If the car is in gear, and the brakes are on, then to turn the pulley you've got to overcome the friction of the engine AND the brakes! Welding a lever/bolt to the top of the stud isn't a bad idea, just make sure that you disconnect the battery first! 8) Good luck! 8)
  2. yeah, pressing the door pin down will lock the car while you're driving... I know, I do it whenever I drive my C in Manchester! ;) There's a thread in the Ice and secure section about the colours of the wires in the drivers door for the central locking activation from an alarm system... It gives enough details for you to be able to work out how to put a switch in to lock/unlock the doors... 8) It's something I'm thinking of doing along with removing the door pins and putting in some LEDs linked to the alarm... ;)
  3. Think i saw one of these on ebay. It looked like it was just a normal 16v metering head upper part with pipercross foam cradle on the bottom. Think the foam was all round therefore exposed to the engine side as well? Yup, they're mainly for the 2.0 16Vs though, not the KR 1.8s... They don't filter as well as a K&N panel will 'cos they're foam which will lead to increased engine wear... :?

    Embarassing air box

aide if your KR Corrado is struggling at 80, there's something very wrong with it... :| My old KR 'rado used to get upto 120 no problems, and accelerated nicely (you did have to drop to 4th though!) from 50 all the way up to 115ish... 8) If it's making a lot of noise, and there's no go to it, I'd advise you get it looked at PQD... :?
  5. Huh? I'm here... Sounds like your timing is slightly off to me... The KR will also suffer if the vacuum hoses are damaged (same as any car that uses small diameter vacuum hoses for part of the ingnition timing!) so it's still worth checking them all out... The service may well cure all your problems though.... See what it's like afterwards and let us all know... 8)

    Fecking exhaust!!!

how about getting one that fits properly?!? ;)  :-P My exhaust never scraped, banged or caught on the ground even when I had it lowered -85mm 8)
  7. You can't get an induction kit for a 1.8 16V! They're K-Jetronic and as such you have to keep the airbox as that's also the metering head! Stick with a K&N and a few well drilled holes and you'll get a slight increase in responsiveness and a slightly nicer engine note... 8) I tried to post this last night, but the server had gone down...
  8. I just thought of a cheap one (about £1.50) for G60 owners that could save their engine... Replace the standard 12 sided crank bolt for a 6 sided one off a MKI 1800 DX engine! Wish I knew about that one this time last year...
  9. As I mentioned before, John uses a boost return as standard on a G60, however, it's plumbed into the back of a second airbox so that the charger is running a dual intake system... His car does not dump to air like the G-Werks/Pitstop systems... I'm not knocking any of these systems, especially 'cos I'm still toying with the idea of fitting a G-Werks blanking plate to my own car! I'm just pointing out what John's got on his car... 8) Oh, and here's another photo from Inters 2003... you can just see the second (alloy) airbox behind the central latch on the slam panel... 8)

    My New VR6

    1) check that there's no wet patches in the boot! The pipe sometimes breaks where it goes into the boot lid between the hinges and so no water actually ever gets to the rear washer jet.... 2) take the switch outta it's surround and check that the plugs are all plugged in OK... If they are, I think that you can swap the 2 mirror plugs over (it's a while since I tried this, so I may be wrong on this) to see if it's the switch that's dead, or if it's the mirror motor/wiring... The later switches sometimes get corroded up inside due to water falling on them when it's raining and the door being opened to get into the car! 3) yup, there's a thread about these that gives all the details you'll probably need.... 8) 4) dead bulb?!? get the car upto speed on a nice straight bit of gravelled road and stomp on the brakes to see if the ABS kicks in.... 5) dead bulb... take the clocks out (only 6 screws, 2 plastic covers and one multiplug to undo!) and change the bulb... I'd advise doing all 5 while you're in there so you won't have to do it again anytime soon! ;) 6) yup, they're crap on the later models... May possibly need cleaning up, but if you go with the Passat controls mod, then that'll probably sort this one too... 8) Hope this helps... and congrats on the new VR... 8)

Fit the wheel bolts too - to hold the hubs/discs together. Or the little disc retaining screw will snap, mine did  Ah, good point... I normally do this with the car on it's wheels so I don't get that problem, but I didn't mention that key point...  8)
  12. Cool, no dis taken matey... 8) That's a good one to know about too... :) yeah, the badge is sat quite happily on my grille which is sat quite happily on my utility room floor along with quite a few other bits of the car...  It'll be there in pride of place when the car finally is back in one piece though... Thanks again for that... :) 8)

If this is the lower pulley on the crank, put the car in gear and get a mate to stand on the brake peddle as you try to remove the bolts... A good tip is to clean the heads out with a thin screwdriver first, and to soak the back of the heads with WD40 and let that soak in a little while before you try to remove the bolts... 8)
  14. nah, a gas axe will deffo shift it... ;) Try the good old BIG hammer first to remove it, and then resort to the gas-axe... 8)
  15. Oh yes, so you did... sorry... Ah well, John gets a free plug from me then ;)

    Loosing water

yeah, it's one that catches a lot of people out (myself included in the past  )... Good news is that they're reasonably cheap too... 8)

    Loosing water

dodgy expansion tank cap seal... get a new cap and see if that sorts it out... 8)
  18. Somehow I doubt it'll have any G-werks kit on it at all... ;) John runs his own tuning/servicing company JMRacing (who I used for my block work on my new 1940cc G60 engine, and all the gas flowing). His 16VG60 also runs twin inlets and has the boost return plumbed back in to one of the inlets via a very nice trick airbox... 8) It's a seriously nice piece of kit... I've got a few photos from Inters last year of it and I'll stick a couple up tonight when I get home... 8)
  19. Erm, I'm in Cheshire... It's a bit of a trek for me to get to that meeting... ;) (around 275 miles each way! ) I did it once to pick up my new block from John M, but I doubt I'll do it again for a while... Although saying that, it'd be a good way to put some bedding in milage onto her pretty quickly! ;) Your motor does sound nice.... just not quite as nice as Johns  8)
  20. Mmmmmm.... Vrrooooom Vrroooommm... 8) Nice sound that car's got... it's just as nice inside it too! ;) 8) The second 'rado didn't sound too shabby either... 8)
  21. DEFINATELY the vacuum hose between the throttle body and the ECU (or one of the other vaccuum hoses leaking)... The ECU pipe needs to be exactly 1meter (39inch) long else the car will run exactly how you describe... 8)
  22. Between £300 and £800 depending on company, self removal or all work done for you, reputation and the amount of porting done while it's off... I'd advise that you have a word with Darren (G-man) about prices... ;) 8)
  23. I just had an ace mental image of you doing the Elmer Fudd "kill da wabbit" sketch...  OK, I'll admit, I really need to stop drinking on a week night! ;)
  24. mmm, hadn't even thought about the quaife LSD that's going in mine for this list... or the Brembo conversion... Ahhh... I give up... there's too many mods that could be taken to be the best... :| Fortunately, I'm trying to do as many good ones as possible to my G60, so it's not a problem! ;) :-P
  25. hey, 'Nanaman, can you remember what time was that on Radio2? We record it at the moment (as it's one of our competitors! ) so I'll grab it, MP3 it and sling it on the web... 8) Can't believe that an s$$hole like that didn't get jailed... yeah, the guy speeding was breaking a minor law, but the caller was driving dangerously by speeding up, and possibly could get done for causing death (x4!) by dangerous driving!!! What's the betting he didn't even stop for the accident?!?
