Managed to get mine out by pulling it not so long ago (sorry for the innuendo)....was a real git but still no more than a 5 - 10min job, was more difficult getting it back in. If its the battery that's in the way just take it out.

Bump starting working over normal would indicate an electrical problem to me, alternator and battery would be my first port of call... In what way does it cut out? does it splutter then die or just go completely?

There are numerous pages in this section with info on what a huge range of products.........a bit of reading is in order. i have heard that the 3 step is good, the best way that i've found even after doing a shed load of reading about the different products is to try various products and see which gives you the result your after, it all depends on how picky you are. Where abouts in suffolk are you??

A bit of sandblasting! She's running again! All that needs to be done now is the fluids! Oh and the front panels.... Again a huge thank you to Supercharged for his continuing help.

Yeah, they're £20 or so from VW or GPC do them as well..... Don't think you can cut them open.

ok....when we looked at the PG engine torque setting for that it said it should be 25nm so i think i'll probably go with that.......

humm, there are 2 types of stud that are used....1 is just a threaded rod with a gap in the middle, the other one that is used on my car is different widths at either end.....so would there be a different torque depending on the stud type? i would have though that the earlier type could have taken more as its thicker....
