
-
No toys planned just a Massive change of Heart. They need to be looked after by someone else I feel and maybe used a little more too.

KIPVW replied to Jamie's topic in Off-topic Chat
Yep definitely pigeon huts. lol! Used to see the old boys racing from there in the late 70's early 80's as we went past on the bus :) -
Yeah just been very busy doing other stuff ie Riding & Running.
-
Must get Arthur and Shery Baby together sometime James :)

Thanks for the nice comments guys :) And yes I've actually been thinking of selling if the right buyer comes along. Everything has a price in this world lol! You can see some of the pics from my recent underneath refurb from page 44 in my members gallery to whet your appetite :) http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=36576&page=46&highlight=summers

Another Hi From Sheffield/Barnsley way ;) You thinking of getting another then if this one is beyond repair???? Kip

No blinkers or prejudice Gareth, Concours is ALL about Originality and any modifications whatsoever are considered a no no! It even says on Stanford Hall's Website that participants are strongly urged not to enter if they are modified but are always allowed. The judge was one of the best on the field and has competed himself for over 20 years and has also owned a Concours winning Corrado to boot so knows exactly what he's looking at. This is possibly the only show where Originality rules the roost I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Chris walks away with a class win somewhere though, a real credit to all his hard work recently. Definitely taking the Nugget next year though :) Sorry i didn't get to speak to many folk as was judging myself for nearly 4 hours lol! Kip
