  1. 2.0 8V is the lowest group insurance, but will probably be worth more so will cost as much to insure as the 1.8 16V... It all depends on the insurance company and which way the wind is blowing when you phone 'em...
  2. if you've got the late bonnet and late front bumper with the more flush fitting fogs/indicators then your wings should be late style ones, so any of the 2.0 or VR6 front wings will be fine... 8)
  3. change the rear off side brake light bulb... one of the elements in it has broken and has shorted to the other element meaning that when you brake it's allowing a current to pass through the side light circuit too... Ka' had this problem earlier this year... 8)
  4. There's a full how to guide in the how to guide section... ;) 8)

17? Sheeesh, I only managed to get mine down to 15 when I was thrashing the utter nuts off her at Bruntingthorpe proving grounds! There's something REALLY wrong there mate... All corrados should be able to get mid 20MPG figures unless they're modded to give 300BHP or something silly like that! :?
  6. No it's not... the ambient air temp sensor in the bumper is ONLY for the MFA outside temp display... mine's in my airbox so I can see what my air inlet temp is before it hits the 'charger! That's the fan run-on temp sensor... if the wire to this has broken off and is shorting against the engine then the fan run-on circuit will assume that the engine is HOT and keep the fan on for the kind of times you mention... mend the wire and see if it works as it should... 8)

    Spoiler

Strip it down and clean up the mechanism, then grease it up with some good quality white grease. see if that helps.... 8)

You're going to be adding way less than 10 litres of liquid paint to the car for a spray over job, a large chunk of which will evaporate off as it's solvent... so guess at adding in 2x 3 litre bottles of coke to the total weight of your car and you'll realise just how little difference that'll make to a road car... ;) 8)

  10. Got 3 different sprays for mine... metallic blue, metallic purple and straight DARK blue... with a light dusting of each I've got a very good version of Aqua blue on the test pieces of lexan I have kicking about... 8) Also done all of the black trims with black paint and have a working lights system rigged up and ready to fit to the shell too! :D 8) Been busy while I've been waiting for the shell! ;)
  11. it's a place called "top Marques" in stoke... I actually screwed up with my last post, he normally charges around £40, not 35, I got a discount, sorry... details can be found HERE He's good though... 8)
  12. yup, leaded petrol into a cat'd car will screw the cat and clog up the lambda... not a clever idea... :|

  15. joebloggsVR69, he's taking the psssss mate... a decent re-working on an alloy wheel should include: Tyre off Chemical bath and then sand/bead blasting back to raw alloy re-finishing/ reprofiling of the outer rim lip if there's any damage then depending on the finish you want: Powder coating followed by oven baking of the paint: Powder coating of some of the parts followed by oven baking, then polishing or just straight polishing re-fitting of tyres and re-balancing with new valves. My local place charges £35 per wheel and does a superb job... 8) Fitting a tyre to a wheel SHOULD NOT scratch the rim if care is taken and the correct tools and procedure is followed... anyone who can't do this would not get my wheels to refurbish for definate!

Make sure you don't have an LSD fitted and it's not a 4x4 first though! (not mentioning any names...) ;)
  17. hydraulic on ALL standard Corrados... 8)
  18. dealer sells the pipe for around £30... The reaon that the Rallye has a different one is that it's LHD and doesn't have a servo! you may well be able to use your original pipe and valve, I can't remember where it comes from on the valver though...
  19. I want one NOW! (although I suppose getting the car repaired first would be a good idea! ) Great idea Phat, keep the details coming! 8)
  20. yup, Kershaws know their stuff.... Alvyn helped me set up my MKI 16V a few years ago when it was pinking it's nuts off on his rollers and got a nice increase out of it! ;) 8)
  21. they look like the MKIII versions, or possibly Passat versions to me TonyRamone,
  22. I'd lock this thread, but the thought of you lot with a load of locks, chains and other such items just scares me too much to press the button... :|
