  1. Taking your advise on the hand gun. :)
  2. I'm glad they called it the new scirocco and didn't call it the new corrado! That would of p1ssed me off. Maybe people will stop asking me whether my car is the scirocco once this thing has stamped the scirroco's coupe image from their brains! off topic: A petrol attendant just two weeks ago said is yours the scirocco to which I replied "The corrado. Yes" He then said "oh right yeah I'm not very good with 80's cars!" I just smiled and shook my head. Think I'll buy a magnum hand gun for such occasions. And say to these people "call it scirroco again, make my day"
  3. It may look better in the flesh. Don't want to complete condemn it, but those photos make it look like the new Astra.
  4. Looks more interesting too! :)
  5. Err Yes! Err Yes! Yes, because Co2 doesn't cause global temperatures to rise. Co2 levels rise due to rises in global temperature during previous years! I won't be arguing this point with you Doctor as we would be here all week and it's a pointless argument. Don't you now! How interesting! Thank you for correcting me Doctor! But I'll stick with what I think, thank you. Well actually I wasn't just talking about it's looks, I was talking about it's design and potential fuel economy. I thought it was interesting not pretty! Ps. Are you really a Doctor and if so of what? Or is your forum name some sort of texting style abbreviation for "door mat"?
  6. Bloody hell. That thing looks like a Vauxhall Astra. :|
  7. Studied this quite a bit. The maximum you can safely get with a 2 ltr 236 mm block is 2164 cc thats 83 mm bore 100 mm stroke, but it will reduce your rod ratio to 1.59 and your bore to stroke ratio to 0.83 this ratio is almost the same as a 1.9 ltr diesel engine with a 79 mm bore and 95.5 mm stroke so you create an engine that gives you more low end but will not rev as high easily and I would only consider for a fairly small turbo or big Supercharger application. The 2 ltr 220 mm engine can be taken out to 83 mm and given a 95.5 mm stroke but your rod ratio will be very close to what is deemed acceptable for any conventional 4 stroke engine which is 1.5:1. So low ratio rod/stroke and bore/stroke creates low end torque but is slower to rev and more limited in it's rev range. I personally wouldn't mind that but it'd have to be a FI engine. For track use I'd go the other way but with a larger turbo. I to after much research would not go near a 1.8 with an increased stoke there just isn't the room unless like Henny you can get hold of the mythical 90mm crank which with an 83 mm bore will get you to 1940 or there abouts. Just my thoughts from some extensive reading on this matter.
  8. I hate eco cars but this looks cool....... "http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/volkswagen/preview-vw
  9. This guy is struggling with a large capacity G60 engine over on dubforce. Feel bad for him can anyone offer advise? http://www.dubforce.net/forums/index.ph ... =13029&hl=
  10. The police will be round tomorrow to slap the cuffs on for handling stolen goods and for murder one.
  11. Regarding the numbers posted. I know I've broken up a polo 20 years ago and a mk2 golf 6 years ago and currently an audi 80 which will never see the road again and I don't think the DVLA were ever informed about the first two and how many scrap yards are organised I mean I bet they'd take the shell away without even asking for the docs! so all you can really surmise is that there are less than the above. With regards to the storm figures, storms weren't a limited run were they but an end of run estimated at 500 or am I talking out my arse. I always thought storms were a sales pitch to get rid of the last of the stock, no offense meant! What would be better would be a count of corrados which have current tax or have held tax in the last year. That's a better indication of Corrados still in use although granted enthusiast take them off the road it still gives a better indication. Can your mate do that? Also ask him how he got the Storm number!
  12. Might be worth seeing how much Audioscape want for it first, but otherwise if you each want 2 rolls and there's 5 of yis, that makes it £3 a roll posted... Already bought my 2 rolls!
  13. I don't know if you can answer this but what happens to the pistons running in the bores without oil and the shells.
  14. Are you saying these guys can build a bottom end including, pistons and con rods attached to the crank and spin the lot and balance it? If they can surely this must be expensive?
  15. Thanks for all that info just what I was after :)
  16. OK 'm thinking about making one of these up but if I can explain how I think these work it will put me on the right track as no ones posted a wiring diagram as yet and Andy seems overloaded already. You use the existing loom with relays to give voltage through the other side of the relays directly from the battery to the bulbs 1 relay and fuse per bulb or one for side/dip and one for main. To be clear the old loom only acts as a signal to the relay to open the circuit and allow the lights to be lit direct from the battery. Am I right do I get a star. :?:
  17. This one then would be the best solution. Cloth tape, adhesive. Black Rayon cloth harnessing tape. Halogen free, self extinguishing. 19mm x 12metre Ref: 3380 £2.47 each, £22.27 for 10. Shame their postage is ridiculously expensive! I'll give GSF a try see if they have any. Tks
  18. Anyone know which of these is most similar to the VAG tape that is now disintegrating in the engine bay of my 91 G60 :) Cheers http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... .php#cloth
  19. is your abf turbo a work in progress or is it on the road? any pics. :0) I know what your thinking you naughty boy! And here was me going to buy that block off you for my next insanely expensive project. :)
  20. Thanks for the info Steve I was wanting to change this part of the loom before fitting the new bottom end and new injectors as it wasn't looking to clever last time I looked. off topic: Have you managed to dig out those cam spec's for the 1.9 P3 Newman cam we talked about. It's Chris from Formby by the way incase you were wondering who the hell I am. :)
  21. Just curious, anymore info or a link?
  22. Bit off topic --- I generally don't see many body modified corrados that appeal to me. But I found this today and I absolutely love it! I still wouldn't have it as a daily car but as a fun track and show car this would be cool; all stripped out but clinically clean inside and ready to race.
  23. What like this Chavalier :) Spotted on New Years Eve while shopping. PMSL
  24. Interesting idea. You would never see the extra power on a rolling road of course but it could potentially improve part throttle response and reduce pinking on hot days in stop start traffic like water injection. Fit a big intercooler first as it makes a big difference to the engines character. I'm not a fan of boost return deletion but this sounds like a good idea but the cost of development might make it a bad idea.
  25. Today I removed the headliner to replace the sunroof mechanism but on removing the headliner all the foam strips disintegrated. Anyone found a good solution for refitting the headliner or a place to get the correct foam for refitting? Thanks. Also anyone know a part no. for the foam that goes around the interior wiring as a lot of the fell to bits as well :? ?.
