  1. As others have mentioned there are a lot of Corrados being broken now. Looking on http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk , in the last 5 years the number of cars has reduced from around 4800 down to 2600. I would guess this decline will continue for a while yet until only the looked after examples remain. I did a lot of driving in mine for the first few years from when I bought it in 2005 but in the last couple of years I've only done a few thousand each year as it spends most of its time in the garage. I'm gradually getting all of the jobs done that I've been wanting to do on it, all front bushes, calipers refurbished, new radiator, stat and housing, just bought another set of refurbished solitudes, rear beam bushes to do (not looking forward to that one) and I'm planning to get the front end resprayed. I love driving the car but not as a daily. I do around 400 miles a week and as I'm becoming an old bugger I need a little more comfort and fuel economy these days so I drive a 520d E60 as my daily. For turning heads though, the Corrado will always win hands down.
  2. I just bought a pair of the veedubmachine ones and they are the same length as the originals. The hole that goes over the pin is a little smaller but pushes on OK.
  3. No reading indicates the sensor or wiring to it (depending on where you took the measurement) has gone open circuit. It does seem strange though that you would have 3 failed. Has the ABS light come on recently?
  4. The question on my mind is whether these are parts that were just laying around in parts bins in Germany or whether they are actually reproducing this stuff. let's hope it's the latter otherwise once it's gone it's gone!
  5. That Porsche front end is going to look totally out of place on the front of a Corrado, they are worlds and decades apart! If you don't like the headlights then maybe you could change them but the whole front would be overkill.
  6. I don't know for certain but I would expect the VR beam to have a wider track to match the front plus axle components that were carried over from the Mk3 golf.
  7. The problem will be the thermal trip inside the motor assembly. If you opened the motor up to clean out the carbon you will have seen a green rectangular component in line with one of the brushes, that is the thermal trip. You can remove it completely and just put a link wire in. Providing the motor isn't pulling too much current it will work fine, otherwise it will just blow the fuse protecting that circuit. Removed mine a couple of years ago now and it's worked fine ever since.
  8. Hi Jon,

Yes I still have mine and use it quite regularly. I've done nearly 40,000 miles since I bought it in 2005 (now on 113,000) and its still going strong.

I can understand you wanting to try something else before you are condemned to driving something mundane (corsa) and if I hear of any one interested I'll let you know.

I don't know if you are still a forum member (I notice you have sent me a visitors message) but obviously a post on here would hopefully generate some interest in your car.

Be aware though, Prices are a bit depressed at the moment so not the best time to sell. Storms are still sought after though.

    Good luck with your sale.

    Paul

  9. Clarkson also referred to the VR in one of his articles as a £20,000 Ferrari I think all of those Sweedish motoring journalists must have been smoking pot or something when they tested it
  10. You have to tilt the lid upwards and then pull back on the lining panel which will then release. you will then have access to the four torx head adjustment screws. However, if you have been able to park the lid correctly using the manual control then it sounds like your motor is not syncronised. To syncronise: Manually close lid to correct position Remove motor (leave plug connected) opeate motor to closed position. refit motor. Hope this helps.
  11. Manually place the sunroof in the closed position. Before refitting the motor plug it in and run the motor to the closed position. Refit the motor. If you have auto closure just lock the car before refitting the motor. I had a similar problem with mine recently and a replacement motor cured it.
  12. If you spoke to your local VW dealer and they were unable to confirm your storm it may be because they have updated their systems and no longer hold that information. A call to VW customer services in Milton Keynes will get you the information required. As for checking the factory spec, other than the paint code on a mystic blue, the only other discernable item, "bits and bobs" on a storm would be the solitude alloys. I don't even think the colour coded grille is a listed item on the spec sheet. The only other items, the gear surround and rear badges were fitted at the selling dealers so these would not be listed on the spec. VW is the only definative source for confirmation of authenticity.
  13. Black with a green 16v badge on the A40 London bound today about 6.30pm. Would have given a wave but was in my van.
  14. The R32 version from VW
  15. You can use either of the motors you have listed, the first is the original motor fitted which was dropped on the 30/11/95. The second part no. is for the direct replacement.

    coolant flange

I'd definately get a genuine VW one. The GSF and similar don't seem to last too long before they are leaking again.
  17. The GSF one must be made of paper mashe!
