93 VR6 with Clifford Concept 650 MKII - Problems
KIPVW replied to dawillabeast's topic in Engine Bay
Every time you remove the battery or disconnect it the ecu goes into factor safe mode and sometimes doesn't run as smoothly of economically. Have a search on here. RW1 did a write up on how to do it. :) -
93 VR6 with Clifford Concept 650 MKII - Problems

Don't forget you'll need to do a basic engine set up sequence if you disconnect the battery too. I had the same alarm for years and was fine till it was about 10 years old and then kept doing all sorts of sillly things so i just had it replaced with the up to date version and all is well again. Didn't want old wiring causing me issues while away somewhere. -
What's ROAD Tax? :)
-
I bet brake lines from Alex too :)
-
Yeah just cleaned with wire wool & WD40. came up a treat :)

I have a Mini disc changer to go in yet when time permits :) I have loads of them so may as well use them. Have one in my VR too.

Yeah they feel superb and just add the right amount of firmness for a daily around these parts. I had Bilstein B4's on my Silver one and they felt similar. A very good compromise with the standard springs i think.

Yeah never had a sherry before so all new lol! i like the no sunroof too. It still has your old Koni's on too lol! still feel as tight as a mouses ear ole :)

Well it's been a while since i posted in her so thought i'd bump it with the new addition, I was lucky enough to see that David Wort was about to sell his 8v and as i knew it was in decent shape I thought i'd have it lol! Picked it up last week and totally love it! it just Zings along beautifully on the motorway. I dont really need to do anything as David did quite a bit to it already so Chapeau to him ;) I have though gone a bit retro with the radio and fitted an old Sony Mini Disc player i had in stock just for that retro feel :) Plus a little wash today and a new rear VW Badge to smarten up the rear. Happy Days

Got a similar issue at the mo too after changing the head unit I bought David Wort's 8v and he has kindly messaged me to say he needed to change the steering lock mechanism and as was struggling to find an OE one he fitted a gsf quality one and found that part of the end which connects when you go to turn the key twisted after a while causing ignition issues. He had already replaced the ignition switch with a genuine vw item so maybe the end of the steering lock piece in question has twisted. :/

Ok not On.

It was on yeah but had been messed around with interior wise and needed chucking and starting again but couldn't be bothered with changing dash etc. Was grey too and I missed my black interior of the silver one I had so when I knew David was selling it was the perfect replacement. :)

Which is where I learnt of it.

I'll check but it was definitely in Jay renshaws thread somewhere.
-
Yep one of mine did this too Chris, junior hacksaw abd then drilled out and re-tapped. Make sure you check the repair with the wishbone inplace before you get everything powder coated though as no point paying out for that if the thread you just tapped in wont hold a bolt to the correct torque. And if this is the bush we talked of earlier then yes they are available ;)

Oooh them Pipes :)
