  1. Well, after just crashing my G60 with my Girlfriend in the car, I was rather shocked that one of her first reactions was to be upset about J-DUB! :) She keeps telling me that I've got to get her back on the road again 'cos she's lovely and 'cos she looked after us in the crash... 8) :D :D She doesn't want to drive her though as she doesn't like going fast and is a little wary of the sheer accelleration that J-DUB's got! ;) She's also just bought me a scale di-cast model of a Corrado and managed to get it in the correct colour with the correct badge on the grill too! 8) 8)
  2. yup, I'll confirm this too, VW bearings have been like this on all their non-driven wheels since the Beetle! :)
  3. feck, sorry, gotta lot on my mind with my car being all bent and all... :(

    Engine Clean?

Auto-glym engine cleaner, a LARGE sponge, some hot water in a bucket and plenty of elbow grease.... 8) That's how mine stays clean anyway... 8)
  5. did I just get a stonking deal on my leather interior, or have the prices gone up massively recently? I paid £500 for a mint black leather interior (door cards and all seats) out of another G60 a year ago... :|
  6. benji16v, my box had almost 250K miles on it when I had the Quaife and different ratios put into it... I'd changed the oil not long after I got it the car and it improved the change no end... Vince mentioned that there wasn't really a lot of wear on the inside of the original box and was quite suprised when I told him the milage! 8) Putting MT90 into the box shouldn't make anything worse and could make things a whole lot better... :)
  7. angle grinder it off... mine's coming off shortly while the rest of the work is being done... :|
  8. if the earth strap is missing, the engine can still turn over due to the other earth straps on the head and the like, but you may also have then burned out the main earth track on the ECU... seen this done a few times... :| Personally, I'd check for a broken wire onto the dizzy and make sure that the earths which connect onto the coolant flange bolt on the side of the head are connected properly...
  9. try: http://www.venommotorsport.com (Venom) http://www.eurocarparts.com (ECP or Euro) http://www.gsfcarparts.com (German Swedish and French or GSF for short) 8)
  10. I sold my case and the unused internals back to Vince, so he should have a stock of 'em down at Stealth still... 8)
  11. I'll just add in another "dump the original heat exchanger" vote... makes life one hell of a lot easier! :)
  12. nope, I know scruffy's car from Brunters... 8)
  13. change the gearbox oil for some Redline stuff... that'll help (if not cure) it... 8)
  14. yup, they're both forum members, although I'm utterly crap with names and totally forgot who they were... :| I was parked to the right of the golf shown next to dark Corrado... (Dubwhizz owns the Golf, SteveB owns the Polo)
  15. yeah, give her a full service and see what happens... VAG oil filter Synta Silver oil (VAG) New plugs (my old 16V used to LOVE Bosch triple point plugs) Rotor arm Dizzy cap and check the leads... they're not exactly cheap on a valver, so make sure you're certain that they may be at fault before forking out your hard earned... ;) 8) To remove the plugs on a valver, I've always used a ratchet with a sparkplug socket that I got in a cheapo set which is nice and thin.... I wouldn't like to use it for anything other than plugs 'cos it's so cheap and nasty, but it fits nicely into the holes in the rocker cover!
  16. the other earth points would be a good place to start IMHO... Also check that the dials work when connected directly to the battery in YOUR car, rather than a spare one, as it could just be a crap battery!
  17. yup, that'd also be caused by the dodgy earth strap... ;)
  18. Hello and welcome to The Forum! 8) There's a couple of other threads about very similar problems with the KR engines active at the moment, so I'd advise you to have a browse through those and see if any of them help you out... In brief, people are having problems with: The dizzy wearing which causes the difficult warm starts and holding back feeling when warm (and in severe cases can cause the engine to cut out) Injectors being either blocked or leaky Vaccuum leaks Warm up regulators going a bit doo-lally and general crap having got into the system... :| Have a flick through the other posts and see if there's anything there which rings any bells... 8) Good luck! 8)
  19. If that's how you've wired it in (which makes sense 8) )I'd bet that you're not getting a full 12V to the invertor which powers the faces and so it's not got enough juice to make 'em light up... Check the earth strap from the battery to the chassis to make sure it's not gone green and has nice clean contacts at both ends (and also where it then attaches to the gearbox while you're at it! ;) )

    Front lights...

someone's selling a set of the headlamp lenses and surrounds in the for sale section at the moment! ;) 8) As Rodders says, GPC is still your best bet for either early or late fogs and indicators... that's where mine came from anyway!
  21. dunno, I just didn't want 250ish BHP coming loose while I was ragging the f*ck out of it around a track so I threadlocked just about everything! As long as you torque 'em up properly I can't see why they would come undone though... anyone else know? :?

    Front lights...

To change the fogs and indicators from early to late spec, you need the complete fog lamps (including surround) and indicators from a late model Corrado. They are completely different from the early ones... There's a little bit of a modification needed to the bumper to make 'em fit, but by all accounts it's easy to do and pretty simple to work out what you need to do... 8) The headlamps have a different lens and surround on them, although I'm reasonably certain that the actual mirror and main housing are the same on both early and late headlamps... Someone'll probably be along shortly to either confirm or correct that.... 8) Indicators are a sealed unit and so the lenses are not available seperately... :(
  23. there's a guy around our way who has one of these and has re-sprayed it in the standard nasty brown colour that the normal sunbeams came in... talk about nasty shocks when people try to overtake him! :? I'm just glad I'd dropped it to second to get past him... I got in front, but I couldn't loose him! :|
  24. just remember, NO sharp tools when trying to remove 'em!
  25. get some body molding fixing tape from Halfords (or similar) It'll hold it on with no problems as long as you make sure that both the strip and the paint it's being stuck to are nice and clean and grease free.. 8) (well, it holds one of mine on anyway! )
