GSF do the EBC Green Stuff for the rears

You only need the ignition on and not the engine running. If it's been sat for a long time its probably jammed. Remove the cover on the inside of the tail gate and you will see a winder in the middle of the spoiler mechanism, pull this out and it will allow you to turn it by hand to raise the spoiler manually. This might be sufficient to free it up.

Brembo discs are pretty good but I don't think they do grooved or drilled for the rears. Just steer clear of the cheap GSF ones as they will rust in no time. As for pads I use EBC Green Stuff but Pagid also come highly recommended.

Yes they are wrongly listed, no corrado used that type of rear disc. Ask for a refund.

Yes looking at the picture again they are rears but the later type ones used on mark v golfs which don't carry the bearing within the disc. The picture may not be of the actual ones you have bought, if you are unsure check with the seller.

I don't know if they still stock them, but I bought one a few years back from GSF and It was the genuine Bosch pump

As per the title, I've seen them start from £20 upwards for a 1/2" drive. Halfords ones are around £70 Can anyone recommend one that isn't too pricey?

Popped into my local stealers this morning to price up some repacement wishbones, ball joints, drop links and all of the associated nuts, bolts and bushes. The nearside rear wishbone bush on mine is splitting and I've got the MOT due next month, so I thought it would make sense to just repace both sides and get the 4 wheel alignment done. When the parts guy totalled it all up it came to £454.37!! To add insult to injury he told me he coulnd't offer any discount! The biggest cost was the wishbones at £99.36 + VAT each side, which doesn't even include the rear bush! Anyway, I've ordered everyting except the wishbones, my original ones just need a clean up and some hammerite, and I'm going to replace the rear bushes with R32 ones. This brought it down to £215 (inc VAT). VW prices are just rediculous but I don't want to use pattern parts as I think they are a false economy. I love VW's but just wish they weren't so expensive maintain.

I just replaced all of my fluid with DOT 5.1 when I had the front callipers refurbed. I probably used about 1 litre to flush it all through, mine was pretty dirty looking when it came out. I'd definately go for 5.1 for the higher temperature characteristics even it you are not going to get the brakes that hot, you might as well use the best stuff.

I don't think they are in production any longer, that's why the used ones fetch so much. I bought one new about 10 months ago for £30 from an ebay seller, think I got lucky.

I love the look on other drivers faces when they realise they can't pull away from you in your 15 year old VW. Of course a 911 is gonna pull out a lead but even they look surprised how well you can hang on. I bet the guys running chargers and turbos on their C's must have so much fun!

This version was superseeded by suffix B and then by suffix D both of which didn't have EDL so probably the wrong version.

According to Etka, there are two versions of the ABS ECU for the 95 model year cars with RHD. 1H0 907 379 C was superseeded on the 31/10/93 by 1H0 907 379 E which has electronic differential lock (EDL) 1HO 907 379 D did not have of EDL You probably need the C or E suffix model The list price of a new ECU 2-3 years ago was around £700

If the ABS light came on then the fault should have been stored on the ECU. Is Vagcom communicating with the ABS ECU?

Yeah, stayed with the 280s. Plenty of stopping power when they work properly. I had the callipers and carriers done in a black polymer coating at Bigg Red. The callipers were £129 for the pair and £30 for the carriers. My offside calliper was seized and as you can see from the pic the pistons were badly corroded. Once I've got some spare funds I'll get the rears done too.

It would be a good idea to check the condition of the callipers aswell. If they are original they may well be in need of some attention. I've just had mine refurbished and changed the disk, pads and replaced the brake fluid at the same time and it has made a dramitic improvement. I replaced my Brembo Max discs and Green Stuff pads with a new set of the same. I know some people don't rate the Green Stuff pads but I've used them for a couple of years now and I'm happy with them. They are just bedded in and the stopping power is impressive. Get yourself an Eezebleed kit from halfords and replace all of the brake fluid, mine was changed a couple of years ago but when I bled it out it was quite dirty looking. It's very easy to do. Ah, thought it was only temp dependant, that''s good to know I case mine ever goes off. Probably a good idea to check the pressure sensors at the oil filter housing then. hopefully the oil pump isn't shafted.

IIRC the buzzer only comes on if the oil temp hits 130c. I wouldn't imagine the oil getting that hot 5 mins after starting off. Could be a sensor or electrical problem, especially as the oil light doesn't come on. Check the connections to the sensors.

No, they are real easy to fit in a matter of seconds. Mine hasn't caused any damage to the wheel and I've been using it for the last 4 years. I have heard some reports of them leaving marks on the wheel but I'm not sure if the design was changed at any point. In any case, a bit of stratigically placed single sided foam on the inside of it would cure any problems of that nature. As it encases the whole wheel a wouldbe theif is gonna have to do a lot of work to get it off.
