I've managed to balls up my chance of owning a Corrado...
Shilakadaddy replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
limited mileage makes a huge difference!! I do 3000 miles a year... and I think it saved me about £200 when doing quotes online, compared to the standard 10,000... :) -
the only time the AA covered me was when I got a friends car fixed  I needed them twice before that when I crashed my old 306 and couldn't drive it... but they don't cover accidents, so I still had to pay
-
another person interested :) when you thinking of doing this?

Audioscape moulded sub enclosure - update 21/02
Shilakadaddy replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
this sounds like a good idea... although it might not look right with my sub (its got kind of a big magnet), I'm interested, however shall have to see how much money I've got in a couple of weeks after I've got other bits on my car sorted! -
doh beaten! :(

1) Depends on your budget? Any corrado will cost more to run than your yaris... So how much are you looking to spend on the car? insurance? I don't think there's much variation in fuel economy between the different models... around 30mpg I think is the norm. 2) Stealth Racing isn't too far from you (about 50miles) 3) Like you said high miles doesn't mean a lot on these cars, finding one in good nick is the most important thing... people on the forum have come to realise how little full VW service history means too.. depending on which model you chose, theres plenty of advice on here for what to look out for 4) The Classifieds on this forum. Thats how I found mine :) Chris

Anyone know anything about the MINI Cooper S?
Shilakadaddy replied to TomB's topic in General Car Chat
Just downloaded this episode... just here for anyone that wants to see: http://gear.viper007bond.com/downloads. ... 77623d0902 the BBR mini was 275bhp! Found it amusing that BMW are charging £3000 extra for a chip and pulley  oddly enough this episode featured a corrado... on their modified car picture thing. It was a photoshop of a corrado with a huge engine  -
What do people think? It looks like an Aston... but I still think it looks awesome! 8)
-
gotta agree that looks evil  I prolly wouldn't like it from other angles tho as I think having the fogs and indicators smoothed out of the bumper doesn't look right... but in those pictures it looks ace! 8)

cool 8) they need a link to here tho

Anyone know anything about the MINI Cooper S?
Shilakadaddy replied to TomB's topic in General Car Chat
plus with the supercharger theres high tuning possibilities... I personally hate them, not sure why (might be something to do with an ex having one) and also the amount of people who think they look great driving them! its a posers car imo... but actually a very good car too I'm led to believe -
excellent explaination, thankyou :D So can you adjust the reference table on the SNS chips slightly so that it would be right for my car, without having to burn a new chip? I.e. like a Re-Writeble CD :)
-
Ok I've been asking this question to a few people, and my current understanding is this: You have the ECU which controls the various functions of the engine (namely how much fuel to put in etc.) and the amount is determined by the map which is on the chip. If you have a remappable ECU then you can simply get this set up perfectly to your car, or if you were to do a certain mod (namely a 68mm pulley) then you can get an off the shelf chip for this mod... some of these chips may be mappable, and some may not... ^ Is this right? The only thing I'm confused by now is whats the difference between an SNS chip, and a Jabba Chip... if they were both set up for my car? Namely would there be any difference me getting an SNS chip and then properly set up, compared to if I were to simply use my Jabba chip and get that properly set up? I feel I already know the answer to that question.. but I don't know why? Alby, cheers I'll PM Bilal now and see if he can explain it all for me :) Also I believe the 5.5 Chips are out now, and don't need a 3.5 bar FPR Gareth, I go to Teesside Uni, so thats where my car is most the time when around boro. The only other Corrado I've seen is a Red one with an RS4 front bumper (or something similar) and a reiger grille around teesside park area.
-
woah someone else in middlesbrough! will have to look out for you.. if you see another red corrado flashing at you it'll probably be me :) I never see any other corrados around here..

In the coming weeks I shall be getting a couple of upgrades for my G60... SNS Chip Red Top Injectors RSR Charger Outlet Milltek Decat Pipe to add to my current spec of: G-Werks Stage 4 Charger 68mm Pulley Gas-Flowed Head Supersprint Exhaust The thing that I'm curious about is the SNS Chip. I don't know anything about the difference between Chips and ECU's (I thought they were the same, until my flatmate started trying to explain to me) and with the new chip do I need it to be custom mapped to my car? I emailed Stealth asking them if they could do it, I'd like to go to them as they used to maintain my car, and I got this reply: The price sounded a little cheap if thats a custom map? Could someone please explain the difference between ECU's, Chips, Remaps etc.? and what I'll need to make my car run at its best with all this new stuff :) I'm still just learning  Cheers, Chris

my wheels are already knackered from brake dust... the guy I bought it off said that he used some really abrasive pads and didn't clean the dust off for a while, and now I can't remove it at all! With the mintex pads, basically my flatmate knows a guy who works in the mintex factory who gets them cheap anyway, but sometimes can get them for free by writing them off as damaged etc. So I'll go for those if I can get them for next to nothing. And for disks, just the OE ones? What about of Black Diamond combi's? TBH I nothing about brakes, never changed from the standard setup, so I'm just looking at the popular / well known brands...
-
I think I need to change my disks and pads because they suck! I think my disks are low, as they have quite a lip on them, and as I said they don't stop me very well.. so I think a change is in order. Don't wanna do a conversion as I don't think I can afford it (although how much are bigger disk conversions  ) So really I'm just wanting to know the best disks and pads to get... how do you guys rate Mintex pads? because I can hopefully get some of those really cheap :) Cheers, Chris

