If you have a sony ericsson with the headphones that come in two parts, you can just plug the headphones output lead with the mic on it straight into the aux in or ipod input on your stereo if it is reasonably good. You will need either a double mini co-ax (headphones jack to headphones jack) lead if it's an ipod input, or a phono to co-ax if it's a aux input in the back of your head unit. Both these leads cost about 3 pounds. If you store your music on your phone (2meg cards cost 20 quid on ebay)you can play it through the stereo and you get the music muting if you get a call, and all the sounds and calls come out through the car speakers just as they would with a proper hands free, it works really really well, and costs zip.

Just ordered some p-zeros in 215/40/17....Thanks guys

I'm parking on the street these days now I've managed to buy a house at last  , unfortunately not one with a garage :x Unfortunately I had to sell my wife's car to afford the house!!! So she's now driving mine!! The trouble and strife doesen't understand caring about my wheels as much as I do  and I'm hoping to escape the inevitable scraped rims by fitting wider tyres but do 215's fit? My arches aern't modified but the car isn't slammed either....

I'm the third and fifth owner of my C!! They get under your skin!!!
-
My missus can't reach the pedals, good thing too as she's blind as a bat with ear muffs and bangs into everything.
-
Hey Nice Corrado you have there pity it has to go.... I'm constantly 'going to sell it next month' but still have it 3 years and 65k further! .....just been reading through this thread and noticed you had an ABS problem you fixed by changing a valve, is this an easy job? I think my C must have the same problem as it's showing a sensor fault with 2 new front sensors.....
-
hi buddy welcome to the expensive world of corrado ownership, lots of love and just as much hate  !! thought of putting a stainless exhaust on it? The VR sounds sweet......

I'm trying to find out what is an acceptable reading for the front sensors on my Always Breaking System.....I've taken readings of both and rhs is 1.13 and the lhs is 2.4, is the lhs one broken then or is that acceptable and I'm barking up the wrong tree? help most appreciated, 50k without it working now and had it 'fixed' so many times resorted to doing it myself instead of the stealers!!

I once had a rear engine mount go causing the engine to rock forwards under heavy cornering and reversing, this in turn ploughed the alternator belt into the chassis leg making a grinding and when the pulley hit -a graunching sound! Took me ages to work out what it was! Needless to say I've replaced all the mounts now! Just check the belt/chassis leg by the alternator for rubbing..

Hey Pip, nice split. I had a '68 for a while a few years ago, ended up spending rediculous amounts of money on it doing the resto-cal thing and then selling it before I went bancrupt! Welcome to the world of Corrado ownership.....Doesn't look like much is going down in Dorset at the moment!!

All fixed now, just bypassed the plug for the moment. Ok dr_mat 'Clean up' might have been a bit misleading- it meant - new plugs/leads, thermostat, oil, filter, pump & sump, clean idle stabilizer and TB, water pump, recon gearbox, and finally got the front crossmember and a few other bits powder coated as it was rusting badly .....oh and I cleaned everything of course. Check out the results...

how do you go about ordering lhd bits? local dealers?
-
Checking out the wiring I found this little sucker had broken off, it comes from terminal 31 on the big round connector for the engine, where the hell does the wire lead to/come from and how do you get the plug open, I dont want to break it for obvious reasons, re-attaching it didn't do much to help the misfiring etc but it sparks to connect when the car's running so I'm sure it's doing something!!
-
I made this a while ago and I've been asked about it several times, it's a Lupo wiper welded to an original Corrado one.............it's a good compramise between loosing the wiper totally and being able to see out the back to see who you've overtaken!!
-
good idea, i'll stick a jump lead straight over to the block ang see what happens.............
-
Thinking about it, it is all the sensors attached to the block giving the bad results isn't it, so yes earth sounds like a likely suspect....
-
no, I'll try that, it's No.109 isn't it?

I have recently had to replace my gearbox which I decided to take as an opportunity to take out the engine (which was running smooth as silk), give it a good clean up and then put it all back again. Trouble is now it doesent run smoothly at all! I've hooked it up to VC which originally told me 0052 engine coolant sensor- so I replaced it today. Still ran rough , hooked it up again, and this time I was told 00515 Cam pos'n sensor, 00522 coolant sensor again, 00553 MAF sensor. I also ran a check on the Immobilizer and it gave me this 00546 data wiring fault (27-00 Implusable signal). What the hell is going on!!!! Is there a way to bypass the immobilizer or take it out! I think it's causing the car to cut out. When I had VC hooked up the first time the engine cut out and VC stopped responding indicating that there was no power being supplied to the ECU. Any ideas/help out there?

have you tried the fuel pump relay, ecu relay and ignition switch? These are common problems.....

I was going to get a whole load of carbon doors/wings and bonnets made a couple of years ago, I managed to get a quote of 150 per wing 400 per bonnet and 800 per door/bootlid ,but only if i managed to get large enough orders ie ten of each! I put an ad out on the performance vw site and had not one reply!! So I ditched the idea. At the time I worked closely with the company (MCT in Daventry) developing some carbon gullwing doors and other bits for a GT car I was involved with. Since then I've moved on but I know the guy who runs the place quite well, I could ask him if the quotes still apply? If I can be of any help to then please don't hesitate to ask! Chris

Some good advice needed (Radweld question with prob history)
KipVR replied to Ka`'s topic in Engine Bay
Hi Rica, just to let you know I had exactly the same problems with my corrado, ended up being the fuel pump.....This is easy to check, when it's happening turn off the engine, disconnect the fuel feed next to the airbox and see how the fuel is coming out....You'll need a buddy for this job to turn the ignition on to prime the pump while you hold a collector for the fuel. Don't despair with your C too much, I think many owners will agree with me that Corrado's are a strictly love hate relationship! Chris -
Ahh, having looked at others on this website I discovered it was the door lock mechanism stuck half way, seems to be quite common! 1 tent peg stuck down in between the seals with the window down did the trick!! Took the whole of the central locking system in the boot apart first though, doh!!!!
-
Can anyone advise me what to do in this situation:- The cental locking seems to have packed up on my passenger side door. I can see the door pin rising but then it sinks down again and it won't let me pull it back up to release the lock (I havent tried excessive force)! This means I can't get the door card off to get at the vaccum hose which I presume is leaking somewhere.....

Right, I've just got a sh crank sensor and relay 109, so tomorrow I'm going to plug them in and see what happens. Just to make it clear, it does sometimes start for longer than half a second, it will go for a few minutes before shutting down, I'm wondering if it is the fuel relay too, does anyone know which number one this is? thanks for all your help guys, missing driving it already Chris

Ah so the ecu doesn't have to have to be coded with the transponder CU? The reason VAG are telling me I have to pay up is because apparently they could not find fault with the ECU until the T CU was replaced, smells bad to me! Any way thanks for your advice, I'll ask them to check it. How easy is it to replace the crank sensor? Nice C by the way, looks identical to mine, only different colour.
