OK, you should have 2 senders that look very similar, these are the larger ones that are your oil pressure switches. The low oil pressure (0.4bar if I remember correctly) goes on the line to the charger on the side of the head. The other one (2.1bar IIRC) goes on the oil filter head closest to the block. The third sender should be a small one that looks nothing like the other two. This is your oil temp sender and normally goes in the front hole on the filter head. I'll have a look at the part numbers on mine tomorrow, seeing as how the head off my C is on my parent's garage floor  and all of the senders are accessible so I can get the numbers off them for you... Keep watching this space.... 8)

Didn't actually cry, but a few passers by were treated to some rather choice language at high volumes as I treid to chase after the car on foot! Total cost to repair so far is around £800... :( Fortunately I used to be a mechanic so I can do nearly all the work myself... you can hardly tell now that it's got all of the new bits on, and with any luck, it should actually make the car better in that it'll have a polished/ported/gasflowed head, brand new lights, new rad fan and all coolant pipework and all new VW gaskets and coolant... :? Yup, they're 7.5 x 16 Borbet "c" alloys running Yoko A539s all round... They're part of the reason I bought the car 'cos it looks lovely on them... :D

Me? Never!

Yup.... Gold coloured Sang-yong Muso... Took out both my headlights and the grill and bent the slam panel, but managed not to damage the wings, bumper or bonnet... Unfortunately it moved the rad which damaged the fan which caused the car to overheat and took out the headgasket... To be fair to the Trafford Centre, they tried really hard to get the plate off the CCTV, but it was mucky and you couldn't make it out...  Hey-ho... :? Scott that's where I was parked...
-
Just watch out for 4x4s who reverse into you and then f$%@ off without leaving any details after causing nearly £1000 of damage...  Bitter? ? yup...

When I've had a golf GTI I've always managed to blag my way in to the trade area anyway without a pass.... That way you don't have to pay the entrance to the grounds fee as well as the show fee (which you still pay) I guess if we've got a stand then it's a bit more legit this time!

Ah, the sound of a bell ringing! My earth strap from the battery to the chassis/gearbox is green  :? I'd guess that this isn't going to help! I've got a new one and will fit it and see if this helps before I strip out the clocks... Thanks for that! :D
-
I should have my head back and fitted from 16VG60 by then, so I'm well up for it... Should be no problem and I may have something under the bonnet to make me smile as well (Cheers John!) :D The paintwork sucks at the moment (too many close parking incidents and 200K miles takes it's toll!) but I don't care, I've shown a matt black MKI Golf 16V there before, so as long as you guys don't mind, I wanna be there! 8)

11! I'm in Congleton, but I work in Salford... I'd be up for a meet at some point when I've got my C back on the road....

You called?!?

Yup, have a rag handy and change the senders a couple of hours after the engine's been run and you'll loose less than a few millilitres of oil... Unscrew the old sender and shove a rag into the hole quick, get the new one ready, pull rag out and insert new sender.... Job done... repeat 2 more times and you're laughing... 8) I had a great holiday, the car ran brilliantly all the way to Cornwall and back to Cheshire, nearly 1000 miles in 7 days... and then it blew up the next week going to work... John (16VG60) is sorting a head for me so that I can sort the head gasket that's gone skywards and stop me from having to drive this Fiat Punto (ugh! :? ) hire car I'm stuck with...
-
So basically any 1.8 VW engine then?!?
-
Yup, that's where I got the info for fitting my old dead (RIP  ) C's interior into my Golf MKI... I've taken their info and some info on how to fit MKII into MKI and made a corrado -> MKI golf instruction list... I've not completed it yet, so it probably will need some alterations, but I'll post it when I get around to doing it... 8)

Hi Guys, My C also does this, at first it was just once in a while, now I've learnt what speed is which revs in each gear!  I thought that I had an electrical noise somewhere that was causing this, and then it started doing it when I was stationary with just the ignition on... Seeing as the car is minus head at the moment, I'll strip out the clocks and check for dry joints tomorrow... I'll let you know what I find... 8)

...and has he got any more/are there any more out there?!?

Just to add to what Rado16v said... Make sure your car is on the level (not just the front jacked up) when you check/fill your box else you could put in too much or too little oil! :? I tend to use 50% semi synthetic gear oil and 50% standard gear oil. This was recommended by a mate who's a really good mechanic and it has always made the gearchange feel sooooooo much better on all of the cars I've had... 8) Just my thoughts... Oh, and Rado16v, great tip about taking out the fill bung before the drain bung... I've never had a problem with the bungs before but I'll be doing it in that order from now on! :D

sy-vw the quickest way around this is to get some waxoil and spray the threads with it once you've set it to the height you want... It'll clean off easy enough if you want to show 'em off or adjust 'em and it stops the crud building up in the threads and jamming them up... 8)

I'll be there, although my C will be in pieces in my garage, so I may well be in my hired 3 cylinder Punto... Please don't take the p!$$, it's all I could get at 20mins notice!
-
'tis the same day.... I was supposed to be working at the footy but told 'em to stick it 'cos I'll have worked 3 weekends this month already and footy bores the hell out of me!  dazzyvr6 that link was a bit too subtle and I missed it first time around, hence the question! Sorry! That's just up the road from where I live, so I'll hopefully see ya there if my C's got an intact engine again by then... :? f$£@ing head gaskets...

I'm interested... Where's the pub?
-
Been there, seen that, done that... :? (although originally I just used a bit or 13A mains cable! ) It's pretty easy to do, and saves you a fortune! 8)

GazzaG60, I couldn't agree more... They are TUV and I'm really happy with the set I've got on mine... I did the top mounts while the suspension was all off (makes sense really while you've got it stripped anyway) And yeah, it gets kinda bumpy when you drop 'em to -70mm! -30's lovely though and is better than I remember my old 16V being on standard suspension... :D
-
Tried changing the ignition switch? Seems to be quite a common failure on later VWs... Just had to do one on my G60, The dealer had 14 on the shelf.... It's about 30 mins to do, but can be a bit fiddly, if you think this may be the problem and want some pointers, leave a message after the beep... 8) Beep!
-
See? I do have some good ideas at times!  8) Hope you find some paint... Be sure to make a note of the formula if you do so that you can let other people know (or even colour code other bits of the car to match! 8) )
-
Bummer, I'm suprised at Wolfrace for that... :? Only other thing I can think of is going to a paint mixing place (place wot supplies garages with paint) with your wheel and seeing if they can paintmatch the colour... We used to do stuff like that to some of the custom beetles that I used to work on when they'd come in with a dent or scratch in their one-off colours that no-one's got the mix formula for... Good luck...
