  1. I forgot to add that i also had a new chip on the circuit board soldered in, this didnt work either. No found one from here fairly easily, put a wanted ad up :D Its easy to replace the gauge, once you've got the instrument cluster out and taken all the necessary screws out to get behind the clear window you can just pull the gauge off. No need to seperate the circuit board from the plastic shell its attached to.
  2. Vag com sounds like its reading correctly to be honest. The gauge is only so accurate. I had a similar issue. The gauge wouldnt go higher then 70. It wasnt the thermostat, i replaced the sensor and still no joy. I checked with vagcom and it seemed ok - like i you say it was 10 degrees lower on the dash to vagcom. I ended up having to replace the actual gauge in the dash. All is well now :D
  3. Go for the audi TT upgrade instead mate. Im hoping mine will pass no probs again this year. Mines never needed anything major doing - year before was a solid brake line needed replacing, that was it.
  4. Took the ol' gal in for her MOT this eve, will be done in the morning. Fingers crossed! (nervous times)
  5. ah so its part of the circuit board thats knackered?
  6. Its not clocking as such though. Its only illegal if you're lowering a cars mileage.
  7. Correct me if im wrong but if you only want to replace the temp gauge - assume you mean water. Why dont you just swap the gauge to your old cluster? LOL @ SC!
  8. Though if that IS that case then i hope your car is undamaged. I didnt think eggs would mark paint work.
  9. Try Greenlight mate, seriously they were half the amount of other insurance companies. All others, which included HIC were double the price which i found strange.
  10. I understand your annoyance, but just think yourself lucky it was egg and not stones! Sure kids can be ar5es but they can be alot more disrespectful then just throwing eggs.
  11. im confused because that is an ignition switch!
  12. ANy reason for the lip around the lock barrel?
  13. As what Jack says really. The difference on the exterior arent really noticeable. The only one you'd be easily be able to tell is the bonnet. Hence why you have to be careful when buying panels for your car.
  14. Do a search mate, there are threads with pics on it indicating where the mounting points are. :D
  15. The white one is the ad with the song isnt it? haha
  16. If you've changed the sensors and the guage still isnt moving then i would say its either a wiring issue or the gauges are kaput.
  17. I renewed my insurance the beginning of May. I was (and still am) with Greenlight insurance who quoted me £428 one payment. I went with Greenlight because HICs renewal last year was £800 odd!!! BUT i thought id see what HIC could offer me this year and again it was double that of Greenlight. THough the lad went away and said his manager authorised me to be able to go on some sort of 'special' policy which only the manager can allow (??) he got it down to £500 odd. Both these prices were before the interest for paying over the months, so im paying just over what HICs one off payment would be. All seems daft as HIC was great for me for a couple of years, but now they just cant or wont beat Greenlight. The only difference is im not getting an agreed valuation. Not sure what either are like to claim through. OH and thats 6 Years NCB and no points or claims.
  18. If its cheap enough and its got potential AND you have the money then go for it! :D
  19. Buy cheap buy twice, i learnt that the expensive way.
  20. It certainly does make the Lupo look huuuge. My gf has a lupo and i know what we're talking about. Though in the corrado's defense the lupo is quite a tall car.
  21. I think David has hit the nail on the head. Any money you save on fuel in a diesel you will negate it with servicing costs, insurance, tax etc. How about a 2.0 8v Corrado?
  22. I've noticed this myself, when i've returned to the car - gorgeous site :D But bear in mind that cars are getting bigger and bigger. Look at the Ford Fiesta and how big that is now compared to the mk1 > . Another good example is the mini. If they made a modern Corrado i suspect it would be alot bigger then it was back when the original was designed.
