Nope that's a recent thing... I noticed it last time I was in my local stealers handing over wodges of cash for engine bits and laughed to myself 'cos it looked like the Corrado owners had caught onto something before VAG had... 8) Getting another drivers side one Friday to put on so I can mod the rear wiper A-La Kevhaywire's modification.... 8)

Dunno how easy they are to do on a MKII G60 as I never had one! I'd guess that most garages should be able to do one in a few minutes as they are a disposable service part that should be changed reasonably regularly... I'd bet I could change it, but then I'm building and fitting a new engine to my C, so if a fuel filter beat me on a MKII, I'd be well stuffed with the 'rado! :? There's normally 2 filters, one at the bottom of the tank which isn't exactly a servicable item, and one just before the fuel pump which IS the servicable one... Has the MKII G60 got a plastic fuel tank? It may not have the inner tank filter if it is as VW may have assumed that 'cos it's plastic, it ain't gonna rust so they won't need it... :? Good luck anyway with it, I'm sure you'll get it sorted soon... 8)

Weird noises and lack of fuel being pumped, usually accompanied by a badly or non running engine...  I don't think that the pressure regulator could have damaged the pump, and you're unlucky if running out of fuel has damaged the pump 'cos the filter's there to stop that... HOWEVER, running it down to empty could have blocked the fuel filter with crud outta the tank causing the pump to overwork which is the noise you can hear. Get a new fuel filter and try it then... That's what my bet would be anyway, and the filter would need changing if you have knackered the pump anyway so it's not like you'd be doing something you don't need to... 8) Try that first and see what happens...

Sometimes they worked for me, other times they didn't... I've mod'd the post and stuck them on the forum rather than linked to a different host... 8)

Before my engine expired, I was getting over 330 miles outta a tank on my G60 driving 30miles each way to manchester and back every day... 8) I did a leasurely trip down to Cornwall in the summer and had to work out my MPG on paper 'cos I didn't believe the 42MPG that the MFA was telling me.... It wasn't wrong though! 8)

Is this the blue and white wire that's not connected to anything by the oil filter head? They've all (G60's) got that, best guess so far has come from someone in a post I can't find at the moment...  (I'll edit this to credit and with a link when I find it!) The guess is that there's a spade terminal on the back of the dizzy (just by the block) and it looks like this blue/white wire should be connected to it... 8) Mine's still hanging loose (so's the rest of the loom 'cos the engine's not in the car! ) until I positively know what the wire is for... 8)

Blue VR6 by the Chilli Banana in Wilmslow for the last couple of mornings (N*** VNV) Red VR6 on A536 going into Wilmslow this morning I was in a Red MKII Driver, so you wouldn't have spotted me! :( Any takers?

Looks like I know the next mod I'm doing after I get the car back in one piece.... 8) Great idea Kev, nicely executed too... 8)

Brilliant! 8)  -

The 1.8 16V (KR) engine is a little cracker... It's pretty hard to kill one (I know, I've tried!  ) and even if you do, they're not exactly thin on the ground, or complicated engines so spares are easy to get hold of and shouldn't cost you the earth either... I've had 2 cars with these engines in, one of them being my first Corrado and I'd have another one tomorrow if I didn't now have my G60... 8) 3K does sound a little over the top, I'd want a LOT less (proven!) milage than that for the money... Oh, and Welcome to the Forum! 8) -
One of the first Corrados I remember seeing was a VR6 Twin turbo... A local guy built it and, BOY, was it quick.... ....until it blew up...  That one looks lovely and looks like it's been done properly rather than just having Turbos bodged on to the back of the engine like the one I saw had! :? Nice... 8)

Have you ever had the rear axle bushes replaced? If they're worn out, the whole back end "floats" somewhat more than it's supposed to and can make cornering a bit light and unpredictable... :?

The new loom connects into the old loom, so you don't need to remove anything... All that happens is that you unplug the old headlamp connectors, plug in the new loom to the headlamps and to the original loom, then connect the 2 battery terminals (that's where you need the 10mm spanner!) The new loom simply uses the original wiring to turn on the new relays instead of the lights. The new relays then provide a new, shorter path to the battery's +ve and -ve which is less resistive than the original wiring, hence more Volts, and brighter lights! 8) It's a simple mod, it's just that Gavin's done it really nicely with his looms! :D 8)
-
Akacheesy, Have a word with Gavin (H100VW) about the looms he makes... I met him at the local Club GTI meeting earlier this month and bought one as soon as I saw the quality of it! 8) It shouldn't take very long to fit, I'm pretty sure the only tool you need is a 10mm spanner... 8)

But does it have TURBO splattered across it? :? Cheers for the tip though, I'll look into that... 8)

  8) Don't fret it, I've been called much worse!

They are only there to defrost the actual nozzle of the jets. They don't actually heat the water or anything clever like that... They should work whenever the demister is on, but the contacts have a nasty habit (yes, you guessed it! ) of corroding and making for a pants connection that stops them from getting warm... Do I sense a trend for corroding external heating parts starting here?!? :? :x

I think you've been thinking silmilar thoughts to me then Darren...  Oh, and thanks Fat Tony for the links, I'll follow them up in a mo! 8) p.s. it's HENNY, not HenRy!

Depends what you're measuring the boost of and on! I'm getting silly ideas about my MKI now that my G60's within sight of completion!
-
Where? I can't find it on any of their sites or any of the three posted above... I REALLY want one to go with my other VDO gauges, but I can't find a VDO Boost gauge with vacuum but without TURBO splattered across it... :? They're great links though... 8)

Sound like you could have a broken anti roll bar mount... When both wheels hit a bump at the same time, the bar moves with both wishbones and so no crash or nastyness in the ride... Hit one wheel on a bump and the anti-roll bar is not supported properly by the mount so it waves around and crashes and bangs into the wishbones... :? They ain't expensive or difficult to do, which is nice... Did you get a chance to jack her up and have a look? With this many suspension and steering questions, noises and oddities that you're posting about, I'd be in a hurry to find out what it is if I were you... Good luck!

ay-up! Welcome aboard! 8) :thumb right:

Ah... Good ol' Bay window vans.... 8) I used to own a 1972 Type 2, Bay window, single door, panel van with a Twin 45 delorto carb'd Porsche 2L engine running through a 1500 gearbox, smoothed everywhere and lowered OVER 125mm! I miss mine sometimes... Anything that weighs over 1.5 tons and will pull wheelies has got to be worth a laugh!

AFAIK, all Corrados had electric mirrors, and as such, they're all heated when the rear demister is switched on... If you haven't got electric mirrors, then the odds are that they're not heated, but I've never heard of a C without 'leccy mirrors... :?

Which version of the camper?!? There's loads of 'em... (1946 - 2003!) :? If it's a Bay window or a split screen (Type2), then it's dead easy to lower the back, all you do is remove the rear arms and turn up a spline or two on the mounts. (same as a beetle!) The front needs a new beam installing, or the original beam cutting and a pair of adjusters welding in... Personally I'd go for the former, buying a purpose made lowered beam is a lot safer and easier than cutting and welding an already aging beam. Adjusters are made by "sway-away", but I have no idea where to get them from anymore 'cos it's 11 years since I had my Type2! 8) Oh, and it's CRITICAL that you change the shocks for uprated ones designed for lowered applications else you'll make the van undrivable! Go out and buy a VolksWorld magazine and suddenly where to buy will become clear! 8)