Corrado Forum - Car of the Year 2004
Shilakadaddy replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in General Car Chat
Excellent thanks :) As for the time limit, thats open to suggestions.. I'd say 2 weeks is long enough for most people to see it, but its really up to you guys involved as to how long this goes on for...? -
Sorry its taken me so long to put this up.. had a lot of Uni work... Anyway, I'm sure most of you saw the other threads (and hopefully voted) for your favourite Corrado on the forum. Well I've taken the top 2 cars from each category (3 from Original as 2nd was closely fought) to put into this final poll which will decide the most popular corrado of 2004. Once again if a mod could help me out with the poll side of things it would be greatly appriciated - not sure if we need a time limit on this one... so we actually know when someones won, lol :) Guys who are in this, if you want a spec list posting (would be helpful for the guys who have done a lot subtle mods) then if you could PM me with them, I will try to post them asap. Same goes if you want a different picture displayed etc. Contestants: A20 LEE Engine 2.9litre V6 12v DOHC [/*:m:a9568] Supersprint Cat By-pass [/*:m:a9568] Stainless Steel Magnex Exhaust [/*:m:a9568] Powerflex Exhaust Mounts [/*:m:a9568] Chrome Plated Rebuilt Big Bore Throttle Body + New DashPot [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Exhaust Heat Shield [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Upper Inlet Manifold [/*:m:a9568] Custom Plug Cover Plate [/*:m:a9568] Re-routed Spark plug leads [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Lower Inlet Manifold [/*:m:a9568] Polished Stainless Steel Manifold Bolts [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Fuel Injector Rail [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Cam Cover [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Tensioner [/*:m:a9568] Chromed 150Ah Alternator + new chrome pulley [/*:m:a9568] Chromed VW Motorsport Badge [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Dipstick [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Battery Cover [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Stainless Steel Battery Clamp [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Wiper Mechanism [/*:m:a9568] Chromed & Modified Header Tank Cap [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Header Tank mounting bracket [/*:m:a9568] Engine hooks removed [/*:m:a9568] Stainless Bolts throughout [/*:m:a9568] Black Samco Hose Kit [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Hose clips + Stainless Hose clips [/*:m:a9568] Pipercross Induction Kit [/*:m:a9568] Polished Brand New Distributor [/*:m:a9568] New VAG Fuel Pump [/*:m:a9568] New Clutch Slave + Master Cylinder Chassis[/*:m:a9568] FK Coilovers (lowered 100mm) [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Top Mounts [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Top Mount Covers [/*:m:a9568] Chromed Eibach Strutbrace [/*:m:a9568] Polished Stainless Steel Rear Strutbrace [/*:m:a9568] Powerflex polybushes alround [/*:m:a9568] Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses + Stainless Fixings Wheels[/*:m:a9568] 8.5 x 17” RH ZW1 Split rims (Front) [/*:m:a9568] 9.5 x 17” RH ZW1 Split rims (Rear) [/*:m:a9568] Ball polished rears + polished faces [/*:m:a9568] Polished 20mm Wheel Adaptors + 3mm spacers @ rear [/*:m:a9568] Stainless Steel Valves [/*:m:a9568] 215/35/17 Pirelli Pzero Nero (Front) [/*:m:a9568] 225/35/17 Pirelli Pzero Nero (Rear) Body/Exterior[/*:m:a9568] Full Re-spray inc [/*:m:a9568] Extended + Rolled Arched [/*:m:a9568] Smoothed Front Bumper with relocation No. Plate [/*:m:a9568] Smoothed Rear Bumper with Frenched in Number plate with toweye removed [/*:m:a9568] Flushed Tailgate + Solenoid Opening [/*:m:a9568] Smoothed Rear Panel + seams remove [/*:m:a9568] Smooth/removed seam in tailgate shut. Corrado Forum Car of the Year - Bodywork
Shilakadaddy replied to Shilakadaddy's topic in General Car Chat
oh yeah I kinda forgot about these  I'll be taking the two best cars from each category and putting them into a new overall poll which'll decide the best car of 2004. However for now I'd say you've won this category :) -
I'm usually around Stockton, Middlesbrough area (find me on the A66 or A19 :) ) ^ Its not as low as that... but thats the only recent pic I have atm :)
-
It'd be so cool to have both! I'd love to do that... have a VR6 everyday car, and then a stipped out, tuned G60 :D But seriously, from the sounds of it you can't really lose.. even a worst case scenario you'll break even if you sell it
