Shilakadaddy replied to OSV's topic in General Car Chat
Some very nice cars there! thanks for sharing 8) -
I hate the plastic gaitor, it looks so wrong! I'm supprised more people don't change it for something else... if anyone has done anything different I'd also be interested to see :)

very nice mate 8) Been learning about the various versions available, and about that one in the picture I posted above - a 650bhp UBER project  Also theres the Quattro Sport's - 214 made, 300bhp... fetching around £50k  Don't think he'll be getting one of these either! Then theres the WR, MB and RR.. none of which seem easy to come by... and whats the KV - I haven't quite worked out where this fits in yet?? Learning about these cars is really making me want one

no idea, just got the image off google  I love the look of that one tho, you'd soon move over if that appeared in your rear view mirror!!

2K for a bumper?!?!  He currently has a Jaguar XK8, which is losing money all the time in depreciation. Plus it spends half the year in the garage as he works 2 week on, 2 week off, shifts off-shore. I think the main reason the Quattro appealed to him was that he wouldn't lose any money through depreciation, and wouldn't matter how long it spent not doing anything in the garage, as long as it stayed in good condition. I found a couple of good forums with loads of info I'm gonna try absorb... seems a lot of people prefer the 10v version too as it feels faster than the more refined 20v, despite this actually being faster. By the sounds of it, I think I'd prefer the 10v versions too, but this is for my dad, so probs a different story for him  Anyway I'll leave you with a picture 8)

My dads thinking about buying one :) He's decided his current car is costing too much, and isn't really giving him much pleasure for it (don't question what my dad wants from a car! ). So he's gonna sell it and possibly get an old skool audi quattro :D I think he's been convinced by the corrado that old cars are cool  So does anyone know anything about them? Good forums I can go and learn about them? etc. Cheers, Chris

I love these threads :) I'm quite impressed with that forum actually, usually when this sort of thing comes up, everyone slags the other car off and names many a time when they've had races and 'whooped' them  but doesn't seem to be the case here :) Not a fan of the CTR tbh, I'm sure it'd be more than a match for my G60, but too common for me.. I like having cars that are a bit different :)

G60Dan's G60 Updated 22/11/04 - New Exhaust
Shilakadaddy replied to G60Dan's topic in Members Gallery
whats the noise like Dan? Was thinking about getting a CAT bypass myself, just not sure if it'll be too loud or not... Looks good tho 8) -
thats exactly what I was looking for, thanks for posting those mate 8) Unfortunately I agree with you tho, they definately stick out too far at the front :( So I'm either gonna have to do a 5x100 hub conversion, or choose some other wheels :| Thanks again too hot, you may have saved me a lot of money :)

my dads got an XK8 coupe.. its quite nice, although I think theres something wrong with his, as at 90mph + it feels very unstable - almost like the back end was weaving. Not a very comforting feeling :?
-
Never seen those before, but not really what I'm wanting tbh. I'm wanting to do what Henny's done and remove the ash tray and lighter, and replace that area with some gauges. I just remembered liking the Carisma TVR which had loads of gauges like the one in the picture above all over the dash... that was a bit ott, but the actual gauges themselves were very nice looking.
-
Looking for some digital gauges: ^ That kind of thing, but not sure if I'd want the surround to be shinier to match the chrome rings around my dials... Also does anyone know if they're any good? The main one I'm interested in is a Boost Gauge, then I'll probably have another two just for show... Cheers, Chris

Super Duper, keep us posted

I'm contemplating going to Ron Perry at some point as I know his son, Dan, and may be able to get mates rates :) Not sure if he's any good or not, but will be sure to let the fellow north east people know

bump for pics too hot? :D
-
yeah u get the whoosh noise when u put your foot to the floor and then quickly let off the gas... even at 3k it should have you chuckling
-
yeah you'll probably ruin that quiche But as for drying, hammerite/smoothrite is stange stuff when drying, I've painted some on too thick before, and it cracked when drying... so I think you have to build it up in thin layers.

random comparisson of dubsters G60 vs a standard rallye (as seen as I stole it from their site): 8)
-
Stolen off a Pug 306 site: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread ... 387&page=1 ^ its another one of those simulation programs, that takes the car data and tells you how fast your car is... however apparently this software is very accurate. So I downloaded the program and fed it a mixture of data about the G60. I used dubster82's G60 as the model for power, as on his gallery thread he has a decent rolling road printout. The rest of the corrado stats were obtained from HERE apart from the coefficient of drag, which I got from a random site I can't remember... Also I just made up the ground clearance, and weight distribution. Does anyone know if all the data entered is correct? Anyway theres so many things you can simulate, 1/4 mile (with other cars), Standing start accelleration, power curves, torque curves, miles per gallon etc. etc.!! I've been playing around with it for about an hour :D With the data entered it would seem that dubster82's G60 is pretty quick anyway  Enter the stats for your own car and see how quick it is 8) Chris

16VG60's looks very nice. Sorry for OT, but does anyone have anymore pics of it (can't find any in the members gallery) :)
-
Fantastic! :D Theres very quickly becoming some amazing corrado's in the uk... and all on this forum 8) I remember stevemac saying something about the UK first's R32 Corrado, but wouldn't give any details. Can't wait to see it when its up and running :)

8) nice one Although looking at anubis's pics, they'll stick out quite a lot.. (they look just right as they are) but we shall see :) Cheers
-
yeah it'd definately be the best way of doing it.. but as you said it's expense, and I don't like spending money  Also despite the many threads that have covered the conversion... i'm still confused as to how to do the front. The latest way I heard of doing it was just swapping the drive shafts :?
-
hummm damn... you got any pics of your car that would show how far the wheels stick out?
-
...could you fit spacers to your wheels, or would they stick out too much? I'm planning on getting Oettinger RE's for my G60, but as they only come in 5 stud pattern, I'll have to use adaptors which'll probably be like using 20mm spacers. So will they fit? Cheers, Chris
