  1. My brother in law has the limited edition sport or whatever it's called, with the black roof and mirrors etc, really quick car, lovely to drive. just a pain to get in and out of!! Think for 10k you are in 180/225 territory but you should be able to pick up a nice clean one :)
  2. For his 'pride and joy' he should know its a mk1!!
  3. Cheers neil arrived this morning, smells like bubblegum!!
  4. Volksdevil/riley, do rim wax which polishes and protects, just bought some myself 8)
  5. Keep trying with wd40 etc, if that doesn't work you could just smash the plastic off with a hammer and chisel!! not the best idea but might be a last resort and it will allow you to get at the bolts with a pair of grips of something?! Are you replacing it with a deletion kit?
  6. Theres a guide on how to remove the CC somewhere on here try the search. Funnel should just knock out, mine came out quite easily.
  7. Welcome, switch should be an easy and cheap replacement just needs popped out.Rear wiper blade you can get anywhere and will make a good difference, but dewipering is an option and isn't hard to do. but if you want the standard look stick with it!!
  8. very nice, had a quick flick when it came through the door yesterday, looking forward to reading the article!! Well done :thumbleft:
  9. Comes up on the testers screen if the car is fitted with ABS or not, just so he knows what to look for!! so chances are he will look for the light to come on at start up. Thought that when one sensor was out the ABS doesn't work at all?!
  10. Riley- those ones don't flash too fast?
  11. it's nestled safely in the car park behind the library!! saw you at halfords a couple of sundays ago looked really clean.
  12. car looks great mate seen it about a few times, shame if you have to let it go!!
  13. Put me down for one too darren will call 2moro!! Cheers andy
  14. Damn thats alot of money!! lovely transporter though!!
  15. with a read out like 1400, its a major boost leak or something is up with the charger, have you checked all the intercooler pipe work and possibly the charger belt/s?
  16. You should notice if it wasn't making any boost, would be really slow and unresponsive!! you can do the follow test to check mainfold/boost pressure "" 1. Start engine 2. Move the MFA selector to "2" 3. Press and hold the MFA end button (keep holding) 4. Stop engine 5. Start engine 6. Release the MFA end button. 7. Press the MFA End button one time. You should now see 550-750 readings fluctuating with idle. Anything higher than 750 is probably not right (a vacuum leak possibly?). Much less than 550 is probably too much timing advance. Run the car to the redline in 3rd and 4th gears noting the highest readings you get. Running a standard 78mm pulley you should see 11psi if the charger is in good nick but a charger with a smaller pulley should make more than 11.6 EURO Hg(#'s of boost/vacuum) 200 - 23.7 400 - 17.8 600 - 11.9 800 - 5.9 1000 0 (Atmospheric pressure, charger is bypassed?) 1200 2.9 psi (You have a major boost leak) 1400 5.8 psi (Your charger is in very poor condition) 1600 8.7 psi (Your charger would benefit from new apex strips) 1800 11.6 psi (Good for stock pulley, needs new apex strips if 68mm pulley) 2000 14.5 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on stock charger) 2200 17.4 psi (Good for 68mm pulley on heavily ported charger) Any more than this and you must ensure that the fuelling is seriously up to scratch At this point you are into the realms of different injectors, aftermarket engine management and so forth....""
  17. Drunkenmunkey- Saw your car on sunday pulling in to halfords(stirling) was gunna come over for a chat but you must have left. Was my blue G outside!! Anyways looks a beauty good luck with it!!
  18. http://www.g-werks.com has a full price list, looks to be £515 inc vat and postage(for rebuild plus port and polish)
  19. Erm, that'll be where the air "whoosh" is coming from then... when on part throttle the boost will be coming out of the bottom of the throttle body until you actually press the throttle all the way open... :| Was only getting the leak on full throttle, and it ended up being an ill fitting connector. All sorted now though!!
  20. Same 8) Will always own a v.a.g motor of some sort. Neil. Shame you've had so many problems with your G60 neil was looking forward to seeing it at volksdevil gathering!! Good luck with the replacement
  21. Was also brought up with vw magazines in the house and my mum has owned 4 or 5 campers, so was really a natural progression to me. Have had vw's since i was 17 and have had a mixture of new and old, to be honest i'm pretty obsessed with them and don't think i'd buy outwith the v.a.g family. Have a lot of friends with a whole mixture of cars but none of them have that 'wow' factor for me. Just my 2p worth anyways!!
  22. Theres a 19yo guy near me with one of these, must be a hell of a bill his parents are paying for him to run it!!
  23. LOL i get this too!! My dad moans about how uncomfortable my C is but when i take my gran to the shop etc, she always gets out and tells me how comfortable the C is!!
  24. Went over every connection last night, think i got it sorted but couldn't really give a good test on the way to work. _leon_ that was one of my thoughts about the arch lining Gunna do a leak test when i get a chance. Thanks the for advise guys :thumbleft:
  25. Boost return has been taken off, think i've got it narrowed to an ill fitting pipe causing the leak. Will need to road test tho as the 4 miles to work isn't enough!!
