Would you be interested in sourcing and modifying another one and posting it over the pond. PM me with a price if your interested? :) -

You don't have a part no. for the origional audi manifold do you? We don't have 5000s Audis in the uk and I'm struggling to id which car/manifold I should be looking for!! Did it look like this origionally? -

Right I see! So you can't buy these off the shelf, you have to make them yourself? Who made yours? Whats the advantage larger runners? Or is the fact that they have a straight longer run into the ports of the head? -

Good work man my head is spinning :turn-l: looking at all this stuff your doing. What's that rear engine mount your using and where did you get that intake manifold from? :) -
Whats a ball park figure to get an engine bored out?
CTWG60 replied to dirtytorque's topic in Engine Bay
You can stack gaskets to lower compression and it will work but you will be prone to blow-by, cooked compression rings and your flame travel will be all messed up giving you bad fuel consumption and reduced preformance over what could be achieved with a 2ltr bottom end. The Yanks do it alot but then where did we get the term "cowboy job" from? And they don't give a monkeys about fuel consumption. :? Just my stance on stacked gasket plus it's just too easy to do oh and it'll mess with your valve and ignition timing. DON'T DO IT YOUR BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!!!!!!! -
Did you ever feel a performance increase from this mod? I've always doubted it A: because you have to manually lube the charger. B: yes you get fresh cool air but the boost return air reduces charger power drain from the engine because the air re-entering has positive pressure. C: you don't have to lisyen to woooosh everytime you change gear which surely must get embarrassing eventually if not annoying! Thoughts? :)

Mechano has a lot to answer for the mental health of certain individuals of today's society!!!

I'd like to see a torque curve of a standard BAM/APX against a tweaked BAM/APX engine that puts out 278lb/ft with just a chip remap.

BAM found in the following BAM, R 4 Gasoline, 1781 cm

Depends on how much induction you are going to force. I'll just be starting off at 9:1 rather than 8:1 so as you say with a big intercooler, better fueling and modern higher octane fuel I should be fine. Besides getting it any lower with such a short block, long stroke and unmodified 8v head ain't easy especially when you don't want to use forged pistons. Pitstop do 9:1 bottom ends and swear by them, giving more torque lower down. IIRC bluejoe's was 9.3:1!!! Running a 60mm pulley gives you the same result more air and fuel being compressed lower in the rev range. :) You can do alot with a 2.0L 16VG60 engine. If your serious phone JMR. I did and he almost/did convince me it was the way to go, and I'm still thinking about it but it's alot more work, alot (speak to Yanards) :? -

g60bv, What was the spec on your old engine? -

I agree. Leave the head stock and get the bottom end sorted out. Get it mapped and see what the torque curve looks like. This is why I intend to leave all internals other than the block standard, I'm curious to see what a stock head and charger with a 65mm pulley and big intercooler will do with a higher compression 2ltr bottom end all exhausting through a big manifold and through exhaust. I'm hoping to see good improvements to the torque curve between 1000 and 3000 rpm. :) I'm just not into reving the bollocks off of engines, I must be getting old! :? -

I do have an oilcooler but it only cools the oil after it reaches +90deg I retained the oil to water cooler to help warm up the oil quicker to 90deg. Anyway nearly all people do the CNC BV head before the bottom end but me being slighty errm individual shall I say have decided to do the bottom end before even touching the Charger or Head party due to circumstances but also because doing the block presents a little more interest and the resultant torque curve and engine characterisic may be more pleasing to me but then again maybe not. It's an unaswered question to my mind so therefore interesting. You could fit a BV CNC head first and get good figures as you seem to have done all the other common mods already. Ever had it on a Rolling Road?
