Right here mate!
-
Righto, that's the obvious promptly ruled out!
-
Asking the bleeding obvious: have the chains and tensioner been done?
-
Yes, second that. Considered getting a set of them but with the rate that I put brake dust onto my alloys, the thought of keeping the BBS ones clean gave me the screaming airy ab-dabs.
-
Looks a clean example. Nice find!
-
I do like the Speedies but I am loving the VR on Solitudes. They're lighter than the Speedies and I'm sure it handles a little better on them. I really like the look of them.
-
Dave mate, it was how clean yours looked at the last meet that made me realise that I needed to renew my efforts with mine. Still needs bits of bodywork sorting so that it looks good alongside yours at the next meet! The girlfriend actually really enjoyed the process. We've since repeated the treatment on her fix or repair daily and I think she's been well and truly bitten by the bug.

Nice looking car, and you got it for an absolute steal if I remember the price correctly!
-
Gosh. There really wasn't very much left of that, was there?
-
Chaps, this is in danger of becoming a shine-off! Gentlemen, start your claying!
-
Looks smart! As Goldie says, we need more pics!
-
You and me both mic_VR, it's one of the next things I've just got to do. Got to keep mine as clean as yours too!
-
jonnyboyo, come on. Surely as a policeman you know it's illegal to beat the kids? Even if they've interrupted your Corrado plans!
-
That is looking absolutely superb. Gorgeous looking thing.

Another appeal for help from peeps with Mk IV Golf knowledge
Mr Sands replied to Mr Sands's topic in General Car Chat
Holy thread resurrection Batman! My mate did indeed get this done and fairly simply. It went to my ever reliable mechanic at a small village place who'd done it many times before. He managed it in about ten minutes apparently. -
Not sure about that. I'd entirely agree with the fact that simply being stolen would imply Cat D. For Cat C, doesn't it have to have passed an inspection before being allowed back on the road?
-
Now THAT sounds like a plan Rob! Love it. I'm thinking very much about a similar sort of plan. Well, to run a Golf as a daily driver and keep the 'rado for weekend fun and for a once or twice a week blast to work. Except that I'd want a Mk II and I already have a job and it's never going to pay the big money! What degree are you doing mate? Something I.C.T. related? Ed.

Sad news.

Loving the moonroof. That's a mod I need to think about in time.
-
fazgti, afraid that's got me scratching my head. Best I can do is bump this again so hopefully someone of more use will come along. G60-NeedMoorePoower, I'd heartily recommend getting at least one of Dave's kits in if you are on the original handles. My driver's one went and Dave's kit sorted it. At some point I'll have to get one in for the passenger side, since that will eventually go too.

I'll have you know he was a catalogue model got in for the occasion. Trouble was, it was the Clarks shoes catalogue. 'Twas the girlfriend's suggestion (out of boredom quite possibly!). I went along with it in the interests of demonstrating shine. Jason Plato! Not had that one before. I'm sure the kids I teach call me plenty of less complimentary things, so I'll take that one Chris!

But the hair will have grown again by then! Oh, the car... You'd be more than welcome mate. Give me a shout.

Certainly have racked up the miles Marcus! That's the factor of living 25 miles from work. On the one hand it pains me to think of how many miles I've put on but then at the same time, the car was made to be driven. Still, am putting a bit aside to invest in another daily in order to keep the VR as my weekend fun and once or twice a week daily. That said, it runs well for having been regularly exercised rather than laid up. That's more the situation you've found yourself in now, so I guess we're at opposite ends of the spectrum! The top end certainly wasn't in immediate or obvious need of a rebuild but that said, the clutch was fairly shot and the chains were of the age that they needed doing for peace of mind. While in there, Vince said we might as well do the lot and I agreed. As I say, it certainly runs well for having it done, so it was worth every penny. matty golf, cheers dude. Looking forward to following the progress of yours, should come up nicely.

Well, if you can afford the extra insurance, the G60 I'd have said. More performance and more potential if modding is your scene. That said, the valver might be a more economical runabout. It all depends what you want from it.
