Critical_Mass replied to Critical_Mass's topic in Members Gallery
.....ahhhh we must put together that special order 16 inch speedline group buy.......if anyone could be arsed to organise it I'm sure there would be a lot of us willing to jump on the band wagon  .......cant remember who has them on here but they look spot on IMO.[/quote:15ic2x28] Indeed mate. One big prob for me though, i dont have the cash at the moment. :( -
Again assuming you mean the VR. It definately is possible as my mechanic fitted a new one to mine without removing the slampanel and bumper.

I was highly suprised that HIC couldnt/wouldnt beat my previous years insurance (with HIC), numerous other places beat that about 3 halved it at around 400-450 like for like policy. Even when i rang them back they wouldnt budge on the price

Here is my 93 VR, which has cost me a fair bit of cash since i bought it in 2006. Unfortunately when i bought it i realised it was using a fair amount of oil - 1 litre every 300-500 miles :( I didnt know, nor find out if it was valve stem seals or piston rings. Instead of getting the existing engine refurbished i decided to get a refurbished, as good as new Vege engine fitted which set me back about £3000 which consisted of 1900 for engine on part exchange basis, water pump, clutch thermostat and housing and a few other bits and bats. 19000 miles in with the engine and its running sweet, sure things have gone wrong due to a sensor etc but the engine itself is solid and doesnt even use anywhere near the amount quoted in the manual :D Its currently got fitted a Cat back supersprint exhaust with the oval tailpipe, though cant decide if this looks too big, what do you think? Also has a Miltek sports cat and is attached to a raceland 6 branch manifold - excellent quality for the price, it is also wrapped in heat wrap. BMC CDA also fitted - and i absolutely love the noise  The car is sat on KW V1 coilovers, these are not the first suspension i fitted after removing the standard setup. I also tried some V-Maxx coilovers, fk shocks/springs and koni shocks and HR springs setup. I have to say the KWs are BRILLIANT. I love them, they are comfortable enough for daily use (which i do) but stiff enough to give plenty of confidence with road holding on the bendy bits. The car is also sat on a set of 16x7.5j ATS alloys (thanks Hasan! :D who also inspired me to start a members gallery thread) and i think they look rather good and sits nicely on them - much better then the previous wheels i had and also the Speedlines. The cars paint work has a few blemishes in a number of places due to stone chips and idiots who cant prevent their car doors from hitting others car :bad-words: But despite that does polish up rather well. However inside i am disliking the white and grey striped interior i see a number of non leather VRs fitted with. Would like to get it changed to a black cloth interior in the near future just to improve the cabin. Any constructive comments & opinions welcome :D I've attached a few more pics of when i first got the car to different wheels fitted to how it is now (apologise for the pics all being on the drive i dont have the habit of taking the car somewhere to take some pics... BUT i will at some point when the weather improves :D )

Ah sorry that was just one place i quickly googled  Try here http://www.exhaustwrapshop.com/default.aspx Oh and i didnt bother with the metal cable tie things as they're rather expensive :cuckoo: Instead i used a real of copper wire and wrapped it round parts of the manifold. Is yours off the car or currently fitted?

Looking good mate! 8)

From Page 1 - The main fan control temp sender is screwed into the radiator. This is a 3-pin brass jobber and has 2 different pin layouts depending on if you have early/late VR. It looks like early ones are all 3 pins in a row, late ones are 3 pins in a triangle shape. One pin (not sure what colour, probably brown) is earth. Pin 2 (thick red) is stage 1 output and is full-current to the fan. It has the following switching temps: Switch On: 92-97 C (198-207 F) - officially rated at 95 C Switch Off: 84-91 C (183-196 F) - officially rated at 84 C Pin 3 (thin red/black) is stage 2 relay-switched output, which has the following switching temps: Switch On: 99-105 C (210-221 F) - officially rated at 102 C Switch Off: 91-98 C (196-208 F) - officially rated at 91 C So yes rad switch. Ever since changing my yellow temp sender to cure a gauge issue the fans used to come on every time i turned the ignition off but only once the car was up to temperature. Then one day they stopped doing it. If you want to check if the fans are working. Idle the car and get it up to temp then just continue to let the temp rise and see if the fans come on at said temps.
-
Sounds like stage 1 isnt working yeah. what was the gauge issue anyway?
-
They seriously doing that?
-
Yeah thats going to boost his confidence isnt it. Yeah your driving is a bit poo at the moment so we are publicly going to question your ability in front of millions of people. I cant see him being there next season. Me either to be honest. I wonder which team he'll go to, if any  I also wonder if they'll bring Kubica in or beg for Raikkonen to take Massa's seat. To be honest i wouldnt mind Raikkonen being back in the sport.

Its a good and relieving feeling isnt it. Mine's due end of this month - fingers crossed :D -
Wasnt the best race, but i was quite glued to it. Was good to see Hamilton doing so well, even as far as getting passed Vettel before he had the brake issue. I also was absolutely gutted for Hamilton, but im sure he'll pick himself back up. Monaco will be really interesting, especially qualifying session 1. :D Anyone else read this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 671392.stm

Looks very nice mate. 8) I first thought the car was blackberry looking at the first pic. The light makes it look so different.
-
I used the Thermotec wrap and silicone spray. Heat wrap generally isnt cheap :( http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/ ... =thermotec Just for reference as to how much to buy. I got 2 x 50ft 2" wide wrap. Although 1 50ft pack was enough to do the whole manifold, which also allowed for off cuts too.

i think thats a real shame, not everyone can afford to spend thousands on expensive wheels but may wish to upgrade to something a bit more to your own taste, and as a result you become a 'laughing stock', sad really. As you said, personally i like them too. Sure is mate. From what ive observed when ive gone onto ED38, it seems the adopted attitude on there. With the odd exception.
-
You'll be the laughing stock on ED38 buying Lenso's  despite them looking near identical to BBS' Personally i like them! :D

Finally fitted the alloys i bought off Hasan... they look sweet. Also fitted new Toyo TR1s on the rears and a new budget tyre on the front (until i can some decent ones next month). The fronts required 3mm spacers and i know hub centric was important but damn near impossible to find for 3mm spacers. So got these off the bay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3mm-VW-Audi-Alloy ... _500wt_975 The reason i got these ones was because they have been drilled to be 5x100 and the centre is 57.1 which makes them hub centric (doesnt it?) - they cant be fitted off centre as they dont have the elongated bolts hole like universal spacers do. :D So if anyone wants some 3 or 5mm spacers i recommend these. They come in 4x100 too i think. -
