  1. And almost all of them in the most desirable colour too... 8) and 20% of them needed new aux tensioner bearings  Amongst other things...God bless Dave, his keen ear and his ten tonne press. Oh, and his ability to make bacon sandwiches, having "loosened up" stubborn bolts for Graham... :D
  2. And almost all of them in the most desirable colour too... 8)
  3. If you were the driver of the nice looking, modded H reg I flashed to in Astwood Bank about an hour ago, apologies: so excited to see another Corrado, I forgot I was driving a quite charming courtesy blue Polo supplied by DG Autotech...
  4. Hi Mr Sands, I was on the M5 last week and in Droitwich as well. My VR storm has has a private plate starting with M and ending in MMA so it may have been me. If so, spotted at last :D Matt[/quote:3ozrvjp0] Matt, that sounds about right, certainly looked like Mystic colour. Sure it was yours and it was worth waiting for a spot because the Corrado looked gorgeous. Ed.
  5. G reg red 'rado on the A449 today heading towards the Claines roundabout from Sixways, today at about 11. Was in old man's Audi heading back from dropping mine off at Corrado central (ie DG Autotech). J198 UOB on Worcester City bridge today at about 11ish this morning, spotted by the girlfriend. She says it looked quite smart... Sod's law that in both cases it me in a Corrado passing you. Any takers?
  6. Depressingly logical answer but good point well made Jake. Guess the English teacher in me took over with the stupid wordy flight of fancy... ...you're right, it's exactly north of the junction where you'd get off to go to D.G.
  7. Beyond spooky: exactly the same spot, same details in every regard except today and a DIFFERENT M reg 'rado... ...is Droitwich the Corrado Triangle, where they appear and disappear at will?! And who is Will? Answers on a postcard to "This man has got too much time on his hands, B.B.C. Television, Wood Lane, Retardville". :tumbleweed:
  8. Lovely looking blue 'rado, possibly VR, personalised reg beginning M, northbound M5 past Junction 5 at about half five.
  9. Link to something that really made me laugh.
  10. Immensely cheered on skiing holiday to Austria to see the same modded purple Corrado twice, once at a petrol station in Saalfelden and once on the road going back down that way. I was on a coach full of fellow ski-ers, so you wouldn't have seen me either time! Doubt you're on here either, seems improbable. Closer to home, red Corrado on the M40 on Saturday late morning/lunchtime? Only caught a quick glimpse.
  11. Whose was the poorly but lovely looking blue 'rado on the hard shoulder of the M40 earlier today? Looked nice, felt sorry for you.
  12. The missus spotted a dark blue Corrado at the Three Pears Roundabout, just down from Junction 6 of the M5, this morning at about nine o'clockish.
  13. Called in at Tesco this evening after work. As we came back to the 'rado, a gent was sitting in the passenger seat of a convertible MR2 with the top down (but wearing an England rugby hat to reassert his masculinity!). He was eyeing up the VR appreciatively and as we pulled away through the space, he mouthed "That's nice that is!" through the window! He got a friendly beep of the horn and a wave as we left the car park. Nice one mate!
  14. Evening all, Hope there isn't a thread already on what I'm about to say; I did use the search but to no avail. Was just hoping for some advice/information from the knowledgeable sorts on here (and in particular the one or two forum members whose day jobs are in the Police) about what exactly to do if you witness truly, horrendously dangerous driving. I'd like to point out before describing the following that I'm not the sort of petty, intolerant driver who suffers from paranoia, road rage or a desire to see road users prosecuted every time they change lane without indication, take the wrong line at roundabouts, hog the middle lane, have fog lights on when it's not foggy etc. Sure, these things bug me as much as they do us all but not to the extent of causing me to want to phone up our overstretched enforcement of the law peeps and give them yet more to do. However, I really am curious as to what the procedure is when you've seen someone do something that is just plain stupid or dangerous. Example: today, on the commute home in the missus' car, we watched a Range Rover in front which had been driving poorly already, drop out of the inside lane of the motorway and onto the hard shoulder a full half a mile before the next junction and then drive all the way along the hard shoulder and onto the slip, causing enormous risk to the unwary driver who would have left the motorway at the appropriate point for the slip road. We were mystified: as traffic was heavy, our first thought on watching the Range pull onto the hard shoulder (after realising they hadn't broken down) was to think that they were going to pull the mother of all undertakes out of sheer reckless impatience. However, they continued to keep traffic speed (approx. 55 m.p.h.), just in a fourth "lane" that they'd turned the hard shoulder into. Before they left the carriageway, we were next car behind them; by keeping pace with traffic, we'd had to pull level with them by the time that the slip arrived and Sally had to negotiate pulling onto the slip road as the same time as they drove over the line at the end of the hard shoulder and straight onto it. It seemed almost as if they thought that this section of the M5 was the equivalent of the sections of the M42 where the hard shoulder is in play as a lane at busy times, despite the complete lack of signage to that effect. However, their doziness/bizarre decision could have caused a serious accident if an unwary driver didn't check mirrors before leaving the motorway; I know that drivers should always check mirrors but then you don't expect a vehicle to be in your blind spot but travelling at speed on the hard shoulder. I'm not the kind of busybody who posts criticism of people's driving on the websites I've seen in the press for such purposes, where you can shop numberplates (even though I made a note of this wally's); I'm just wondering what people would advise doing. I know the logical thing is to 'phone the local constabulary but the only previous time in all mine and Sally's years of driving where anything that potentially serious has happened before (a completely reckless driver at a roundabout came within millimetres of hitting Sally, having failed to give way), the response for so doing was "You could come in and make a witness statement in a few days". Would anything get done? Is that the best way to go? Thoughts?
