  1. That's a hell of an improvement, do you put that down to improved/adequate fueling allowing you to run more advance with the emerald ECU? What rpm were you at and what were your wheel/transmission losses. Looking forward to the graphs. :) 300 is only a number remember, so don't be breaking it, just reduce your tyre pressures a little that should do it. Anyway leave something for the other guys on here to aim for!
  2. Oh good! :) I think a lot of people are seething with jealously reading this. Thought you might be using an auto body on there. Don't you break it nos now. I'm sure you'll sort it out. Not calling you a liar or anything but if I could request and at the wheel graph and it running up from around 1000rpm that would be nice. Bit cheeky I know but if you don't ask.......... I have a problem with RR guestimates and I know this setup has the potential with emerald the tall block and the 4-1 ex. for good bhp numbers. Keep up the good work I'm well impressed with it and your honesty. :thumbleft:
  3. Must be smooth with the g60 boost, 2.0ltrs and them 159mm rods. Does the 4-1 branch clear everything ok? Where did you get it? Any bonnet clearance issues with the taller block? Are you running a throttle position sensor? Sorry about all the questions. I've dreamt up a similar setup for a 2ltr 16vG60 so find this engine really interesting even though doing a similar project is not on the cards at the moment. Not wanting to sound like some sort of thread groupy there, if you know what I mean. :) I'm working on a 2ltr 8v at the mo and it's driving me nuts, going more for maximum low to mid range torque.
  4. Ha! You make it sound too easy! I want to start making a loom right away. :) This is the first 2ltr 16vG60 that's got me excited. How would you describe the driving experience?
  5. Wow a power curve for a 16vG60 got to be a first for corrado.net, heard good things about Emerald from speaking to Steve PSD how does it idle? What happens below 2500rpm ? Is the graph at the flywheel or wheels? Are you running an PG ISV, knock sensor or EGT?
  6. Bracket and broke plastic bit are fairly cheap. speed sendors are the same although I know what you mean.
  7. PMSL I used to drive my wife clio 1.2 16v alot (it's a long story) but after I managed to get a rear drum shoe lining to come away from the shoe and then the clutch lining failed on me I thought I'd better get another old VW to drive. Hence the Corrado. I was ragging the arse of the clio trying to go as quickly as I used to in my old golf Gti hence the failures. Anyway I now have two children a MiniMPV and don't suffer road race rage as I have the corrado to satisfy my needs. I know where your coming from though there are a lot of men out there in practical family cars trying to force themselves into believing it something special to behold. They could have a special day at santa pod every year for them. They could run their cars with the child seat stripped out to improve their quarter miles. They are stuck between a rock and hard place though in the fast lane, they've got the engine screaming at them and doing nothing, the wifes in the passenger seat telling them to slow down, two kids moaning/crying in the back and then they have YOU on their tale wondering why they don't go quicker! Poor Sods!
  8. abf for kr cam swap is pointless. Your exchanging duration for lift for negligible net difference. Ah, but jezza is using a 2ltr bottom end which has 159mm rods and a longer stroke, obviously, so duration would help with exhausting the gasses. I'm not so sure with a 1.8 kr bottom end as you may end up with so much overlap due to the extra duration you just end up pushing fresh fuel and air mixture straight out the exhaust port.
  9. It's just a sales gimmic to get morons to buy a car. They aren't worried about the details of a dead end product that financially raped them! Hmm just like these cars are doing to us as owners now. :)
  10. Yes it's the current cables are used on both golf mk3 ,passats of roughly the same year and so the box is a straight swap over. It should come with a shift weight which helps changes and I think it has a redesigned shift tower to help gearchanges. good luck with it. I'd want it delivered for that price though or very low mileage. If it's missing anything knock him down £50 and pick up the missing bits for less than £20 from the stealers. :) edit oh sorry it is all in isn't it.
  11. Mine was bonded to the box so I didn't attempt to break this bond for fear of damage or moisture ingress, mike's came out easy but he still had to adjust the cable to get the correct shifting. I'd just get a box with the brackets attached. It's your choice. If you don't use the diesel bracket you have to use a plug or bolt to fill the extra hole left by using the earlier bracket. I imagine it is pretty easy to swap the towers if you decide to go that route but as I said you'll still be adjusting the cables at the end of the day unless you get real lucky.
