  1. thanks for the post Vornwend! I enjoyed that. I never knew WD40 stood for water desplacement no. 40... so whats the 40 stand for... 40 listed uses (plus more), or product no. 40? Smells gorgeous too!
  2. yup 16" for me too. Those tyres will need changing though as you'd be better than 205/45/16 instead of 205/55/16s - your speedo will be out.
  3. £132 for 2 fronts is really expensive. id expect to pay that for both rears though from VW.
  4. Ah sorry if you said "screw it back on". If the engine is cold it wont be under pressure. So if you run engine up to temp let it cool completely, then take the cap off it wont spill over.
  5. Welcome to the forum matey. The Golf looked superb. I thought that was my old G60 for a second. Same wheels, same colour, same scuff on the sill. Will be a good little project you have there :D
  6. Your best bet is to NOT take the coolant cap off as it drags air in when coolant is draining from the sensor hole, which inturn helps push the coolant out faster - leave the cap on. If the engine is cold there will be no pressure :)
  7. Odd, i paid £28 about 2 months back
  8. Yup its the yellow one - but new ones are black with a blue ring on them. They work the fans too.
  9. All the best mate, see you back some time in the near future. :)
  10. To be honest i dont think i have that many, simply because they dont happen. THe only one i can think of is the GFs sister using the rear spoiler to lift the boot lid, but she wasnt to know to be fair.
  11. oh fck me. Suppose a second hand one would be good initially to see if it solves the problem. If it does a new one it is. cheers for the part no. RW1
  12. As above. I too have been through the loss of a family member and im sorry to hear you've had to go through the same. Not sure why the thread was locked. But i hope it doesnt put you off coming back to the CF.
  13. :gulp: £40. I'll give them a bell and decide then. Least buying a brand new one at £40 it'll last another 15 years.
  14. ah they still available? I'd rather get a new one!!!
  15. Cleaned the ISV? The coolant light coming on could be a dodgy reservoir level sensor.
  16. No awaiting to hear from Enthusiasticdriver i think his username is (rich) to see if he had a spare one. I now also think there's a slight jerk when applying the throttle. Im going to change the dash pot anyway as mine does look shot.
  17. Id agree, but had my mechanic check both front and back mounts whilst i apply the clutch with the handbrake on and said it was fine, nothing wrong with front or backs.
  18. Jack etc? Sits inside the spacesaver held in place with a strap.
  19. 21mm deepset spanner. Will still allow you to get a allen key onto the top of the strut too. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=21mm+deep+set+spanner&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1024&bih=466&tbm=isch&tbnid=0KFZAw_T2HRfBM:&imgrefurl=http://www.outdooraddict.co.uk/silverline-bi-hex-deep-offset-ring-spanner-21mm-x-23mm.html&docid=qn88ADhGfaHSmM&imgurl=http://www.outdooraddict.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image01_9_124.jpg&w=400&h=400&ei=iBKHT4zRF8er8QPvnfnHBw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=709&sig=100915784493466321940&page=2&tbnh=132&tbnw=131&start=10&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:10,i:98&tx=85&ty=76
