You can get wheel nuts from any scrappy foc! Just find any old VW/Audi whip one off and stick it in your pocket! While you're there have every fuse/relay/bulb outta the car too! -

I know a guy who is a VW specillist, he had a bucket full of bolts he'd had off of VW's Audis etc, found a couple in there. Gotta feeling they might be vag. -

And that really isn't fun if they don't play!! I ended up having to cut them off with an angle grinder, then cut the old disc in half so i could slide off the carrier and wind out the bolts with a pair of mole grips! :? It took me 2 hours just to do one side!!! And 15min to do the other! Yeah, lighter nights rock! :sunny: -

I had a similar problem, I had the hub off and changed the bearings, that still didn't fit it, turned out it was crappy pads, I put some Pagid fast road pads in (very good) and they haven't squeeked since! -
Looks sweet mate! You pleased with it? Besides the problem of course!
-
Check that you've got a good earth on you're head unit too, that gave me similar troubles.
-
Should have known really! Cheers Olly! :thumbleft:

Cheers guys, looks like I'm gonna be giving Vibratech my hard earned! Where is the best place to get them from?
-
Can't remember exactly, cos I got a flowed inlet manifold at the same time plus a few other bits, but I'm pretty sure it came in under £600 for the head, on exchange basis.

Yep, the two bolts come completely out. The pads should be left in the caliper carrier, but more often then not, they come with the caliper. The calpier does require a little tapping to loosen it off, but don't go nuts! Might be worth mentioning that you can push the caliper piston back (very stiff!), occasionally they can move in a little whan you remove them, and you won't be able to put them back on, just push really hard and it'll move back slowly. -
Yep, I've just put a Jabba big valve head on mine. As said above, they send it away to be done. I had a look at it before I put it on and it's very well done actually, really well machined etc.

Yeah, those are the ones, once the caliper's off, they can slide backwards and forwards (which tnd to get in the way when putting the caliper back on!). As for the fluid, you don't have to touch anything where that's concerned. But the caliper will be stiff to get off, I usually find gentle 'persuasion' from a hammer helps! -

Hi mate, Are you just wanting to get off the caliper? If so, it's quite easy: Just whip off the wheel, and look at the back of the caliper, there's a 13mm bolt on there and just behind the caliper carrier next to it, is a 15mm nut that you have to hold while turning the 13mm one. It should be tight, a lot of people tend to put these on with thread locker, so be prepared to get your knuckles skinned when it does give! Just remember to loosen both of the 13mm bolts before removing either one, as the caliper will try to spin if you do it one at a time (that's what I found anyway). Once off just pull the caliper up off of the disc and and pads should be accessible to grease up etc. Hope this helps! -
No mate, the job turned out not to be as it seemed, VW are being really slow about things, so I went for a service engineer on sat and was offered the job this afternoon! :D Thanks for the advice, I don't wanna have to have the downpipe off again, it's really not fun when you don't have a set of ramps!!

Help needed! After having a front engine mount give up, the engine moved so much that it split my flexi hose and bashed the turbo against the bulkhead to the extent that it broke the actuator bracket off of the turbo! Now I've fixed all that and i've put on a BBM solid mount (thanks Darren) but the I can still hear the bracket catching the bulkhead under heavy acceleration, so i'm thinking the the rear two have to be done as well. So do you think that I'll be able to get away with just replacing for OE ones, should I fork out for Vibra ones(bearing in mind, I'm still unemployed!), or is there another option?? Cheers guys!

That thing is so quick, you can forgive the wing on the back!

That's seriously cool mate! 8) I sooo want it! :) -
You could go down the 16v golf route!
-
Hello and welcome! :D If it's powering up but no sound, it could be that the speaker connector has fallen out of the back of the head unit. (there's two, one for power, one for all the speakers.) Or that the internal amp has given up on the head unit = new stereo time. :(

I did nearly kill my ally collars freeing them up! Had to do a bit of sanding before I put them back together!!
-
See what you mean. Well i was running yokos (sorry can't remember size), but now i've got the 16's on i'm running nankangs. (i know! but loss of job=schitty tyres!)
-
Increased wheel width=increased tyre width=increased rubber. 17's were only 7j
-
I had to do this to get my wheels on last week, i ended up bending the c spanners so I gave the coilovers a through soaking in Wynns super rust penatrant and repeatedly hit them (off of the car),. For some reason, the bottom ones seem more willing to move, hope it helps!
-
Well I've just made the switch from 17s to 16s and the car seems to handle better and grip has dramatically improved. Though it might have something to do with the 9"wide wheels on the back! Before: After:
-
I'll be there, can't afford to take it out though!
