    MFA

Critical_Mass, DEFINATELY check fuse 21 then. it's gonna either be missing or dead as a dodo...

    Wheel size

lower number sits further out. The reason that the 16" are different offset from the 15" is 'cos the widths are different too... ;) If it's a 42mm offset, you can just lob in a 5mm spacer to make 'em ET38...
  3. Call John at Brentacre... Agreed value and guaranteed buy-back... 8)
  4. Kev? I dunno about that, you've not heard my G60 running properly... chrishill, but mine has the late bonnet and lights....

    MFA

kevhaywire, not true matey, there's 2 fuses associated with the clocks. There has to be 'cos there's a permanent live (fuse 21) which keeps the clock on and keeps the MFA memory live, and an ignition one (don't know which fuse number) which allows the speedo, rev counter, fuel and temp gauges and MFA functions to work when live... If the permanent live dies, then the MFA and clock reset (and go blank) once the ignition is turned off, but it works perfectly when the ignition is on... This is how my Grey G60 was when I bought her and IIRC it turned out to be a dead bulb in the interior light that had blown the fuse...
  6. oh, yeah, forgot about that bit... stealers for all the plastic bits, seals and thermostat, GSF / ECP for the pump and coolant... 8)
  7. Blown, did you have the head skimmed last time you did the headgasket? Sounds funny to me that it should have blown the head gasket again so soon after you've already done one... :|
  8. ollster, get yourself a Passat (88-92) or MKII Golf haynes manual and follow the instructions in there... it's pretty much identical to the way you do one on the 1.8 engines (8V or 16V) as it's the same pump... 8) Get 3 new allen headed bolts as well as the rest of your list above (think they're M8x15mm from memory) to replace the ones on the waterpump pulley though as they'll almost certainly be rusty and crappy by now and be a bit of a bitch to remove!

    MFA

Classic sign of a dead fuse... Check 'em carefully and you'll find one that's blown... When the dash is clocked, the MFA tends to go nuts, not just loosing its settings with the ignition off, that's just a power supply fault. 8) Don't worry... 8)
  10. Funny, I've de-badged my G60 and everyone wonders what it is 'cos it's too quick to be a VR...
  11. Yup, with you there mate, oh and gizza ring tomorrow about couriers for engines... ;)
  12. Normally implies that the website is fully up and running... implies that not all products are on the site yet, but more are being added by the day, not that the other parts of the site are being added daily... I just wanted to make sure that if there was a problem then you guys knew about it, I'm not trying to pick faults... 8)
  13. OK, I've only just seen this thread... Right, the Bar-Tek kit is VERY good... the reason that I bought it was that I needed it ASAP after bursting the Ubend to intercooler rubber pipe and needing to use the car for work. They were the only place I could find at the time who could get me one for a good price and on a short delivery time (samco said 6 weeks, Bar-tek took 4 days!) While I was spending I decided to replace the metal pipes and other hoses with their silicone kit too as the other rubber hoses were starting to show their age and I didn't want to pop another hose straight after buying one silicone one. I did have to trim off the end of the metal pipe by the throttle as it seemed to sit a little too far back for my liking, however I never actually got around to getting my mate to flange the end of it, so it's a straight end on the pipe. It's done several thousand miles since (mostly being thrashed silly  ) and the pipe is still attached with no problems... 8) The mod just involves getting a hacksaw and lopping off about 2.5cm of the pipe! I paid them by bank transfer direct from a HSBC bank (actually one in Cornwall 'cos I was on holiday when I needed to pay for it!) and it cost an extra £9 for a 7 day transfer and you got that days exchange rate. Second hand rubber boost hoses are gonna be at least 14 years old and ain't gonna be much good. Similar applies with the plastic tubes, they do go brittle over time and if they've rubbed against the P/S pipework they can crack and leak putting you back to square one... If you're gonna change 'em, go silicone and metal... ;)
  14. I have a set of Borbet Cs that I will be selling soon. They're 4x100 7.5"x16" with a 30mm offset. I have two sets of 4 wheels, one which has just been refurbished and have not been fitted to a car since, and another set that have some minor scuff marks on the rims from parking too close to curbs  I am only selling ONE of the 2 sets and neither have tyres. I've promised Randal that I'll give him first refusal on the set I'm selling though, but keep an eye on the for sale topics over the next couple of weeks in case he doesn't want 'em... 8) Just to clarify, the only reason I was bulk buying Borbet Cs was 'cos I wasn't sure a set I'd bought would fit over the big brakes I'm fitting to my car due to the offset, so I bought another set which I knew fit just in case...
  15. mmm, Alex, he doesn't actually say that, he says that they've just launched the new website so I thought it'd be a good idea to ask why it's not all working yet... 8) Looking good so far anyway... 8)
  16. gsbellew, thanks for clearing that up about the A50/MKI Polo... I always wondered... 8)
  17. yup, with you all the way there Daz... Unusual over fuelling on a G60 is normally due to a sensor or vac pipe, be it a new one or not, that's not doing as it should...
  18. I got the bolts from a local shop called "threadfast"... can you guess what they sell?!? Have a look in the yellow pages for a "fixings" shop/manufacturer and you'll find what you're looking for... Take one of the old bolts down to the shop, give it to 'em and ask 'em for 4 of 'em in Hi-tensile stainless steel... Should only be a couple of quid or so... 8)

    Gearchange.....

the circlip is a common problem... VAG list 2 of 'em which are both slightly different, I have always just bought both (still under a quid for both!) so I know I get the correct one...
  20. ditch the 4" speakers and put the component tweeters in the dash instead. you'll get MUCH better staging and clarity than you will from the 4" sonys...
  21. umm, is it just me, or are the only buttons that work on that site are "home" and "products"... :?
  22. isn't the Audi 50 essentially just a MKI polo? (genuine question, I always thought they were, but I don't actually know... )
  23. daisy, but who actually looks at them?!?
  24. Henny