  12. Well 7400 rpm on a 68mm pulley would put the charger at 14004 rpm. So I wouldn't rev it that high. I'd use a 65mm and not rev the tits off of it, but thats me. Why don't you try it before you sell it? And maybe change the map sensor and fiddle with the ISV bleed off. Just a suggestion.
  13. Surely you could say that about the Corrado on paper? Yet it kicks the Golf and the Passat that it borrows bits from. You're all non-believers! You're all saying it couldn't possibly be the next scirocco or corrado. Except for the fact that the motoring press are loving it and nobody is going to buy one. Sounds like the next Corrado to me then. Er, even if it isn't a coupe.... :) Don't suppose you watched that program that was on the telly recently about making good decisions did you? Apparently the human mind will go to great lengths to justify bad decisions! :)
  14. Apparently according to AutoExpress this "stunning new VW coupe............. has classic coupe proportions"
  15. 8k on a 68mm is 15140 rpm. You'd be a brave man, I don't think wear would be the issue it'd be the eccentric scroll exploding or bearing failure. EDIT: Safe maximum operating speed set by VW was 13500 not 13400.
  16. Exactly my sentiments it's just marketing strategy. If they lie about it enough maybe everyone will start to believe it. King's new clothes type thing. By the way I hate it. It looks seriously dodgy from certain angles! You watch, this is the new look from VW to give customers everything they want like affordability, low mpg, sporty, a coupe, sex appeal, room for two kids in the back, boot space, cubby holes, cup holders, in car entertainment. I think it's designed like it is so they can use the same chassis to build a big people carrier using a different body to lower production costs like every other car manufacturer. The real thing VW have done wrong here is call it a scirocco, which it just blatantly is not! "IROC" you suck cock!
  17. All hatchbacks of a certain size are now coupes if they only have 2 doors all hatchbacks that are slightly taller than normal are now mini MPV's. The Nissan Almera was a fairly large comfortable hatchback now it's a small bus! It's just the way of world! We own a Nissan Note which is just a tall Micra, it's a bit poo but reliable and cheap. EDIT: I bet the Golf Plus will be the new Golf! You'll never make that thing look cool!
  18. you won't if all the little bits of your magnesium scroll end up in your pistons!
  19. Stock pulley and revs, 78mm and 6200 rpm, gives 10400 rpm at the charger so 68mm and 7600 rpm will put the charger at 14383 rpm. I can't remember the safe limit but I think it's 13400 rpm but some one else would need to confirm. The spreadsheet for this was made a long time ago. 7000 rpm would put the charger at 13247 rpm on a 68 mm pulley.
  20. Your not wrong here's some shots funnily enough in the same puke colour! It's a sporty brava, VAG haven't bought fiat on the sly have they?
  21. It's a cave man thing. After shelter, water, food, reproduction (probably accidental but hey it's a by-product of sex), then after love comes cars or if you're a bit gay "watching/being one of 22 men pissing around on a field with a ball" and then cars.
  22. Feel left out so thought I'd post anyways, I'm sure dirtytorque won't mind me messing up his thread. :) I made 191.57bhp@wheels@5700rpm and 198.39ft-lbs@wheels@4100rpm but I cheated I had a 65mm, K&N panel filter and stock new G60 SC, Golf G60 FMIC and pipework, a G-werks manifold and through custom pipewerx 3 box SS exhaust, and custom audi 80 diesel oilcooler and SNS chip. Ahhh, that felt good. 8)
  23. I know what you mean I'm trying to get a modified engine built for my G60 and it's killing me waiting for this to arrive that guy to do this etc,you want to move it along and end up looking at other cars! Nearly bought a mk1 polo at the weekend, don't ask. Took me three hours to come to my senses but still looking around on the web at them.
  24. Did you get your fuel leak and exhaust sorted out? Please make sure you get it on a Rolling Road if your happy with it so we can see an at the wheel torque curve for one of these 16VG60's. I can't say I liked your modded front member or original belt routing, not that I know what I'm talking about, but good work man! You should start your own business if your that industrious with everything you do. :thumb right: Let us all know how the CTN box feels! It's gonna be hard for you to evaluate the engine/gearbox on the road when comparing it to your old engine and gearbox as everything has changed almost, but I think your the right man to give us all the low-down on all the future/current issues and how it compares to an 8v. As I say excellent work mate I've lost count of the number of 16vG60 threads/builds that seem to fizzle out near the end, no offense meant to anyone, it is a tuff thing to build. Maybe this will give them the motivation to finish. :)
