well the parts turned up from bar-tek about a day or two after my last post so shouldnt have been worrying they consisted of a peloquin lsd, turbo manifold,470cc incectors, sachs sinter clutch kit,and a oil cooler kit and some arp head studs so after that arrived i had intended to get a couple of days on the car in a row over christmas so i could replace the chains and tensioners and install the arp studs and whack the spacer plate and gasket on whilst it was fresh in my head how it all came apart but this wasnt to be as the head was a bit crusty around the water ports so thought it be best to get it skimmed the machine shop gave me the head back and informed me that it needed new stem seals and the valves cleaning up and lapping in so thats what i have been upto this wekend cleaned the carbon off the valves with a wire wheel on a bench grinder at my freinds work he then kindly lent me the stem seal pliers and valve spring compressor to do the rest at home, new genuine stem seals are now in and valves are lapped in just need to refit all the springs etc some progress pics tensioner was about goosed! state of the head you can see where it has gone crusty from the coolant head studs in lapping the valves in new stem seals going in all of this is new to me by the way that i have never even removed a head from an engine before but im thouroughly enjoying doing it all and learning along the way neil

Welcome back Just a quick warning to those with the corner plastics still attached my old rado had them and one came unfixed at the front and flipped under my wheel whilst on the motorway proper squeaky bum moment! Neil

Well I think it was amazons supplier have posted the box of ten to me instead of to amazons distribution centre as the inner box had that address on it My girlfriend thought I should have just kept them but it's done now the way I'm going to look at it is I normally have the worst luck with things being delivered either not turning up not on time or the wrong thing turning up, now if me returning the extra wrenches means someone gets the one they needed to do some work on there car whilst of over the Christmas period then sending them back was worth it
-
was expecting a parcel from amazon today with a torque wrench in, someone from the office at work told me my parcel had arrived and was bloody heavy i thought how heavy can one be? they then brought the parcel through for me and when i opened it there was ten inside! now some of you may be thinking nice one get em sold on make some money, as i did but i also have a conscience and also i had seen something on the web recently when amazon sent loads of stuff to the wrong address and they let them keep it because they were honest about it so i thought id let them know an see what happens well they just said cheers send them back to us and just emailed me a label and are expecting me to take them to the post office! bit of a cheek when its there mistake so yeah feelin a bit miffed at that im hoping that once there returned they may offer me some kind of reward but i wont hold my breath least i can sleep easy and hopefully karma will reward me in some way well thats what im telling myself! so if this happend to any of you what would you have done?

yeah a local lad who has a vrt haldexed 4x4 caddy did all his own downpipe and even his tubular manifold with a mig as you say probably not the best for show stuff but he has it all heat wrapped so you cant tell anyway may have to ask the guy i rent the barn with if i can have a play with his mig welder, i decided to do tig as thats what the college suggested to me when i told them what i was after plus they said if i could tig i would soon get the hang of mig welding

Cheers the mk2 will most likely go once the corrado is done currently using it all the time as for the comps 17x8 with 205/40/17

well after using the corrado as my daily for the past few years its now in need of a bit of tlc so i have taken it off the road the plan is to treat it to nice new bolts and powdercoated goodies for underneath a fresh lick of paint and to stick a turbo on it! i have decided to give turboing it a go myself and will be doing this first slowly taking my time then once its been running and im happy with it i plan on pulling the motor out getting the car sprayed and fitting the fresh running gear along with the engine after its been spruced up a bit i went as far as booking myself in to do a evening course at college doing tig welding so i can make my own downpipe plus i just think it would be something good to be able to do, but the original nite was full and the extra one they were going to put on didnt get enough numbers so im going to have to wait until feb to get started on that anyways i have been collecting a few turbo parts and also started stripping bits off the car ready here are some pictures the powdercoated bits and oem bolts washers bushes bearings etc were the stuff that useoncedestroy was selling on here someone local to me had bought them and they came up on my local forum when he was selling his corrado and some of how far i have got taking the car to bits hopefully this will clean up and be ok powdercoated as i didnt get this in the bundle of stuff and thats about where im at, so not far! have also removed the downpipe which was a right pita as could not get the cat off so took some time rithing around on the floor trying to manouvre it out!

Cheers mate and if I had my way I probably would keep it but the boss lady has said I'm not allowed two full blown toys, it won't be up going until the corrado is done though which going of my golf could be some time

I feel your pain I had this same issue when rebuilding my mk2 after it had been in the body shop they took all the bits off the old doors so I was left with figuring out these dam rods when putting the car back together it was 3 years ago though so can't remember it to well but remember struggling with that same bit I actually broke the golf equivalent of that black bit trying to get it to work and had to rob the black bit from a spare corrado door, I seem to recall pushing the rod with the small locating hook in line with the slot in the black bit then twisting it so it locates in the hole ! Sorry that's about all I remember well that and lots if swearing! Hope you get it sorted Neil
