  1. Had to be done! ;) nice one M777CUSGTI, glad you finally got your hands on one! 8)
  2. lift up the plastic surround which holds the gear lever gator and see if the little clip on the end of the gear lever pivot shaft has come off... that'd stop you getting reverse... :|
  3. the G60 and VR6 clutches are identical in size, it's just that the VR6 one is a fair bit beefier than the G60 one... The only downfall I could think of was if the outer drive ring for the starter motor is different between the GTI and the G60 flywheels... :| Dunno on that one, it may be a "suck it and see" type scenario... :| Good luck! 8)

they moved about a bit during the Corrado's history.... ;) Some had 'em behind the grill, some had 'em down on thebehind the fog lamp (either side?!?) and some (apparently) had them just in front of the radiator behind the bumper... :|
  5. noooooo.... The idea is that as you put more weight into the car, the car suspension gets lower and puts MORE braking pressure to the rears... Due to there being more weight in the rear at that point, the rear wheels won't lock up as easily. 8) When there's no weight in the back of the car, the rear suspension isn't sat down very low and so the amount of braking to the rear wheels is limited by the compensator so the rears don't lock up every time you touch the brakes... :|
  6. I've always done it with about half a tank in...
  7. it was VERY close between the two... the thing is that more G60s have been written off or broken for their engines than VR6s as the VR6 still has a nice high residual value which the G60 doesn't quite command... That's why you seem to see more VR6s than G60s... :|
  8. IIRC, with the car on it's wheels normally, the spring should just be completely released of any tension... 8)
  9. The rough estimate is that 9000 Corrados were brought into this country. Then you've got to bear in mind that the G60 was only made for 3 of the 8 years Corrados were made for, so an estimate of between 2500 and 3500 probably isn't far off... IIRC, the 2.0 8V is the rarest, then the 2.0 16V, then the 1.8 16V, then the G60 and finally the VR6 is the most common... (but only just, it's supposed to be very close between G60 and VR6)
  10. why can I see some of the big tub of black paint I have in my garage being used up whenever I see any of these? :D  Cameras are all well and good, but a little paint doesn't half stop 'em working! ;)
  11. Supercharged, yeah, I thought about that, then realised I'd have problems with running without a Cat and all the emission stuff... I was happy with J-DUB as a whole, so I think I'm gonna see if I can get another J plate G60 and just swap over my bits into it and then sell on all of the unused bits of J-DUB and replaced bits of the new car... It could actually work out rather favourably for me if I do it right... ;) 8) Anyway, I'm going home early tonight and am having the car taken to my garage and locked away so no-one can nick any bits off her apart from me! ;) 8) I now have a wodge of paper about 1/2 an inch thick which is just print outs of G60 for sale adverts from around the web... ALL of 'em are for cars between 3K and 6K. I'm also going to photocopy ALL of my receipts (that could take a while, the folder is nearly 3 inches thick!) and forward that onto the insurance company... If I can get over or around £3.5K and get the costs refunded to me, then I'll take it, keep J-DUB, buy another Corrado G60 and build one to an even better spec than J-DUB was... 8) Oh, and this time, I'll make sure that the agreed value insurance actually means something...
  12. from bitter current experience, AVOID FLUX like the plague... They've just ignored my agreed value and offered me £2083 for my corrado... HIC have gone mad with their prices and were trying to charge me through the roof for my renewal after saying that they weren't going to honour an earlier quote I'd got from them... I think I need to find a new insurance company this time.... :(
  13. Cheers Storm... PM much appreciated, I'll let you know, but I doubt it for now, thanks anyway... 8) The only good thing the insurance company said was that the salveage will cost me £229.13 to buy back! They really are Arseholes... I'll be getting my car towed home tonight to stop 'em taking it away without my knowledge and then working it out with the insurance companies from there... ;) I've already started printing out for sale ads to prove that she's worth more than that as a standard car, so what I'll probably do is break J-DUB  and fit the parts to another Corrado... For what it'd cost me to sort the paintwork, I can get hold of another C to use as a base for a new project using the bits off J-DUB, so I'll just find one with good paintwork and see where it goes from there... 8) I won't take this lying down though! ;)
  14. Well, I've just told Flux exactly where they can shove their initial offer of £2083 for my car... Oh, and that's before the excess has been taken off of £250... :| Time to send 'em all the receipts and some adverts for Corrados for sale... :| To say I'm angry wouldn't even come close.... but at least they're processing it as a zero fault claim on my behalf...
  15. I'm busy on the phone to Flux... they've written her off (class C)... they reckon £4183.94 to fix her.... :| Trying to find out what they're gonna pay me for her, and how much it'll cost me to buy her back... :(
  16. depends why it's not working... mine's been "fixed" at the last 2 MOTs with the aid of a can of WD40 and a large lump hammer... ;) They normally seize up which causes them to stop working... if you can free it up again, then it'll start working properly again, if you can't then you'll need to replace it... :|

:?: :?: He's just being a bit of a prat as normal Steve  , don't worry about it... (everyone else has given up worrying about him... ;) ) The reason I correct people when they get my name wrong is 'cos there is a user on here called henRy and it's confusing when people get the names mixed up...
  18. the body shop have said that if they do the full respray I want 'em to do, I'll get it back very early Jan... 8) I've already told 'em not to quote for the damaged wheel (they're obsolete, and I've 2 spares anyway!) and I'm checking with Venom on Monday to see if I can get a spare strut, or if he'll do me a good deal on a new kit... quite fancy a change anyway! ;) The only thing that's worrying me slightly is the fact that the agreed insurance value hasn't been finalised due to not getting an engineers survey done yet... :| I'm worried that they could get all arsey and just offer me book value for her... :| :(

eh? I've not said anything 'cos coullstar, said it all perfectly... 8)
  20. JBOB, yes. That will be causing a problem.
  21. you can also take the thin wire off the starter solenoid (it's a spade connector) and connect a wire from the solenoid up towards the battery. Touch the end onto the live of the battery and see if it turns the starter motor... MAKE SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR FIRST!!! If it turns over, then you have a dead ignition switch or immobiliser, if it doesn't you have a dead starter motor... 8)
  22. In my opinion, HPI is still the best...
  23. eeep... just phoned the body shop to see what the opinion is... :| £1000 for the bodywork damage inc. all labour... Then they need to add on the parts for the suspension... :| The list so far includes: Wishbone, steering rack, ball joint, driveshaft, hub, bearings, strut (that's going to be interesting getting a single supersport coilover...), top mount, engine cradle (I guess he means sub-frames) and a few other bits.... :? Wish I hadn't phoned 'em now... :( Just waiting to hear back from the insurance company now as to what's going to happen... :| I want my Corrado back...
  24. the RAC site has one, but you now need to register to use it... it's free though, but won't give you all that many details... Do a forum search for RAC AND search and you'll find the address... 8)
  25. nope, all were the same except for the VR6 which ran a bit higher as standard... Visually, there was almost no differences between the 16V and the G60 except badges and wheels...
