my 95 2.0 16v has the 16 pin plug, can this only be used for abs fault finding? does its ecu store faults at all and if it does and vag com cant read them is it like one of the hand held ones that can or if the ecu cant store faults at all is it just manual testing of parts thanks, its a bit confusing reading the previous posts to tell if the ecu on a 16valve even stores any kind of faults..

my 95 2.0 16v is far from running right, bad mpg etc,i could do with goin through the injection system and testing what i can to see if any bits are working right,i once tested parts on my old golf with a multimeter etc,is there any info anywhere on how to test the system or a good manual then i can do some tests to see if i have any faulty parts or can it be pluged in to a diagnostic system as i dont think my old golf could? i did a search but didnt realy find any kind of guide on how to test everthing.

i personaly would set at tdc then mark the belt and pullys with white paint so theres a mark on each pully and over to the belt,i then mark the same paint blobs on the same teeth on the new belt,so then u make sure uv been given the right belt and it cant be wrong if every tooth on the new belt goes in the same place as the old one, thats what i do i find it easyer :D and ul need the tensioner tool or u can stick two short 3mm allen keys in the holes then put sumthing across them to tension it up.

lol think its my crap camera phone or they are lobster hands :) if the lambda or cat wasnt working right would the plugs be mutch darker then?
-
bit of a bad picture but does that look ok,there the old ngk ones i replaced with the bosch 4 ones.
-
the plugs looked pretty good but i have no idea how long they have been in and the new ones only a few days but if you wanna expand on ya thoughts on what would cause these problems shud it be running lean,i did do a search but theres so mutch information id be sorting through it for the next few weeks :) and non realy releating to a problem described like this..any ides at all would be great or things i could check.

my 95 2.0 16v isnt quite runing right its had new plugs dizzy cap and fuel filter,it has a slight miss at idle every so often u can fell the revs dip very slightly, and when driving at say 3000 rpm it fells to be holding back like u need to floor it to get it to clear, when acellerating hard it seems ok but when it isnt it seems like its holding back any ideas what might cause this sort of bother hot or cold it does it,leaky exhaust at cat or down pipe or faulty lambda? my last rado wouldnt idle but ran fine where as this one idles ok but doesnt like been held at constant lower revs andy parts that normaly go to cause this sort of thing so i dont have to go buy loads a bits in the hope of sorting it,plugs look good in colour so i dont think its running rich or anything any ides would be great.thanks

thanks for that offer but i cant go to the rr day,but u mite be able to help me with some other alarm problems,i removed the intellistart thing il never use it anyway. but when i get out of the car and turn the ignition off after so many seconds the alarm arms its self without me arming it with the lock button.can this be turned off because when i want to work on the car i have to leave the keys in with the ignition turned on. if i put it in valet mode when i turn the key off it goes back to normal and arms itself again.. and the proximity bleeping thing can u turn this off every time sumone walks past my car it chirps so i cud do with getting rid of that if poss? thanks again i do have a manual i got from the clifford site i just wonderd if these were things that can be turned off i just want the alarm to arm when i lock it with the fob, this alarms well crazy id rather keep it for the full closure and the imobilliser or id have already taken the alarm off..i think its a g4 c500. i can enter the valet mode using the pin code thing then if i want to cange an option sutch as auto arming on or off i press the blank one first say 3 times i get 3 chirps then the * one once and get a chirp then what do i do,i think i get three chirps then if ya just turn the ignition off shud that have changed to been on or off by its self so do it once and it mite be on and then twice and it will be off or am i missing doin somthing after pressing the * to select on or off..thanks and will one of them g5 disks and cables to connect it to this pc work on a g4 alarm aswel i cant find a manual on the clifford site for a g4 c500 only for a 400 or 600 so im goin off the 400 user guide but the recipt i have for the alarm says 500

melt the plastic back in place with a soldering iron, rough the back up with 80 grit and then blather it in premix fibreglass then fill and highbuild prime the front. "How much would these guns be? (cant find price on net) " think myn was 80-100 quid like 3 years ago and it was doin nearly a car a week and its still goin strong, there a devilbiss replica and with a fast flash thinner made by manor think its shipley paint i never realy flat owt or use a buffer. but i did before using a realy good thinner, guess it all depends what works for ya. every painter will have there own ways and what paint and guns they prefere to get the best finish from the gun to save the work on the flatting and buffing.

