The length that you would go to sell a car!!!!!
Henny replied to Bora Bora's topic in General Car Chat
 woah, now that's how to put an advert together! 8) -
I've only posted in this thread about the paint on his handbrake lever... I couldn't care less if someone wants to badge their car as anything they want... Skoda, Storm, VR6, R32 whatever, and as it's their car, that's their choice... 8) I also do my best to never insult anyone just 'cos of the choices they make on what they do to their cars... at the end of the day everyone has different tastes, ideas and ideals and who the hell am I to judge them? As for the American thread, if you read it Dazzy, I pointed out that the part in question was NOT just a straight swap as it actually required quite a lot of pipework to make it fit, that's when the guy in question got all offensive and the thread went mad... I refrained from saying anything else 'cos to be quite frank, I haven't got time for attitudes like that, and Tom agreed in the best possible way by locking the thread... 8)

yup, threadlock city in my engine bay 'cos ALL of the fasteners on the outside of the engine are stainless steel! 8) :D Looks nice and you're soooooo much less likely to round a head trying to undo something! 8)
-
does this mean that you'll have a set of the interior going spare after you've had this lot re-furb'd then? Personally, I'd store it, put your old interior into it once you've had this one re-covered and then sell it on for someone to sort the engine and put back on the road... 8)

I'm 6foot1 and I've got LOADs of headroom in my Corrado G60.... :| There's 2 levers under the seat, one alows the seat to be moved forwards and back, the other allows the seat to be lowered or raised... 8)
-
Lotus Sunbeam? A VR6 would struggle against a well set up one of those... :|
-
I don't know the 'rocco's controls too well, but I'm sure Tempest will know... 8)
-
which version is your corrado?!?
-
yup... early VR6's had a dizzy, cap and rotor arm...
-
yeah, the metal panel version of the passat is an earlier car and has a much more curved roof... The glass one I've got is out of the next evolution of the Passat and fits pretty well... 8) it sits about 1mm too high at the very center on the leading edge and about half a mm down on the leading corners, but is as near as damn it perfect across the trailing edge... The wind noise is no different to the metal panel when the blind is shut, admittedly it's slightly noisier with the blind open, but it is actually quieter than the metal panel without it's cover when the blind is open! (don't ask, why do you think I have a moonroof fitted and 2 dead metal sunroofs in my garage!  ) *EDIT* Hey! where did that post I was replying to go?!?
-
that's easier than trying to get the glovebox out without removing the dash... trust me on that! ;) At least I'm gonna be in my nice warm garage with some good tunes on while I'm doing it! 8)
-
it goes back in a damn site easier than it comes out.... :| Gotta take mine out this evening and am REALLY not looking forwards to doing it again... :( Have the plasters handy 'cos you will at least graze yourself if not sever something....
-
Good work fella! 8) On a slight side note, any idea what make your strut brace is and does it allow you to open the expansion tank while it's fitted?
-
Go and have a word with John Mitchell over at JMRacing... you can reach him on here by sending a PM to 16VG60... He's over in Rustington which I don't think is a million miles away from you... He's got an excellent reputation on here and is a nice guy to deal with to boot... 8)
-
Was it a metal Passat roof, or a glass one? The glass one should be very slightly more curved than the Corrado one, but it's practically un-noticable when fitted... :|
-
Cheers Gman, I wasn't aware that's what the reason was, but I knew it was something to do with the properties of mineral oil rather than its viscosity... 8)
-
also make sure they're not leaking when the ignition is first switched on as a leaky injector can cause difficult starting and lumpy idle too... ;)
-
bugger, you beat me to my edit... should have said "newly rebuilt" engine... :)
-
What do I need to know about fitting my new Lamder tomorrow
Henny replied to Oakley's topic in Engine Bay
brakes are pretty much the same as every other car to change... 8) Watch out for the allen head bolts on the rear calipers though, they have a habbit of growing in and being an utter bitch to remove... :| Lambda wiring gets a bit brittle with age, so be careful with the car's wiring when changing it... -
Supercharged, FULLY synthetic should NEVER be used in a newly rebuilt engine! you should ALWAYS run in a new engine on non-synthetic oil so that the piston rings can bed in, otherwise you'll never get a decent seal on the pistons/barrels and will burn oil for the life of the engine... :| I'll be running my newly rebuilt engine on a good quality mineral oil for the first 3000 miles and then swapping to Synta Silver from then on... 8)
-
yeah, mine's not very bright either... I'll have a look at it on Wednesday night when I strip my dash apart again... (don't ask...  ) Only thing is I won't be able to post up what I find until monday 'cos I'm going away for a long weekend...
-
ah! I had the 90degree bends on the cooler end, not the sandwich end... 8)
-
That's one way of phrasing it...
-
Fitted on mine OK when I test built the engine... :| Would be a whole shed load easier with an RSR outlet though... 8)
-
yup... normally screeches nastily on slower speeds and is OK on higher speeds.... New fan required... (or get a second hand one out of a MKII golf from a scrap yard!) They're about £40 from Eurocarparts or GSF