  15. Slammed red G reg, going out of town on the Bath Road about half three this afternoon. I flashed and you gave a dignified wave!
  16. As davidwort has pointed you to, the Wiki has everything you want in it, especially the excellent buying guide. However, my quick twopennyworth, trying to give you the essence of all the fantastic info in there, bear in mind you're buying a car that (even a late VR) is now fifeen years old at least. Therefore high mileage is not quite inevitable (mine's sitting on 66,000  ) but checking what it's had done/budgetting for things that will need doing (15 year old car) is essential. Buying higher mileage seems initially off putting but then, if you buy a car that's had the big jobs of middle age done (chains and maybe some other top end work on the engine, refreshing of the suspension etc) then you might get a far better runner than one that's low mileage and has been sitting up. My 66,000 miler is lovely and feels really tight in lots of ways but since it's spent a lot of time sitting up or on short runs during it's life pre-me, I'm working my way through the replacement of a lot of perished bushes etc, which have started going quickly now it's in regular use again. I'm also aware that soon the splendid chaps at DG Autotech (recommended) are going to take the top end apart and quite possibly find that my timing chains need doing. As for the other issues you brought up, here are one or two useful hints to get the most out of an unbelievably helpful and well run forum: 1. A Storm is just a well specc'd VR with some extra badges, a colour coded grille and one colour choice (of two) that was only on the Storms (but also MK3 Golfs). For many, that prestige of the badge (meaning one of the last 500) is worth the extra cost of buying and insuring. For others, the badges mean little and they'd rather have a VR with an even higher spec (eg Recaros). There is no difference in performance between stock and Storm VRs. 2. If you want to read the considerable debate of "Is a Storm any better than a regular VR?" then use the Search function on the forum, which is invaluable for the following reasons: it will help you avoid irritating the mods and regulars by asking questions that have been asked dozens of times before; it will save you time; it will stop causing the above debate and other favourites (VR vs. G60; do chains really need doing and if so is it at 100,000 miles, even Xbox 360 vs. PS3!) to endlessly resurface. So go find a good Corrado! For all that you'll read of how infuriating they can be, there's no other car that you can buy for the money that'll make you smile so much. Good luck!
  17. Woo me! Didnt see you though, i was looking to see if i spotted anyone.... First spot, shame i had to drive all the way up there to be seen! Work (TKmaxx) wanted me to go to the store in Worcester today even though i live in Milton Keynes, took me 2 hours to get home! :( (if it helps I like to think my numberplate says my name 'J535N' - 'JASON'....or that might just be me...¬_¬) That rings a bell, only got a quick look and it was the missus that spotted you actually, she's brilliant! We had gone to work in her car that day, sod's law, else you'd have clocked me. Nice chuftie for you here though: doing the 50 mile round trip of M5 and A roads each day, she and I see more and more new Sciroccos all the time. Just as we came off the M5 I was passing comment on how our fourth Scirocco of the day was a few cars in front when Sally spotted you and pointed it out, so I got a quick look. The chuftie? That your lovely looking ride caused me to say (for the umpteenth time) "Now THAT is still such a good looking car: I'm so glad I drive one of those and not a new Scirocco that loads of people have". :D
  18. J reg metallic/dragon green, leaving Worcester by M5 Junction 7 northbound, tonight at about quarter to six.
  19. Lurverly looking white N reg (possibly a VR but debadged grille), going up London Road in Worcester, this afternoon at about four. Gave a wave in reply to my thumbs up.
  20. I think this has to be the single funniest post of my time on the Forum, beating even the brilliant but wrigglesome account of the perianal abscess. So sorry for your sad loss but for what consolation it is, you've made a very long day of work ahead brighter with that hilarious tale! Ed. P.S. 'rado was looking lovely when I saw it at DG last week.
  21. Continuing the school related theme, a colleague who was new to us last September but who'd clearly never arrived or left at the same time as me until yesterday, said this morning "Is the Corrado yours?"; says I "Yes! That's my baby..."; says he "Niiiiiccceeeeee" (in full on Jazz Club style). Loving it.
  22. Great shot craigowl; the irony is irresistible and you're quite right; as you put it so beautifully, truth is invariably stranger than fiction...
  23. L** CPD, seen in Bath yesterday. Black 'rado, think a VR?
  24. I had a couple of Mark IIs and loved them both but went from them to Corrados and would never go back!
  25. Yeah, I've heard that too, that changing the windscreen is an absolute mother of a job.
