£1635 (inc. VAT). That also included a new gearbox mount. Big wodge of cash in one go but then when I drive it, it was worth every penny. Gear change is smooth as silk with new clutch and the engine sounds new. Pull incredibly smoothly thanks to the skimmed head and sounds fantastic. It hardly sounded diabolical before, but there were the beginnings of chain noises (urgh) and irritating tappety noise at mid range revs. Now it's quiet as a whisper and the only noise is that fantastic VR roar at 4000 rpm. HUGELY smileworthy! Mind you, now it's magnified the fact that my exhaust doesn't sound as fresh as it could. When I can afford it, that'll have to be replaced by a nice aftermarket job...but then I also want some coilies! That's the problem with sorting out one part of a 100,000 miler. That then feels tight and new and runs beautifully, so you want to think about doing one of the other areas to match! That said, she's still a beauty and runs so well.

Cheers for the comments chaps, much appreciated. Rob, have been inspired to keep working at my paint by your work. In the metal yours would still make mine look tatty! In the action shot I'm using Halfrauds smaller polisher. Cheap as chips at sixteen quid but good for getting into the awkward angles where the larger units wouldn't. Still need to get a proper variable speed job for when the last bits of paint have been tidied.

Great result Jim. Nothing like a bargain in the Corrado world! Quite literally usually!
-
Looking lovely mate. As so many have said, a lovely colour.
-
Hello mate, Welcome to the forum. You'll find a wealth of information on insurance in the insurance forum... ...here. That and using the search function is always a good idea, since a lot of stuff has usually been covered already. This is particularly true if you land yourself a Corrado. Here's hoping you do mate! Ed.

Great news that this is on the road Dave!

Cheers mic_VR, I'm particularly loving the artful shot of the lower half of the missus in the bonnet shot. Fortunately she's not taking that as a statement on my priorities!

Thought it was about time that I put up some pictures of my baby (ex Mtc-R32). Still need to think about getting the front bumper touched up (or resprayed) as it's badly stone-chipped. That's on the to do list. But I've spent my fair old whack of time cleaning her and today gave her the Meguiars three stage and the results were excellent. It's also just had the head rebuilt at Stealth and the chains and clutch done, so is running like a dream. Loving every second of it. Currently wearing Solitudes which I got from eBay for fifty quid (they were pretty ratty) and refurbed myself. And yes, I know I need a haircut. It's on the to do list.

Jules, stick with it. You know it'll be worth it in the end to drive a car with soul. Glad I cheered you up...like I say, looks lovely.
-
Jules, it might be scant consolation right now, but for what it's worth, the 'rado looks mint. Perfect looking drop, gorgeous alloys and can't go wrong with black! I know photos never show up the imperfections (or dents!) but from here it doesn't look like it needs a respray! If it does, God knows what that means for mine.

Has it got leather?

Now that's fantastic news Dave. Time for me to take a trip on over to your side of town at some point this Easter break methinks! Don't worry, I'll bring the lawnmower.
-
I've always found that a good coating of WD-40 on the runners of the sunroof is the way to go to keep it running smoothly and thus prevent the motor straining to overcome the resistance which leads to the motor burning out. As for the spoiler, I can't say I've ever done much to that. Now I've said this, both will clearly burn out within the next week, according to Sod's law. I know the feeling about having to park it though Badger. I regularly get jipped good-naturedly by the missus for taking her out somewhere, parking up the 'rado, walking away with her and turning round to admire the car as we go off wherever we're going.
-
jonnyboyo, sounds great; until you realise that she wouldn't look twice at either of us, because we're driving around something which is older than the milk in her fridge, and thus of no consequence!

Going to mow the lawn Dave?

Think I'll have to head down to this next Bath meet, if the mintiest Corrado in Worcester's going to have its debut! Haven't seen it since it was stock. Well, stock plus Megasquirt.
-
I always thought if one was being dead proper, it was milk in first so as to line the vulnerable, thin china of the cup and to stop hot tea cracking it? But then, I wouldn't really know. My butler does it for me.

The leather was sold a while ago mate.

Coming out of Worcester's Halfrauds today, found a chap looking in at my driver's window and doing the rounds of the VR appreciatively. He asked me with a smile if it was mine and then commented with the fact that both his and mine could do with a bit of T.L.C. His turned out to be a nice looking blue Golf VR, with the odd bit requiring tidying, much like mine. He uttered the immortal "I always wanted a Corrado" then we had a chat about the Storms (since mine is Classic Green and now wearing Solitudes) and about servicing and the big jobs. Mentioned that mine's about to have it's head overhauled and namedropped both Vince and this forum as invaluable sources of help. He shook my hand and went back to his car to note the names of Stealth Racing and THE Corrado Forum. Nice feller, hope he does come on here.

Get in! David, you've made my evening after a very long day of chasing recalcitrant Year 11s for coursework, then having to mark it... 'Twas indeed me, picking up a mate to go watch the footie (and running late). My first spot by someone on the forum! Must meet for a close-up appraisal of each other's VRs sometime. Cheers, Ed.

My god, that makes me feel old! How the vehicles on the road have changed! That's some charger coming through the bonnet of the Capri.

VERY VERY NSFW - Shocking Images of VW Fox Accident
Mr Sands replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
Pretty grim stuff. However slowly or carefully we all drive, that will happen to some unlucky souls. Harsh but true. -
Looking good David. So pleased you got it sorted! Still keeping a watchful eye out for you round about town, but no joy yet.
-
First mistake! And welcome dude!

Utterly barking but great fun. Is it me or is he afraid to put the boot in and keep it there? Guess he'd be running on metal within a hundred yards if he did! Love the difference in thickness between rear and fronts.
