they also do the Supercharged badge at trimsport in a multitude of different colours... 8)

which one? Front, rear or glovebox? Rear and Glovebox ones are available from Trimsport, GPC or VAG. The one off the front grill is now obsolete from VAG and GPC (even though it's listed on their website  ) and Trimsport have never sold them... :? Only place I found to get one was second hand from on here... 8)
  5. I think that this is the same as the one I got out of a MKII Golf driver in a scrap yard a few weeks ago to fit to my MKI golf GTI to replace the horrible manual glass piece of poo which had been fitted... I'll check tonight... 8) The wiring on that sucked too! ;)
  6. shouldn't do anything to it... the battery will only TAKE the number of amps it requires... 8) The alternator will still be providing the 12 to 14V it should be, the only benefit from a larger alternator is that you can run more things off it without risking voltage drops, flattening the battery by not charging it properly or overheating the alternator... 8) 150A is a little bit of overkill though isn't it Phat? :? are you running kettles and fan heaters in there as well as your VR engine?!? ;)
  7. now that is a superb domain name... 8) 8) 8) I thought you were taking the P1$$ until I clicked on it...   Oh, and the brakes look good too... 8)
  8. I've seen recently that around Manchester (and Stoke) some theives have a Hiab 4 point lift to nick new cars with... :? There's sod all you can do against one of those things... alarms, imobilisers, steering locks etc etc etc are sod all use when they simply pick the car up and walk off with it... :? I suppose you could always chain it to a lamppost though! ;) (Hiab 4 point lifts are the flat back lorries with the crane which attaches to all 4 wheels and lifts the car straight up and onto the back of the lorry like the parking meter enforcers use to tow away cars... :? )
  9. Yup, spot on that man... good point and well made... (unlike the sunroof mech's!  )
  10. sorry Phat, OT but, It turned the oil into Coffee coloured gunk... :? I think it's been weaping since day one hence my initial coolant temp and pressure problems, and now I've sorted all the places the coolant had been loosing pressure and leaking slightly from, it's just pushed the gasket over the edge... The gasket had been kicking around for 6 months, so it's possible it got slightly damaged before I even installed it...
  11. ooh, that's a tough decision... :? I get the feeling that the final option was an "also ran" from the start though! ;) I'm still aiming to get to Stealth on Sunday, although I really doubt it would be a good idea to put it on the rollers after having just done the head gasket and probably still having a little bit of coffee in the system... :? It'd be good to see ya down there... 8)
  12. don't rule out a 2.0 conversion... ;) There were a number done by people like Oettinger from new and this could still be one of those ones... 8) At least the sticker agrees with the log book, so the odds are that it's not a ring-er and it's just a cock up somewhere or a missing receipt for the work done to the engine... 8) Either way, the 1.8 is still a fantastic engine and is vastly under-rated IMHO... 8) Check the engine number (it's on the front of the block just below the head gasket join on the flat bit) and check that it tallys up with the V5

    RS front bumper

any ideas which make it is? Most of 'em are a generic size (AFAIK) so will fit either version of the front end...
  14. Seat Leon Cupra TDI.... ;) 8) More torque than you can possibly use, great brakes and LOTS of get up and go, coupled with 40 to 60 mpg! :D what else could you possibly want?!? :D Problem is that you'd be hard pushed to get one for 10K though... :S
  15. Well, since I rebuilt mine, I've only had one person as a passenger, and that was Eug from the forum 'cos he'd never been out in a G60 before... ;) (and I managed to really impress him by curbing one of the wheels within the first 300 yards mis-judging a u turn...  :( )
  16. KR = 1.8 16V engine... (phew, I'm not going mad) It looks like you've got one of the very last of the 1.8 16valve Corrados if it's on a J plate... 8) There's nothing to worry about at this stage, you just need to look into it a little deeper... contact VAG and get them to check the reg-plate and see what their records show up (ask about service history as well as what the car should be ;) ) and you'll be able to find out what the car was when it left the factory... A quick check is to look at the heater controls inside your car... are they 3 round knobs, or are they 2 sliders? If it left the factory with the KR engine, then it should have a 2 slider style control... Of course, no one yet has mentioned that it could well be a 2.0 rebuild built around a KR engine like the Oettinger ones were... 8)
  17. nah, my KR Corrado had blue writing like that..
  18. To have somewhere to put your VW cushion? :D BEST ANSWER EVER! 8) 8) 8)  Oh, and I'm WELL with you on the smoking thing... no-one EVER smokes in my car... so much so, I removed the ashtray and lighter panel! ;) 8)
  19. bejesus, that makes my modded G60 look hard done to!?! :? Nice looking car you've got there with one hell of a spec... 8) Can't wait to see this in the flesh.... (and maybe go up against it on a strip! ;) )
  20. right, if it fired when you touched the black/red wire's terminal on the starter motor to the battery, then you know that the starter's OK so it's a fault between the starter and the switch... 8) So, here's what you do... 8) undo the screws which holds the dash cowling together (the plastic cover which goes around the steering column in the car) and remove the lower section... you can now pull the multi-plug off the back of the switch... Pull this down and out so you can get at it reasonably easily. Make sure the car is out of gear and then connect a wire between the black/red and the black connectors. This should fire the starter motor, so be ready to rip it out if it does and use a decent thick bit of wire! ;) If it does fire the starter, then the switch is faulty. If it doesn't, check for 12V on the BLACK wire. No 12V = dodgy connection onto the fuse box or possibly a dead fuse. 12V = dodgy black/red wire Hope this helps... 8)
  21. I hadn't realised just HOW similar the 1.8 and 2.0 16V engines looked... :? I'd have sworn that was a KR 1.8 16V engine... :|
  22. Nomally the brake disk in the caliper... :? Not good, I hope you went and played hell with 'em at the garage! ;)
  23. I'm with Kev on this one.... Welcome to the forum! 8) Oh, and the wiring's in better state than many of the 1.8 16Vs I've seen, as Kev says, the looming tape used by VAG was crap and just falls apart now... the stuff behind the lights is probably like that 'cos someone's changed a bulb at some point... ;) :) Pipework all looks nice and normal for a 1.8 16V too, although the injector feed pipes could do with clipping back into their holders just for neatness.... 8)
  24. Sounds like a seriously dodgy earth to me... check your earth strap from the battery to the engine/gearbox (via the chassis behind the battery) If it's gone green and nasty, time for a new one (around £25)... ;) Dunno where the other earths are on the VR6 though, but it could also be one of those... :?
  25. yup, somewhere between 15 and 18 LbFt is the norm according to Bentley... I went for a nice straight 15 and it's fine... 8)
