Ah new bulbs hey.......probably best to remove the units completely, really is the best and least time consuming way. Work out how much of an adjustment is needed and guesstimate it on your workbench. If you do do this then make sure you replace the screws (2 on top, one down whole in the middle) with some stainless, will save you literally hours of grief further down the line!

2 'gears' on the back of each, turn to adjust! not the easiest things to get too mind...

 Nah i think a MufTie is something completely different!

Had a sort of chuftie whilst getting petrol the other day.....The guy at the counter said nice car, like the colour....i bet it's nippy etc. As i'd just put almost 50 litres in he then went on to say, whilst looking at the 16v badge on the front, "thats got a very big tank for a 1.6"!!!!
-
Yeah i was thinking that, run the car with the cap off and see if you get any bubbles come up...
-
Super stuff Mr Wort! I have a feeling I'm going to have to do this in the not so distant future..... Is there any chance that this could go into the Wiki???
-
Humm, yeah i see what you mean...might well take you up on that.

Depends on the engine, the gauge sender for the 16 valvers is basically under the distributor. If you've got small hands or your just lucky its ok, but i found it a real git to change...

Had the camera out again the other day........

Blue caps can be bought from here http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_cooling.php

I would say that one of the cylinders isn't firing.....

Says 2l 16v in the description. Like davidwort says check for vacuum leak, idle valves are readily available on e-bay. As for cleaning it use carb cleaner, squirt in a load give it a shake and drain out...I certainly wouldn't use brake fluid, are you sure the person didn't say brake cleaner??
-
http://www.vwspares.co.uk do the guage sender one for a couple of quid....but like i said this as far as i know only sends the signal to the gauge and has no affect on the fan or ecu
-
were they driving out with the handbrake on????
-
there's an oil sender on the left front corner of the block but i dont think that'll have any influence on the fan as that'll be controlled by the switch thats in the rad.......what temperatures it the car reading? AFAIK stage one fan will come in around 95* and then stage 2 at around 110* - 115*

This page will be your friend http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30785

If the temps going to 110 i'd put a safe bet on your water pump being shagged, from what your saying. Only £20 or so for a new one so get it changed, while your there do the thermostat as well...
-
the one under the diz only operates the guage (if it's the same as the 2l, which i think it is) there is another that does sends temp to the ECU but i dont think that that would have any affect on the fan coming on. Just to rule it out change the switch in the rad again, if not i think you've got to start checking the wiring or the fan itself.

ah good, so i'm not talking complete balls!
-
aren't the GTI ones aero fit and the non GTI not aero fit i.e the same style as the standard corrado ones? i think we may have crossed purposes here....
-
mm yes the problem is that i'm superskint!
