Bumping a very old thread here. I have the same as Jim. Flashing dash when I'd say the temp and the level is ok. The two pin, on the tank then, should be a circuit with the coolant in it? Can I test that with a multimeter. And then the plug for continuity.

please come and do mine! awesome work there
-
Not sure. The fan works fine and the temp doesn't get too high, it's always been quite Smokey/steamy for a while. The head gasket is fairly new, it's not done many miles.

Not so positive. Losing coolant. I had seen a leak in the tank so I've bought, a very cheap ecp tank and there's no leak from there anymore. I got a blue cap and it's such a bad fit on tank, it's so tight, but no leaks. Problem is its still losing coolant. I've read that it's possibly leaking through the gasket info the cylinder as I have smoke/steam coming from the exhaust. Do you guys think the same?

Righto some updates.. I've fixed the oil pressure, there isn't anything wrong just had a short on the wire to the sensor. But I had to fit a gauge to realise it was just a wire :bonk: So the buzzer doesnt sound now Clocks are all sorted now, got myself some proper early valver ones! thanks clumpy do have a coolant leak which I was really worried about but have discovered its come from the reservoir, still annoying as its new. ( can I take it back to VW? I got it from TPS) It needs tune up really, we got a local place that'll test it all out, so I'll take it there in the new year. Then I need an auto electrician as my electrics in the car are shocking  But I'm less worried than before, as I thought bad things like new engines and that I still got that knocking but I'm sure it's just a bearing Happier

Love the colour, almost Aqua Blue ish, I have coilovers for it so might look a tad lower soon. might need a 10mm spacer to then. I won't touch it then till it's run in. Its such an improvement on the standard model. almost looks widebodied in the flesh

Evening My abs light doesnt work, I tested the abs with another light from another car and it lit up and went out as it should. Looks like the bulb is gone and a resistor. The whole thing itself are going for £30 on ebay and im not paying that. Anyone bothered to fix one before? or want to sell one a bit cheaper? Thanks

The wires were damaged near the switches. ive got a 2 pole sender and I havent fitted the low pressure switch, I put sender in its place as I snapped a bit in the spare space :( the white switch has blue wire and the yellow is on the 2nd pole on the sender. (i may have said the colours the wrong way round but they are on the right switch )

Thinking about another gauge, as I might fit the gauge pod under the stereo. Is the voltage one straight forward to wire up? Is a voltage one of more use than any other gauge?
-
I dont have a buzz anymore! Oil temp and coolant temp all seem fine, oil pressure is spot on. Gotta find a spot to put the gauge now.

All sorted touching wood..

Hi I have wired up a vdo oil pressure gauge. At the moment its all running directly off the battery. How do I wire it to the ignition, it's got illumination also, I do have a wiring diagram but I not sure how to use the ignition rather than a permanent live? Thanks:scratch:
-
thanks again, I'm not sure why my heads not on this pretty basic task, I'm sure I'll locate the dodgy wire today. I'm happy with the oil pressure though.
