YAY! J-Dub's back running again... Talk about cutting it fine! :? I'll see everyone at 8:30 at the garage :D
-
YAY! I just finished the re-build!!! She started first time and smoked like a chimney for a couple of minutes, but is now spot on again! 8) :D :D I can feel the difference in torque even on the short test run I just had as the sun was setting.... Gas Flowed head + Stage4 G60 = FUN! 8) Now to wash her and get to Tatton in the morning! 8)

Had J-DUB a year next month... It's cost me a small fortune, but I love it to bits :D I can't wait to get it back on the road this weekend after the headwork :D :D Had my H plate 16V for just under 2 years when I wrote her off 3 years ago... :( I loved that one too and still miss it... I've had VWs since I was 16 except for one Astra 1.4 Merit :? for a year when I bought my house before J-DUB... I never did find what it's Merit was...

ONLY on the public highway. In Tescos car park (or any other private property) the rules of the road don't apply... :x Tell me about it... I reckon that I'm about £1500 down now 'cos some git in a 4x4 reversed into me and drove off... The Trafford Center were really good and showed me the CCTV footage, but you couldn't make out the number plate of the 4x4... There are some real @#$£ holes out there... :(

My head went back onto the car last night... I'm now working tomorrow and Saturday morning which leaves Saturday afternoon to get all of the rest of the bits attached... It's gonna be a close run thing if I can make it or not... :? Caios, I'll PM you Saturday to let you know how it's gone, so check the site on Saturday night...
-
OK, so we've come full circle from the question I originally asked and the answer is.... No one knows for sure what it's for, but it's not a speaker hole! :? Thanks to all that have tried anyway... 8)

It's the name of a coach-building company... Same as Ghia used to be before Ford bought them and turned it into the name for a level of trim (Hence the Karmann-Ghia VW car that was based on a beetle but looked fabulous...)
-
The head arrived today... Well, I went and picked it up from the courier company who'd completely managed to f~£$ up delivering it on the day they were supposed to... I'm gonna have a crack at skiving off work tomorrow afternoon and getting the car back in one piece... I'll have a look at the oil sender part numbers then for ya... And, yes, I am still driving the hired Punto... and paying £125 per week for the "experience" too... Please don't rub it in too much... I do still own 2 VWs, although neither of them has an engine in at the moment!
-
Same as, like to keep it that way  Bought one at York Raceway weekend before last and now my laptop is in a right old state after stripping the engine apart to do the head!  Difficult to navigate and find what you want, but a godsend when you find a pic showing the bolt you didn't know existed that's stopping the thing coming apart! :D

One each side?!?   Sorry, couldn't resist it...

GazzaG60 I'll meet you before hand as long as my C is back in one piece... I've still not got my head due to a mess up with the courier company... PM me and let me know where you're coming in from, and I'll meet you somewhere on your way in... Edit: ooh, this board self censors.... Cool... 8)

My First C was a H plate 16V in Tornado Red, so it'll be the same colour (s!) as the one you're looking at.... :? You may find that the panels ARE original, just that the car's always been parked in the sun so that some panels have faded faster than others... A good polish, wax and a bit of elbow-grease will almost certainly bring most, if not all, of the panels back to something like the correct colour... 8)

Wiper Blade Drivers side - Now Confirmed by Andi 6x2955425C ... Wiper Blade passenger side - Now Confirmed by Andi I've ordered 2 drivers arms and one of each blade... This allows you to lift the wipers with the bonnet closed and is aparently the best setup... I've not received mine yet, so I'm only going on what's been said in this thread! 8) Oh, and they should fit all RHD C's 8)

I wouldn't go that far.... The alarm system I built for my garage at home is a little bit "interesting"... If you can break into the garage and steal the car in under 30 seconds you'll have done well, or have stolen my keys... Upto 60 seconds and you'll have problems hearing for a couple of hours... Under 2 mins and you'll have hearing problems for a long while... :? Over 2 mins and you may never hear properly again!  Bearing in mind that I struggle to get into the garage, open the main door and get into/start the car in under 2 mins, and I think that it's about as safe as I can make it... 8)

Ah, fairy-nuff... 8) I've not yet dug down that far into my C to see what colour that bit is yet, although I'm sure it's not Aqua Blue from working under the car... :D
-
Ah, I see you saw through my comedy reply then...  Yeah, OK, I forgot that they'd only stock LHD stuff... Hope you get yours soon...
-
Yup, I park my car outside of work every day (when it's running at least! ) but I fitted the CCTV system here and have a 32" TV in my office that shows my car all day long! 8) The big guard dogs along with the guaranteed 3 minute armed police call out system also help keep her where I left her!  :2gunfire: The bit I work in is OK, It's in the Quays area and is actually rather nice in this good weather... apart from the work bit...
-
If they have, can you send me a set?!?
-
I'm in Congleton... Although I work in Salford and spend too much time there... Where in Cheshire are you?
-
Good Luck! Mine have been on order for 5 weeks now... :?
-
Could just be the hot weather, the poor old dears just aren't used to it...  Mine's 'cos some $#!t reversed into me and smashed my headlights... Unfortunately the shock of the impact jolted the fan which made the fan's bearings go which overheated the car and caused the head gasket to start to leak....  I reckon that one trip to the Trafford Center has cost me around £1500 now... And I never even got to the shops 'cos it happened as I was walking across the carpark...
-
Humm, the front panel shouldn't be Matt Black on a Corrado... Only on Golf MKII... :? Make sure that all of the electrics work properly, and generally use your head and don't just fall in love with it as you first see it and buy it on impulse... (That's always been my big downfall! ) Good luck... At least you are asking in the correct kind of place... HERE!
-
I'm having a slight problem starting my car at the moment... The head gasket started to blow water outta the side of the head, so I thought, "hey, if the head's gotta come off, and it could do with a rebuild anyway, why not get it polished, ported and gas flowed while I'm at it???" Like you do...  The end result is that I've learned a lot about how to strip G60 engines (stupid me, trying to do it on my own! ) and am waiting for my uprated head so that I can put the HUGE pile of bits back together in time for Tatton... I just thought I'd share the photo with you all... :D
-
GazzaG60 I reckon meeting up in the morning is probably as good an idea as any... I'm hoping to have my car back in one piece before the weekend, but things aren't going my way at the moment... My cylinder head is "out there" in the postal world somewhere at the moment! Look out for the "what happened to my engine?!?" thread that'll be appearing shortly! :) I'll get a pair of the stickers off you on the day as well... 8)

If I remember correctly... Rear standard speakers are 6"x 4" Door speakers are 5" Front Dash speakers are 3" Hope this helps... 8)
