neil20vtc replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
im 25 and this is my first vw but before this i had (in order of ownership) ford fiesta 1.3 ghia b reg peugeot 306 1.4 m reg nova 1.2 sx k reg (due to writing the pug off!) opel kadett 1.6 sr old x reg (mk1 astra shape) ford escort 1.8 si p reg (rs 2000 replica) peugeout 205 1.9 gti h reg nissan primera sri r reg nissan almera gti r reg have to say my fave before the corrado was the 205 gti lots of fun and was a clean non sunroof model (which i have been told is quite rare) but i simply couldnt keep it as it spent lots of time breaking down -

Differing attitudes of dealers - UPDATED with some sad news
neil20vtc replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
sorry to hear your sad news my best wishes to you and your family -
like yours mine was just running really rough no misfires but a total lack in power and genrally unhealthy the best way to check if its the coils is to remove the plugs off the top of them one by one it should run even worse when you do this and if you unplug one and it runs the same you know that thats the dud coil pack i would suggest replacing them all if it is a coil as when i replaced the dud one on mine another one went straight away replaced the lot and its been fine ever since hope that makes sense

me and my mate got round to doing the false boot floor today i have done it with a split in it so i can still get to my spare wheel if i have to , ignore the wires dangaling about in the last pic there gonna tidied up when its finished apart from that im well pleased with how its turned out
-
cheers for your comments and stan interior looks better with the recaros as the original seats were light grey like the carpet, was a bit too much! and bally liking your new paint especially the change of colour to the wheels goes well with aqua blue
-
fitted my scuttle cover today so took some pics, also i hadnt got round to taking any of the engine bay now its had the rest of its blue hoses fitted i think the cover tidys the bay up a treat as spoiled it a bit before being able to see all the wiper moter etc and fitted my new steering wheel its a 300mm one feels well small after using the original one
-
hi stu yeah the figure is at the flywheel and it is running a ko4 andy (who did the conversion) says a custom code remap on a standard bam 1.8t will see 270ish bhp mine gets the extra bhp from not running a cat and having a bigger intercooler and agree with you on the too much power for fwd although mine just suffers from wheelspin more than anything which can be controlled with very careful use of my right foot although a lsd would come in handy i did think mine would torque steer quite badly but the addition of poly bushes seems to help a lot
-
your right you are lucky! makes you think what if when something like that happens but at least you managed to avoid it was the driver ok?
-
its been good on the few days that its been dry but its quite drivable off boost anyways so manage to pootle around ok, had a problem with some ignition coils packing in but andy posted me a new set up and its been fine since then i have to pop back down to psi at some point as my samco coolant hoses have finally arrived plus andy can then give it a quick check over see if everythings settling in ok
-
sorry beeftech i didnt as one of the ignition coils packed in so was busy gettin that all sorted but andy is gonna be at york raceway on monday so could ask him then
-
as promised here is some pics of the engine bay sorry if there not so good quality i was in a rush to go out test drive it in the dry
-
lets just say around the 5k mark but i had lots more than just the engine dropped in like poly bushed and a lot of other bits an bobs ill ask him tomorrow when i ring him to tell him how pleased i am with it and yeah my car was a 2.0 16v stan no dodgy needle movement with mine everything works bob on and i dont know how much it was to get it rollered as he didnt tell me or put it on the invoice so i presumed it was in with the conversion costs and ill get some pics up later gonna take it out before it rains again an see what its like in the dry and ben yeah im definatly needing some 4wd think i would have to go for that if i was gonna change the turbo and go for more power but i will live with it for now
-
its running factory management with a custom code remap and beeftech read in your thread that you were having bother with ya clocks andy said getting the rev counter to work on my original clocks was a right pain to do as well
-
andy charged me 1600 but thats with new plugs cam belt water pump and oil and filter
-
yeah its a bam an its still bloody crap weather so cant get any pics up hope it sorts itself out soon so i can proper enjoy myself in it
-
well picked my car up today an all i can say is its a right animal! it pulled 292 bhp on the rollers and is running sweet as, its just a shame the weather is so crap here today as i cant get the power fully down without the wheels spinning even in 5th! but im well chuffed with it an will post some pics when the weather is better as you have to see the engine andys install is the dogs gonads
-
dont quite know what you mean there as i do have a thread like this one with the progress of how its coming along but hardly anyone has commented on the conversion
-
i do have a gallery its under jeffcabbage corrado pics, an what pics did you see was andy just carrying them about with him at tatton?
-
dont know exactly where he is gettin it rollered at just said he knew someone with some an yeah stan its gonna have a custom code remap and a fmic to get it to that bhp he said it should be ready friday i cant bloody wait oh an ya cars lookin sweet at tatton wish mine had been ready in time
-
yep its the 225 engine but should be pushing 285+ bhp by the time its finished its booked to go on the rollers next week so we will see, and yep did it for a good price he managed to squeeze my invoice through before he had to go vat registered
-
yeah its been in for a bit (the engine) just had trouble with bits not turning up plus there has only been andy there the past two weeks as the guy who does all the servicing has been on holiday so its taken a bit longer than he thought
-
puttin a 20v turbo in, new brakes and poly bushing it oh and a few other little treats its almost finished now gonna pick it up next friday hopefully taken a while as samco have been a bit crap been waiting almost 7 weeks now for some hoses to turn up!
-
looking good stan hope andy has done as good a job of mine, oh an where did you get your battery cover from?
