I'm about to order a new set of number plates for my c but I'm finding it hard to decide on what style to go for. I want to keep them legal but there are still a few choices to make. The options are: 1. Normal lettering 2. Carbon fibre lettering 3. 3D lettering 4. Border or no border 5. GB Euro 6. GB St. George Cross 7. GB Union Jack 8. GB Union Jack Stars. 9. No flags To get an idea of what the options look like you can try them out at http://www.myshowplates.co.uk/platebuilder.asp My favoured options currently are: 3D text, black border and GB Euro Any suggestions appreciated.

Part no. 357 853 601, as I said before I don't think they cost any more than a tenner from the stealers. The part no for the blue gromet that the badge pushes into is 191 853 615 A, these cost 36p each and you need two. The ones on the car will probably break when you remove/insert the badge

Mine has a bit of judder pulling away from standstill in 1st but it tends to reduce once the car warms up.
-
You're not gonna get one that looks much newer than the one you got rob!

As vwdubs has already said the storm was only available in the UK. If you contact VW with a vin number they can verify if it is genuine storm as this information is stored on their database. The UK registration document will only list a storm as being a VR6

I can't track down the receipt but I don't think the badge was any more than a tenner. and the blue clips were 36p each (x2)

You can also get a nice shiney brand new VW badge at the dealers, I bought one recently.

Nice one, must catch that.

I think there are varying degrees of progressive. As I said before i'm not saying the c's brakes dont work it's just they are a little too progressive for my personal taste. I prefer to be able to use less foot pressure to achieve the same result. A number of forum members have made various modifications to their braking systems to improve braking over the standard setup and IMO I can understand why.
-
I think it's generally accepted that the standard c brakes are not too hot. Driving a modern car and then getting into a c really does show up their deficiency. The brakes in my Toyota Hiace van are sharper and more responsive than in my c (although to be honest they are pretty good). I'm not saying the c's don't work but you do have to press the pedal a lot more firmly to get the desired braking effect.

This is because the resistance of the circuit is is higher at cooler temperatures. It's all to do with Ohms Law.

There is no doubt that abs will reduce stopping distances particularly in the wet and maintain steering control under servere braking. I would rather have it than not. After all, who can pump the brakes manually at 50 times per second!

Very nice looking car kewlwhip, welcome to the forum

My BBS centre caps were looking tired too. I've put new VW ones on at the moment and I quite like them. Some Storms came with the BBS caps and some with VW. All of the promotional pics I've seen of the storm had the VW ones fitted. I believe these are the BBS ones and I've seen them listed quite a lot on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BBS-alloy-wheel-c ... dZViewItem

that sounds pretty late. my vin is 50zSK003267 how many apart are we?
-
Good point GIXXERUX, Lets base it on when the car was produced as opposed to when it was registered as i'm sure there were a few sitting around for a while before they were sold. I will post my Vin number if any later registered ones come up.
-
As we have recently had the how long have you had your corrado thread I thought it would be fun to find out who has the oldest and newest C So to start things off I'll put mine up as one of the newest Registered Jan 1996 In the event of a draw it can be decided on vin numbers. Any offers?

Use a hair dryer to heat up the sticky stuff and then it should loosen enough to pull it off. If it's badging once heated get a credit card behind it to gently prize it off.
-
Nice car, hope you find a buyer soon.

Great news Blue_joe, I'm glad you have finally found it otherwise people would have thought I was just making it up! Looking forward to seeing it for the second time, I'm sure it's as good as I remember. Well done mate. -
Thanks for the advice guys.

It's a vr6 I don't notice it at high revs in 3rd gear and above. I'll see if I can get it to whistle at standstill (haven't tried that yet) and check the alternator Kev.
-
I've noticed recently that when I accelerate hard in lower gears (1st and 2nd mostly) there is a whistle which sounds like its coming from the front of the car somewhere and possibly an engine noise. Any ideas?

You managed to post that while I was writing mine gradeAfailure. Wish you would have beat me to it and saved me some time
