innit nice when that happens? 8) 8) 8)
  2. Flush it through (LOTS!!!) with a hosepipe after putting a little bit of GUNK (or similar) into the expansion tank...

    help please,

I am sooooo not looking forward to doing this on my G60 over the next couple of weeks.... especially 'cos I've got to keep her drivable so I can get to work and back... :|
  4. Have a look in the knowledge base ;)
  5. yup, 184 degrees is about the closest to the original you can now get... 8)
  6. HUH? WTF is going on there?!? why is it 3 times the cost of the G60 one and double that of the 1.8 16V?!? Come to think of it, isn't the 1.8 16V one the same as the G60 one anyway?!? :|
  7. technically, you don't actually have to drop the oil, just the filter, but you may get a little coolant in the oil, so it's normally better to change the oil too... I suppose it depends on how much you value the car... :|
  8. 30 minutes work and a 20p part for fully working fans again... BARGAIN.... 8) That guide is very good... 8)
  9. *wonders if that's why F1 cars go "Mmmmeeeeeoooooowwwwwwwww" as they go past*
  10. *clicks* *adds to favourites* 8) Good link... 8)
  11. Get the cambelt and tensioner (you have to take it off anyway, so for the sake of less than £10, why risk putting an old one back on?!?) from GSF too... yup, that list all looks OK... 8) Good luck! 8)
  12. Recommended coolant for all VW cars now is G12+... makes life a little easier! 8) Oil cooler is a little fiddly to change, but not rocket science. If you can do an oil change, you can do the oil cooler too... 8) Drain oil Drain coolant Remove oil filter Undo large nut on shaft above oil filter Undo clips which hold the coolant pipes onto the cooler (replace these with jubilees 'cos they're crap) Remove coolant pipes Old oil cooler will now drop off the center shaft of the filter head. Now put it all back together again in the reverse order you took it apart... [/haynes] 8) The nut that holds the cooler on doesn't need to be mega tight... I normally use a monkeywrench and push with 2 fingers so as it's just nipped up nicely, pretty much the same as you would with an oil filter... 8) Good luck! 8)
  13. You'll only need one. It sits between the oil cooler and the oil filter housing. The oil filter has its own seal on the top of it which seals it to the oil cooler. 8)
  14. change the fuel filter... sounds like it's blocked... If it's not that, then it sounds like your fuel pump's on its way out... :|
  15. It was me that slagged off the GSF waterpump... turned out that I'd been given one that'd been returned by accident and it had a bolt missing out of it and some of the bolts were loose, hence why it leaked all over the place and overheated my engine... The replacement one has been fine since... 8) do the cam-belt while you're doing the pump, as Gav says, what's the point in doing 50% of the job twice?!? 8)
  16. just the standard ECU reset procedure should sort it all out and get the engine and ECU into sync and running nicely... 8)
  17. Supercharged, looks like a typo to me... 1.8 16V?

    Connollising

CoxyLaad, it'd go nicely with his nice gay paintwork too...  ;)
  19. pretty much the same, yes... 8)
  20. yup, and if that doesn't work, find a BIGGER HAMMER... 8)
  21. woo-hoo! I got some fuel again! Filled her up last night and could drive to work again this morning... 8) To be honest, getting the train to work hasn't been too bad over the last couple of days, it's quick, easy and works out fairly close price wise... the bit that's annoyed me is having to either get to work an hour early or 30 minutes late... To those in the government: Get trains running more frequently and more people will use them! It ain't rocket science to be honest is it?!?
  22. vr6storm, erm, I'm engaged to her now... (and she's a deputy head teacher... )
