Just bought it but won't be able to listen to it till i get home though :x What is the story with the shite cd cover thing with the cd slotted into the bit in the middle? Surely thats is gonna damage the cd over time? Maybe thats the Metallica tactic so you bugger it up and buy another copy and make them more money!! Gonna go a ride in the beast tonight and have a listen 8)

good to hear joe. I heard a couple of tracks on the website at early development stages and they sounded baws. Was gonna buy it anyway cause the 'tallica boys kick ass and i'm going to see them at leeds on 22nd august!!! woo-hoo!!! 8)

Since changing my discs and pads from zimmerman cross-drilled and ebc pads to zimmerman cross-drilledand pagid fast road pads my wheels get totally covered in brake dust after about 2 days (hardly use the car though). Probably cause the ebc ones were shite and I had a warped disc on the left. Feels much better to stop with so I'll put up with excess brake dust. This set-up came highly recommended by bedrock veedubs.

I think that they are just glued on. I'm gonna remove mine before it goes into the bodyshop in the summer. Someone has posted about this before (can't remember who though) and I recall them saying that careful heating from a hir dryer will get them off. There will be a difference in paint beneath the strips as that bit of the car will never had sunlight shining on it to fade it away. Be prepared to t-cut like a madman or get it down the local bodyshop.

Get the badgless one sprayed to match the rest of the paintwork. Looks best IMHO

Not got a multi-changer (yet) so the clutter of cd's in my glove box are: 1-audioslave - audioslave 2-metallica - s&m 3-ac/dc - if you want blood 4-ozzy osbourne - blizzard of ozz 5-rage against the machine - battle of los angeles 6-metallica - garage inc. Miss the 10 cd changer of the gti. Pain in the arS£ changing cds all the time

Gauge was already fitted. Will keep my eye on the water temp (now I know that is what it tells me) and see if it is around 90 deg. At what temp (water on dash) should the cooling fan kick in anyway? If it turns out that the guy before has fitted an old gauge using the original sender I'll go mental. Funny how it all started to go wrong when the radiator cooling fan switch went on the blink. How can you tell if it's calibrated properly and would a mis-calibrated vdo gauge cause the temp reading to be too high and cause the warning light to go on? Thanks for your input, I just wanna get it working ok.
-
The temp on the mfa doesn't work because of the vdo temp gauge in the dash. (only 1 can work at a time apparently) The standard temp gauge works now that I've had the rad fan cooling switch replaced. Everything was fine when I got it (I drove it from birmingham to glasgow no probs) until the damn thing overheated one day. Fan switch away. got it fixed and coolant changed and everything ok till I took it out a "proper" drive and the warning light came on (not enough feckin coolant in the bottle!). Got it topped up, checked for airlock the other day and level is ok. Drove to IKEA tonight and the temps are still quite high on the vdo gauge in the dash. Am i perhaps a muppet and the vdo temp guage is for the water temp? Only had it nearly 4 months and don't know what is happening. My golfs before never had any overheating problems (apart from the fuel shortage incident) but they were not as high performance as the G60. I'm hoping that it isn't an expensive bit!!

Something has went a bit Pete Tong on the VWCCGB website. The domain provider has disconnected the site as they have not accessed it for over 30 days. Just to let you know. If I'm wrong, feel free to rochambo me!

Still reaching 130ish on hard runs on the motorway and in heavy traffic. Coolant level is fine now and the warning light hasn't come on...... yet. If it keeps coming on, what could it be???
-
MIne also pops when changing from third to fourth when I'm giving it some. Is it worth worrying about? Could I be running slightly rich?
-
i put a post on here at the weekend. Where'd it go?

Someone suggested checking for airlock in the system. I took the cap off and ran the engine till the fan came on and the coolant level went up to above max (cause the system wasn't pressurised) and some air did bubble out. Put the cap back on and let it cool yesterday. Not had a chance to give it a run yet but the coolant level worries me slightly. Thanks for your advice guys but the radiator seems to be heating up all over ok. Is it worth while replacing the thermostat anyway? Cheers

Just had my radiator cooling fan switch replaced as the old one was knackered. All of the coolant was replaced and everything was working fine until the other day. Was driving the car home from a friends and the oil warning light started to flash and bleep at me. On further inspection the coolant level was too low. Sorted that out and thought that would be the problem solved. (get on with it) The point is that the temp of the engine on long(ish) drives or when in heavy traffic hits around 130 (and sometimes more) and on a couple of occasions the warning light has came on. Any ideas? The fan does come on, there is enough coolant and is at the right mix. Also just had the car serviced if that helps. Would like to get to the bottom of this so all help will be appreciated.

I had this problem after I got my alarm fitted. The plug under the steering cloumn that connects the MFA to where it needs to go has probably come loose. All you need to do is remove the lower part of the dash at the drivers side and you should see the plug hanging out. I'm pretty sure it can only go in one place so it shouldn't be too hard. The guy who fitted my alarm sorted it so you might have to remove a couple more bits to get to it. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on, Grim

I changed the bulbs in my G60 to blue but not the one behind the digital clock or mileage bit. How did you do that on your friends dash? Looks sweet.

biggrim replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Suppliers Forum
That's outrageous!!! How can they justify £575 labour? Do you not have any friends who are mechanics that could do it for you? -
