  1. yeah, headlamp loom, (H100VW) closely followed by 'charger rebuild for that ultimate peace of mind, (g-man) and a center brake light to stop morons driving into the back of you...(kevhaywire) ;) Lupo wipers are well up there on the list though... especially with a rear one as well! ;)

Do you need to hit it with a hammer too??? [/Haynes translation joke] ;)
  5. it's a lot easier to unbolt the whole front of the car and pull the engine straight out through where the front bumper/slam panel would normally live... Makes life a shed load easier! ;) Why would you want to do this swap?!? Anyway, the fusebox (as I've recently learnt!) is the same on all C's, so you'd need to swap the complete engine loom, ECU and instrument clocks between the 2 cars to get them to work properly... You'll also have to be careful about how late a 2.0 16V it is, as it may have the PLUS suspension and therefore have different driveshafts and possibly CV joints... :? You shouldn't actually have to cut any wires, just unplug 'em from the fusebox... 8)
  6. I looked at a few before I came back to Corrado ownership... ;) They're very heavy and not particularly nimble with it... :? I'm pretty certain the 2.0 16V is the 6A block which is basically a VW 9A block, but I think that's the only one that's the same in the later ones... IIRC they got a 1.8 16V in the earlier ones which is probably a KR derivative... They're a nicely put together, nice looking car, that just suffer a bit from being a touch on the lardy side... ;)

Yeah, it's a stud that threads into the head, not part of the head... 8) If you try and run it without that cap tightened down equally you'll screw the cam totally 'cos the cap is the top of the bearing it runs in... You'll aslo risk snapping it completely and banging valves on pistons! Not what you want to do when you've just had the head re-done... :| Depending on how much thread is left on it, you should be able to get it out by putting 2 nuts on it, tightening them together, and then trying to undo the lower one... this should twist the stud out and then you can undo it like a screw... 8) As Gav says, the studs are available from VAG and aren't expensive... :)
  8. You need to undo the tensioner and the bolts that hold the pump onto the block... There is a hidden bolt that's behind the waterpump/under the S/C that's a bit difficult to get at and is the one most people don't undo and wonder why they can't adjust the tension in the P/S belt! :? If they're the bolts that you can't get undone, undo the 3 allen bolts on the pulley of the P/S pump and it'll come off and go back on without too much hassle and without having to mess with the tensioner bolts.... 8) If the pulley just spins as you try to undo it, get another allen key with a bar on it and wedge that against the floor as you undo another bolt... that'll allow you to crack 'em all off so that you should be able to undo 'em afterwards without the bar... If you've rounded out the allen bolts hammer in a torqs or spline drive socket and that should do the trick... Which ever way you do it, if you take the pulley off, buy new bolts for when you put it back on again... ;) Hope this helps... 8)
  9. I just read this whole page... I am now enlightened... 8) :D Cheers for the link... 8) Phat, you don't know the half of it! ;) J-DUB's now been off the road for nearly 7 months and will be a totally different beast when she hits the road again... 8) Excitement doesn't even come close to the feeling I'll have.... :D
  10. I can't wait... I get my LSD'd box back within the next week... :D
  11. Whereabouts in Manchester are you? If you ever see some prat in a red (read as pink!) MKII Golf driver waving and flashing at you around the Trafford / Chorlton area, don't panic, it's me! ;) looks really rather nice... I've always been a sucker for the dark pearl colours and the green like yours was second choice after my Aqua blue... 8)
  12. they have a drum brake in the middle of the disk (or at least that's how the 911 rears worked...) 8) Don't forget that Porsches are rear wheel drive though! ;)
  13. Welcome to the forum! 8) Make a thread in the members gallery and post up some pics... sounds nice 8)
  14. It always struck me as a bit odd that VW fitted clear front indicators and orange side repeaters to the Corrado :| Looks loads better now Jedi 8)
  15. Right, I'm in... Look out for the Random Logic team... 8)

Gavin's user name is H100VW, he's got the first post on this page, if you click on the PM button on that post, you can send him a personal message and ask him any questions you have... 8)
  17. yeah, I'm with Phat on this one... Cam a tooth out... :? A chip won't improve the actual smoothness of the engine, but will improve the power delivery and torque band location in the rev range... Well worth doing... ;) 8)
  18. if you go for a hydraulic handbrake it has to run on a totally seperate hydraulic system to the main brakes. The handbrake is also seen as an emergency brake via MOT regs and as such (as I understand it) it has to be activated in a completely seperate manner to the road brakes which would mean having a seperate caliper mechanism to work with the handbrake else it'll be sharing part of the hydraulic system. :| Seat leon conversion sounds like the way to go... 8)
  19. I don't think it's possible as there is no mechanism for the handbrake at all.... :? Without a seperate handbrake mechanism your car will never pass an MOT... :|
  20. 'Rados were either G60 or 2.8VR6 in the states... They are definately LOTS rarer than over here... :|
  21. black is for the temp gauge... 8) Dunno what the yellow one does... :|
  22. I've got clear ones on mine with silvertech bulbs in 'em... look lovely... I've also had golfs with red ones and black ones in the past, and my Corrado came with blue ones when I bought it... They're easy to get hold of, and pretty cheap too... I got a red pair (with bulbs!) for a mate for £4 from Dubfreeze 8) Blue: Chrystal:
