^^ as above no problems with mine fitted now for over a year or from previous cars. Only heard of fire due to oil contamination as above.. you can help prevent this by sealing the wrap with high temp paint.

VR6 Lots of vibration/no power following oil change
steve @ replied to Son_of_Thor's topic in Engine Bay
I know this might sound like a silly question but have you made sure the oils not overfilled? -
Do u mean the top mounts? if so no you dont need to uprate them, just renew them all from here: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/

Help me to decide...Alfa 156 / 166 or Golf 4Motion
steve @ replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
Could you not get a 156 2.0 JTS slightly more power (165bhp) and torque for 2.5k? Although I'd probably still go for the 4 mo. -
Thread resurrection I know but just came across the info on mine. Delivered March 1996, chassis ends 3998, am I right in saying it is then the 45th last produced Corrado from the factory?!?!

something like a bmc or CAI will give you gains ~ 5-7bhp, an open filter in the engine bey WILL loose you power.

Hi Ben, I currently run these pads on the front. They require very little initial braking to get them working well, so wouldnt worry about that. Mines a daily driver and I have never been caught out by them first thing in the morning. They really are awesome pads with a very hard bite and havent showed any signs of fade. Only down sides are a lot of brake dust and they are pretty aggressive with regards to eatting discs. For a track car though you cant go wrong!

Nice cars my old man has the 2.0 TFSI VRS as well as the old shape 1.8t VRS (for sale if anyones interested?) also a fabia VRS on the drive too, my poor VR6 is left out! Its quite a big improvment over the old Octavia VRS, engine actually has some character and doesnt feel souless for a start! still find the brakes a little to sensitive though. I ve not driven the TDI but bet it goes quite well! :D

Fresh fluid and Ferrodo DS3000 pads, holly crap do they work well !! (thats on standard brakes having replaced EBC greenstuff pads) only down side is they are quite dusty and noisy.

lmao  p.s welcome Vik, a cracking motor you have there!!

Yeah it makes sense. I was also looking into using the r32/TT solid rubber rear wishbone bushes.

I believe you can use a 12v throttle. Here was a post on edition 38 from RWD19T who knows his stuff! "a naturally aspirated R32 was mapped using a smaller VR6 throttle body and no further mods done and it made a healthy 283(6)hp (can't remember which it was now) on some very reputable conservativelly calibrated rollers" -
back end looks like a proton! :s

With 168bhp at the wheels I recon your pushing more than 180bhp at the fly more like 190-195bhp.

Regarding chains i would inspect the top tensioner and guide by removing the inlet manifold, cam cover and top chain cover pretty easy to do if you can use a spanner. As for the fuel pump never heard of two?!? just one in tank, quite expensive ~£100. I would try replacing the fuel filter (if its not been changed recently) and run some thing like Forte gas treatment through the system to see if that helps.

looks hard as nails! like it alot 8)

Ferrodo DS3000's are awesome! they are quite dusty and can be noisy but boy do they stop well!
-
second that^^ didnt the saab 900/93 use the cav's platform as well?
-
Yup I believe so :confused4:

Sure is, you need to use a 3.68 final drive which can be sourced from a g60 box. Another option is to swap the bell housing over to a MKIII GTI 16v box. I plan on doing this to mine when funds alow 8)
