that's more likely to be the relief valves in the engine bay Rack, they're about £25 from VAG IIRC... 8)

All I know is that Porsche stopped using Magnatec due to the problems with oil pressure that they found it caused.... Since then it doesn't go anywhere near my engines... :| Just stick with Quanta silver (VAG's own semi-synthetic oil), it's cheap enough and is obviously good quality else VAG wouldn't sell it! ;)

red stuff is NOT suitable for VW power steering systems. You should only use the GREEN VW stuff else you'll knacker the seals and screw up the P/S completely! :| Get it changed ASAP!

you should be able to get a discount from most insurance companies if you're a regular member here. Also, don't forget to mention that you read Performance VW, The Golf+ and attended a few shows last year and intend to go to some shows this year too... ;) It's amazing what they'll give discounts for... :D 8)

Wheels Help - ET on wheel for a 16v 2.0 should be?
Henny replied to StuartFZR400's topic in Exterior
Get your tracking checked.... sounds like there's something else amiss here... 7J shouldn't suffer from tramlining much more than a 6.5J, it's only when you start getting up in the 8, 8.5 and 9J ranges that tramlining starts to be really apparent... The corrado should feel MUCH more nimble than a scirocco unless you've got 2 tonnes of ICE fitted! ;) They can do... it's worth having a play with 'em to see what you think feels best. -
erm, anyone selling ECU chips who can't spell BOSCH in their advert wouldn't get their products within about a mile of my car... :|

alternator is a 15minute job to do on a G60, but does need to come off to do the waterpump. Euro or GSF do the pump, thermostat and housing for about £35 all in... They're the same as all 1.6/1.8 4cylinder VAG engines for the last 25 years or more!
-
if the fan works when you bridge the contacts on the connector which goes onto the fan switch, then it's GOT to be a fan switch problem...
-
yup, with supercharged here... if you're doing it yourself, I'd change the waterpump while you're at it so that you know it's good, as well as the thermostat and housing... It took me about 4 hours when I had to do it to J-DUB in my garden...

Cool! nice one matey! I'll lock this up then... 8)

carpoid, J-DUB was running on 205x45x16 8) -
1) parallel - they're both 12V bulbs, so one will work if one blows 2) no idea, probably marked on the fuse box cover though 3) I know you can get 'em from Halfords, but I can't for the life of me remember what they look like... undo the 2 screws and remove the light holder and you'll be able to get at the bulbs to see what they are... 8)

there's a thread about using Peugeot ECUs on the Club GTI forum... you can pick 'em up for about £20 with loom, wire 'em in and then get the "limp home" map remapped by someone like Wayne Schofield from Chipwizards for about £350 which will then give you a perfect map for your car, as well as OEM (all be it Peugeot!) reliablity... 8)
-
from those photos, yup, I can see where you got that idea from... 8) p.s. nice looking car you have there... 8)

with kev here (hence the new car! ;) )

nope, G60s have different gear ratios... AFAIK they are interchangeable, so you could put G60 internals into a VR housing, but your ratios would be crap... that's why I put VR6 1st and 2nd gears into my G60 box so that I could have a decent 2nd gear which will do slightly over 60 instead of slightly under 40! ;) p.s. what momos? They're Borbet Cs on the blue one and Masitaly ones on the grey one...

Wheels Help - ET on wheel for a 16v 2.0 should be?
Henny replied to StuartFZR400's topic in Exterior
Yup, that's correct, it'll also get 1/2 the width increase closer to the INSIDE of the car too... ;) That's where the offset comes into play... very few cars have an offset where the wheel is EXACTLY 1/2 way between the inner and outer edges where it can catch... Don't forget that there's moving suspension components within the inner wing which can catch too and cause problems... Wider wheels can cause tramlining (car wants to follow the grooves in the road like a tram on a track), cause the steering to be heavier and don't neccessarily increase grip unless you play with the tyre pressures... -
anything pre K plate can be de-catted with no problems from the MOT man... 8) Try sending John Mitchell a PM (he's 16VG60 on the forum) as he can supply Milltek cat bypass pipes for a good cost.... 8)

yup, VR6 gearbox is VR6 fitment only due to the bell housing shape. I got hold of one for around £200 to butcher for bits for my G60/VR6 hybrid gearbox, so they are out there, it's just a question of finding one... Try http://www.vr6golf.co.uk and see if anyone there's got one for sale... ;) 8)

Wheels Help - ET on wheel for a 16v 2.0 should be?
Henny replied to StuartFZR400's topic in Exterior
just to confirm, the only reason I needed 11mm spacers was because of the design of the INSIDE of where the spokes met the rim of the Borbet C wheel I was using on J-DUB. The clearance that was needed for this part of the wheel to clear the brembo calipers meant I needed to space 'em by around 9mm, so I chose 11mm to make sure that there was a little more clearance seeing as I had to get the spacers custom made anyway so that they'd incorporate spiggot rings and be hubcentric... 8) The wheels on my new motor may well clear the Brembos with no spacers or messing about, but then, they're 17" too... :| Think I may put the new one onto the Borbets too... ;) 8) -

chrishill, yup, Correction time! Mine are et30, with 11mm front spacers to get 'em to clear the Brembo calipers! so fronts are et19 rears are et30... ;) I used to run on 'em without spacers before I went mad modding the car and they still looked and felt excellent then too! 8) -

humm... 7.5x16? Where have I seen wheels that size before? ;) 7.5x16 et 30 or 35 fit onto an early valver or G60 nicely, look great and don't mess up the ride quality much too! 8) -
That's about the going price for 'em at the moment... 8) Problem is that they just aren't selling at the moment (no cars are) 'cos of xmas screwing everybody financially... :| Sorry to hear you're thinking of selling... I hope it goes well if you do have to sell anyway... 8)

Ah, them's the bunnies! 8) Taken me smacking 7 colours out of 'em with large hammers and still going strong! :D  8)
