Yup... Anything over 1548cc is in the higher tax group if it's older than a march 2001 model... :? I've about to sell my Golf Driver and get a little Diesel 1.5 Corsa :pukeleft: to save me some money 'cos the golf's on it's last legs and is costing me a bomb on fuel, tax and insurance.. Don't worry though, it'll just be a commuter car, the Corrado will be my main car as long as it's not going to Manchester in rush hour traffic every morning ;)

Well, as it happens... I just had a closer look at the VR6 dials... I don't think that the rear illumination thing will work very well, but have a look at this photo! This is using one 3mm UV LED, the same as the photos before, but on a standard VR6 rev counter... 8) UV with black dials is DEFINATELY the way to go to get this to work... 8) Total extra cost: 3x £1.50 for the LEDs, about 30p for the resistors and, if you've got early white needles, some sort of paint that glows in UV light... 8) I think that we have a go-er here... 8) I'll rig up a full set of clocks this weekend to show what it looks like with all 4 needles glowing... 8) What do the rest of you think? :?:

Ah! that'd make sense... :D Live and learn... 8) I always wondered what they were for!

yeah, I just wish I'd have got my butt into gear a bit earlier so we could have been this far along a while ago... I've been a little bit busy with my own car though, so I do have an excuse! ;)

my tax ran out in November... Glad I filled out the SORN form! ;)

Switch is on the gearbox... Look at the part where the gearchange cables attach, and you'll see an electrical multiplug there, that's the wiring for the switch... 8)

OK, well, I got the later clocks I bought from Crazymarcel this morning, and having stripped 'em apart this lunchtime, I can safely say that if we design the faces to have an illuminated circle in the middle of each gauge under the needle's centers, the needles will light up, but only on the later red needled clocks... 8) I'll compare the 2 different types of needle tonight to make sure that both types will cover the same size disk, and then post up my findings... 8) I don't think it's worth getting this buy organised yet until we're sure of the exact design we need to make them work... We're nearly there now though... 8)

a pair? that is cheap though, doesn't say the size though, 50mm for VR6's and 80/90 for G60s etc right? The pair is for a Golf VR6...

they just pull off, but they're tight to stop 'em falling off... ;) you may want to put something like a metal ruler in the gap (a nice and wide flat thing anyway) to lever them out... 8)

yeah, that sounds about right for lapping valves in and then fitting 'em... Make sure you use the corse paste and then the fine paste and clean it all off properly between uses and especially after you've lapped 'em in 'cos the paste will kill your guides in no time at all! I have no idea what the plastic tubes are for though... :? Good luck... 8)

 OK, I've had a busy morning and a nasty trip to work 'cos of the snow... Sorry Sypher50, my mistake... 8)

Welcome to the forum... 8) Which engine has your C got in it? Helps with finding problems if we know which it is! ;) *edited due to stupidity... *

Standard CC? Sounds like a nice piece of kit that though... 8)

I can get you one of them cheap if you wanna try it... or one from the new airbus HUGE thingy.... ;)

Hey! what happens if you fit a new Citroen Diesel fuel pump to it, and junk the FRP all together?!? 180PSI fuel pump's gotta be the way for ultimate power if that's how it works! ;) :|

Parts vary... I got mine for a steal, and have possibly got one lined up for a similar price which I've offered to both Jim then Andi as first refusals... If the deal pulls off, and neither of them want it, I'll put it on the Forum's for sale at a good price... 8) The actual cost of the work all varies by labour costs... If you're prepared to do the work yourself, it'll cost you the price of the roof and a couple of washers and most of a day to fit properly... 8) If you want someone else who's done it before to fit it for you, it'll be between 3 and 5 hours labour at whatever rate they charge you...

I had a switch fail on me for my passenger side window... about £20 from VAG for a brand new one... :? I tried swapping the passenger side switch for the drivers one, and it started to work again, but the driver's window stopped, so I knew it was the switch... It's worth swapping all of the switches around (keep a note as to which came from where!) to try and work out which switch works and which doesn't.... If a window doesn't work with any switch then it's a wiring fault, a faulty window winder, or a fault with the control box.... Always look for the cheap fault first before throwing good money at a problem! ;)

Migs, I thought that running anything over a 3.5 fpr with standard injectors was risking injector failure as it was... 4 to 4.5 is surely just gonna overpower/flow the standard injectors in quite a big way... You really need red tops at over 3.5 (if not before!) and you'll DEFINATELY need a different chip if you do go with a bigger FPR.... :| If I'm wrong, by all means, please show me where, as I am keen to learn about the injectors and FPRs for my own G60.... 8)

I've had the supersports for about 9 months now (admittedly 6 of 'em the car's been off the road! ) but I've been so impressed with the ride quality and handling of the kit I'm lost for words... 8) Ride is slightly firmer than standard at -30mm and quite a bit firmer at -80ish mm lowered, although I've never found it harsh, choppy or bouncy. 8) I'd say that the only negative in ride quality I noticed over stock was on cobbles where the car really did rattle... but then you'd expect that with a lowered 10 year old car on cobbles!  (I also have no idea how the original stuff handled over cobbles! ;) ) I don't tend to endorse things, but I'd happily put my backing behind this kit as I am so happy with the difference it made to my car... 8)
