  1. Ok, noticed that the fans come on EVERYTIME i turn engine off after a drive. Now i know they're supposed to come on sometimes but not everytime. Would this be a knackered switch in the radiator?
  2. Well if its only for this reason mate, you made the right decision! Good to hear your happy with the choice you made. Get some pics up Alex! :D
  3. ooooh Josh, that looks sweeeeeeeeeeet. I want one! :D
  4. Doc, you're telling me you built a TIME MACHINE... out of a DeLorean!!! http://www.saber-scorpion.com/lego/bttf_delorean.htm
  5. i have the habit of answering my own questions. Well i replaced the gauge sensor over the weekend and it seems to work now. But unlike yours my fuel gauge is rubbish, it couldnt be more inaccurate. Need to take a look at the sender in the tank when i get chance. I like the display you have, where did you get that, where does it wire up to? Does it just splice into the existing loom for the sensors?
  6. Right sorted. Was the thermoswitch. Though my fans seem to come on everytime i turn ignition off. I'll have to do a little more observation, but from what ive seen today they come on each time the ignition is off, this is after longer runs... not necessarily spirited driving. The temp on the gauge is 90. They only come on for about 2 mins.
  7. I would suspect, if it doesnt sound like its blowing, that the hanger has come detached from the backbox.
  8. In that case, the springs for the valvers and G60 will be VR springs. Not sure how much of a difference having VR springs fitted to a valver or G60
  9. I think claiming off the council will get you know where, what can they do? Its a bugger when you get grit all over your car but as already said the road needs to be gritted. Swompy - alot of that does look like dirt.
  10. Changed the thermoswitch for he coolant temp for the gauges. Finally my gauge reads exactly what it should! Glad i didnt manage to change the thermostat, last weekend. Need to check out the back box knocking on the rear axle, its been fine for months then suddenly started knocking.
  11. I feel for you mate, i've been subjected to this too, normally when i see one coming i pull over where possible. But i have been caught on a road where there was no where to go. :( Nothing really you can do about it :?
  12. Good stuff!!! Nice easy fix mate! I bet you went out for a drive as soon as you'd fixed it!?
  13. Yeah i like that, though generally not a fan of cabs. I'd rather have the hard top R8!
  14. Must have been rubbing on something. Its not being rubbing the suspension or anything?
  15. got to admit though, at a glance..... I have seen a audi coupe from a distance and at a glance and had to double take to make sure its not a corrado. I do stress on the 'glance' though!
  16. Hi all, Need a bit of advice regarding temps - The story goes ... The temp gauge on my VR sits at around 70 when driving. Tonight my mechanic was doing a few checks, and the car was allowed to idle to see what the gauge did. It went up to 90 - great as it hasnt been at this temp for a while (the gauge anyway). The needle the continued to rise as expected and when it got to 100 the 2nd stage fans came on. - not sure why the first stage didnt. Though they did when i switched engine off. Anywyay, the fans cooled it back to 90, then switched off. Great its sat at 90 degrees. I switched engine off and was told to see how it goes tonight and tomorrow and come back Friday aft. Had a chat for a couple of mins then i started car and set off home. Watching the gauge it didnt rise back to 90 despite it being sat at that temp minutes before, it sat around 70 degrees. But whilst driving it slowly dropped to about between the bottom thicker mark and the 70degree mark on the gauge. hmmmm............Got home and plugged vagcom in. Which was reading about 85 when the gauge was just below 70. I let it idle and the vagcom reading got to about 96 degrees, but the gauge said about 85. Now, the gauge does go up and down, just not within the 90 degree range, as you would expect. The fans were coming on at the right time whilst it idled and was even sat at 90 whilst idling. It seems to be overcooling when driving. Any ideas, thermostat, gauge misreading?
  17. That looks cool. Must be pretty big to cost £255!!
  18. There's no such thing to 12 years no claims as far as the insurance companies are worth. Its a max of 5 years. So you will still have 5 years NCB. So if you were to have an accident you would be down to say 4 or 3 years NCB - all BS i know, but thats how the insurance companies work.
  19. Definately looks Quattro like. The engine bay is fab! Any pics of the dash? :D
  20. K reg VR in Dragon green. Seen at the bottom of Halton hill, headed onto York road and went into the ASDA killinbeck. Never seen this one around my way before. Was in the passenger seat in the girlfriends lupo... i was trying to get her to catch up so i could pull along side   Come on, who was it!?
