before you hand over your hard earned, check the gearbox number off against ETKA, It'll tell you exactly what ratios it's got in it and IIRC what car it's out of... ;) 8)

the new Seat Ibiza has a different design of caliper... it's not badged as Brembo and is a different shape from the Brembos for the 4 stud cars... I reckon they may still fit... ;)

you should try 120 to zero with a set of Brembos then Kev! I think Jim nearly lost his eyeballs at Brunters when I demo'd to him how good they are! :lol: If that doesn't inspire you to be the first to work out how to do the New Seat Ibiza 5 stud conversion, nothing will! ;) :lol:

If you're after the original cloth, you may want to take some KY Jelly along to the dealer with you when you go to ask for the price... :| Overpriced? I can get platinum cheaper per gram! :|

GazzaG60, yeah, I seem to remember something along those lines too... IIRC, if it had air-con, it had a larger crank pulley to make up the power lost by driving the air-con compressor...

I got clocked at 139.8MPH in J-DUB in the wet and she felt fine... Nice and stable with no problems either in the steering or with wandering/tramlining... She was still pulling (all-be-it very slightly) but I had to brake to make sure I could get around the corner at the end of the straight... :| P.S. this was GPS registered speed, not the reading off my speedo and was at Bruntingthorpe proving ground with Performance VW mag...

don't forget that the dash gauge ain't exactly the most accurate thing on the planet! :roll: It's more of a comparison thing to be honest, if it goes up to the same point all the time, and cools down a bit once moving after being in traffic, don't worry about the water temps too much... 8) Obviously, if it goes up WAY past where you've seen it before, I'd have a look to find out why! ;)

Are you sure that's not a drain point? As Kev says, that looks way too neat for tinworm... :|

It could also be a dodgy starter motor... Once it gets hot the solenoid is failing/not activating properly and so you can't start the engine off the key. Try connecting a wire directly from the + on the battery to the thin wire onto the solenoid (MAKE SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR!) this effectively forces the solenoid to fire which should activate the starter motor. If this works, then you have a wiring fault or another dodgy ignition switch. If it doesn't, you have a dead solenoid. 8)

I've also heard of this (and no, I wasn't laughing! ;) ) but I have no idea if it's true or not... From what I could see on Etka, they're all the same pulley, but then Etka's not always as accurate as it should be... :roll:

My new one's Pearl Grey... I've had more comments about this one than the Aqua blue one it replaces... everyone reckons that it looks much classier and more modern... :| Odd, 'cos it's older than my last one! :?

check that the thin blue wire from the alternator is not damaged. This is the wire which turns the warning lamp on if the alternator isn't charging properly, but it will also do the same if the wire's damaged. ;)