"Firstly though I bought a 3hp 150 litre compressor that can do nearly 15cfm at 120psi," that will be spot on thats what i have it might need a 30 amp fused supply. "I should be using an air fed respirator when spraying this paint but seeing as it%u2019s a one off and a proper respirator costs quite a bit I%u2019m only going to use a good mask. The chemicals are really bad for you and if you work with them everyday you have to be really careful" thats why i quit painting it is well harsh especialy if u have a few beers aswell after, buy a decent mask with atleast carbon filters. "I%u2019ve been told that the quality of the spray gun can make a huge difference. You can pay from as little as £10 for a spray gun but I reckon the finish would probably reflect that. I want to get a Devilbiss GTi as I%u2019ve seen the finish that other amateurs have got with this gun. If someone in the know could recommend a less expensive but good quality spray gun I%u2019d probably go for that. I%u2019m going to look into selling Devilbiss or Sata spray guns soon" i use airgunsa no complaints they come with thatcham transfer efficency certificates.. sort of a devilbiss replica but cheaper myn are all gravity fed guns so i cant coment on the bottom fed ones.

thanks i had a bit of practice on all my mk1 golfs. i think with practice anyone can do it the main thing is having somewhere to do it and affording all the equipment.

is it just small ares u want to do then? obviously the gun size, a toutch up gun with a smaller nozle is good for toutch ups etc but for a full motor ud be wanting a bigger nozle or bigger gun,2k is generaly thicker than celly so the gun nozzles are bigger.. im not sure about what vw used? i mean to gain experiance u could have a crack with the celly so thats like using the gun instead of the areasol tins from ya motor store, depends how far your looking to go with it..your local autofactors may beable to put you the 2k into areasol tins. the one i use can 2k primer with 2k paints but like upol do aerosl primers that will easly do your task.. if your only looking at toutching up maybee areasols made up with 2k etc mite ba a better option for u? the buffers and sponges etc arnt cheap so u can get a hand grade rubbing compound. id say if you ring a few autofactors that do paint mention 2k and if they can make areasols ul find most paint mixers at them places will have been painters ul get mutch better results with made up areasol with 2k than ya local halfords paints please excuse the bad spelling. http://www.autopaintinternational.com just dont take to ya car straght away with the areasols or owt practice a bit before and keep everthing realy clean good luck autopaint have stores alover if that helps

cheers for the link sorting.. im saying ul see the blend mate with the 2k u wont with the flat colours just the mets so i take it ya cars met.. so you could try this way prime ya area apply ya base coat ya met colour. when thats on you cant flat it etc or anything u need to laqure it then after its dryed off were talkin maybe 15 mins not days to give you an idea depending obviously on temperature and ya amount of base coat.normaly a super fast flash thinner ot something specificaly for base coats. so when u put a base on keep it as small as poss to cover up ya marks then blow ya laqure over.. then when its dryed u need to try blend it but remeber your vw paint will be thin so if you take to it with 1200 grit u mite go thru the paint same goes on ya new laqure go thru to the base coat and its ruind.. so i recon sumthing like farcela hand grade like t cut but for comercial refinishing.. mets are harder mate then its all practice but if ya start using comercial paints and polishing gear obviously ur gonna get better results than with a crap can of halfords paint that will probo fade and drop off :) like i said if there other painters on here there may well be a way to get good results laqure blending with 2k but iv never had real sucsess but im also been very picky when i say ul faintly see the blend.. sumtimes ur local autofactors who supply paint will be able to give you advice obviously i could go on for ages if theres anything else i can help you with il try my best i personaly would only paint my own cars etc in 2k..but if ur gonna try invest in a resonable gas mask with atleast carbon filters.. ul find guns etc on ebay 2k sets like rubber coating and so it takes to buffing alot better than celly so you can work with it more to flat and polish to get a perfect finish.

im not sure why the link wont work but im sure youl pick it up if you have a go,just keep everything realy clean.

i mite beable to help ya i used to be a painter :) if ya just wanting to paint say bumpers etc in flat colours, then thats not gonna be too hard with a bit of practice.. 2 pack is whats mainly used now its alot better than celly but more expensive and dangerous if you breath it in.. u need good extraction if you start spraying in ya garage it wont belong before your eyes are burning and you cant see what your doin.. little compressors are too small for painting whole cars and so is a standard garage. but for small jobs sutch as toutching up a smaller gravity fed toutch up gun with say a 1mm nozle would do. you wont beable to blend 2k laqure in to existing paint very well so your looking at full panels on mets. so if you stick to flats and using a small gun for toutch up or you can paint a wing etc then after practice ul improve. filler primers etc can be used and flatted back with 1200 wet and dry etc like someone else said, then a top coat but if you apply loads ul end up with a worse finish so the better the gun finish with a nice amount of paint and then if you need to it can be flatted down to remove peel 1200n - 2000 grit and the machine polished this is with a buffer for that pupose with special mops and paste not a grinder . sum of this may help altho this is my methods and im not stateing there the right ones..i did paint my last corrado and soon the front of my new one unfortunately i dont have any pics of me painting my car but i do of my bike ive just done not corrado related but may be of a little use to you. and im sure it was this forum i had posts on before when i had my last rado :?http://www.daytona600.org/viewtopic.php?t=4604

my new rado has a clifford concept 500 with an intellistart thing on,if i dont leave it set to start before i get out it shouldnt beable to start its self for any reason is that right? cos i just get out of the car normaly and i leave it in gear and when i got up this morning the car had gone like 5 car lengths down the road :? i did wake up one morning and it was running so i had the car reset so it isnt set for battery top up or cold weather starting, but it must have turned its self over with the handbrake on to get down the road...so its a wee bit dangerous. so i wont use this thing anyway so if i unplug this telestart is there anyway the alarm can start the car? and has this forum moved as i have no posts now but i did when i had my last rado cheeers :)
