Looking around at the prices of Corrados there are big price differences  There are the Storms at £3500-£5000+ Vr6`s are on the floor at the moment. The £1500 VR is out there but is it worth it? I have had a look at a few VR`s so far and see basket cases to breakers from £1000 and less on Ebay. I don`t really want to drive 300+ miles and then it only makes it 25 miles back before needing transported(like one of our members recently found to his cost   ) Is a cheap VR a viable proposition ? Ideally I am looking for something to keep in the garage over the winter and restore. But I don`t want a complete dog :) I don`t need it as daily driver or for a specific date or show just a project to throw money at   What are the opinions on cheap VR`s are they worth the hassle?

I wouldnt bother trying it before ED38. Something is bound to go wrong :( Especially if you are going tomorrow. :) Wish I was going :(

Ok will just wait and see what comes along. Think I will try for as late a project VR6 as possible  Lets face it they are all projects now

I had a G60 years ago and had a nasty rumble coming from the engine but only under acceleration. It was a real low down rumble but was only on acceleration, was nearly un detectable in normal driving. Turned out one of the conrod bolts had sheared, quite common on the G60 I believe. Ended up dropped the sump and found the bolt in the oil. Replaced the bolt had no further bother. Hope this helps somehow.

Think there are an extra two hoses in the Corrado kit too :)

Theres a couple of nice Corrados for sale on Scottishvag now. Got my eye on a few just need to decide what I want. Whether its to be a cheap project VR6 which will spend all winter in my garage or to get a nice late model with little to do but drive it. :D :D Decisions decisions

Heres a few pics of what I had on mine :) MKIV on LM reps MKV On BBS VZ

is there any advantage to converting from an early dash to a later version? Probably slightly more modern as Roddy says. I can see the benefits doing the door cards as I think the electric window switches are better placed on the door speaker pockets :)
-
mystic blue being a Storm only colour, whereas Classic Green was available on the rest of the range,so its possible to even make a bottom of the range 8v in Classic green with the Beige Leather option into a Storm look-a-like just add colour coded grille(easy DIY) Sony CD player BBS Solitude alloys(v rare in 4 stud admittedly) 2xStorm badges and you have a look-alike  I prefer the later interior as it just looks more modern and classier whereas the early interior looks more 80's Hey Rodders I knew you would be along sooner or later with your Storm input  I think the earlier dash does look quite retro

I was wondering how many people on here have the early model VR6. Probably 1992 K or L plate ? How do you find them as the dash and interior is slightly different. As far as I can see the dash has different switches heater controls and vents. Does this make it more reliable over the later ones,do the same problems crop up with the heater controls and the headlight switches ? Also the door cards are different with electric window switches on the card rather than the door pockets. I dont think the seats are much different only cloth patterns ? Would an early VR6 be more of a classic in years to come compared to a run of the mill late VR6? Will they ever be collectable ? Apart from Storms Is it worh buying an early VR6 with low mileage or a cheap leggy late model project ? The car would not be a daily driver just a weekend toy to replace my ZX6R :) Decisions decisions any input would be valued :)

Ok guys been away from Corrados for more than a year now!!! Yeah hard to believe   Thing is for some reason the other day started looking at Cars for sale. Fancied getting a MK1 GTI as a winter project but on looking couldnt believe how prices have fallen on Corrados. So I could easily pick up a project Corrado for the same money or less than a MK1 GTI :luvlove The car does not have to be mint or even driveable just cheap and repairable. Ideally a VR but possibly a G60 there seems to be plenty out there more so than MK1`s The question is should I or am I just being :cuckoo: Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated, possibly the phone number to The Priory too
-
Hey Jay welcome back long time mate :) Congrats on the family starting !!! It`s all downhill now :D :D Seriously its worth it all in the end-------and thats just the car :D I`m just deciding whether to come back to the fold now too Logged on here the other day for the first time in a year and look what happens   Got my eye on a project VR --- just need to convince the wife its more appropriate than a new bathroom :D :D :D

Had a quick look on there looks good value for refurbed units :?
-
It was the Tom Tom XL IQ that I had been looking at :) At the moment Amazon is doing that model for £129.99,which seems godd value for money :? Can this be upgraded/dated with Euro/US maps or do you have to get them preloaded at time of purchase?
-
I`m guessing this is the correct area to post Sat Nav questions :? Having done a few big trips this year an got lost once or twice  I have decided to get a Sat Nav :) Now ideally I have had a look around and seems to be a minefield. What I am looking for is something upgradeable,to US and European maps speed cameras etc. Anyone got any recommendations or rejections :D I could go for the VW RNS510 for the Golf but thats fixed in the car so not transportable and £600+ :(
